American Idol: 2/21

He’s really really beautiful. Men I find that beautiful always seem to be gay!

You don’t need a “[sic]” here because Simon is British, and in Britain collective nouns do take plural forms.

Do we need one for “Pauler” and “charismar?”

Sucks to your charismar.

Got to put my 2 cents in.

Scott Savol creeps me the hell out. I won’t deny he’s talented, he absolutely is. However his vibrato, of all things, annoys me.

Anwar is a favorite in this house, in part due to the fact that my sister knew him in college (very small school). I was really impressed with what he did to “Moon River” and I hope he goes far.

Judd, is that the one who sang “Travelin Band?” Well I think that was an awful choice for him. Any time they showed him singing during previous auditions I thought he was pretty good, but that song was just lousy.

Overall, so far I’m rooting for Anwar, Nikko, Mario. I guess I could get on the Bo bandwagon but I wasn’t amazed. I remain open to being swayed!

Agreed. JPL, anybody? Dip-dancing George? John “Deer in the headlights” Stevens? IMO there wasn’t one male finalist last year that didn’t pretty much suck (especially in contrast to the women), and I think we have a chance for at least 3 or 4 quality men this year. I’ll take Anwar, Mario, Bo and Nikko, though if Constantine makes it, the snark factor will go up. And the snark is one of my top three reasons for watching.

That’s a great idea. I’d love to see/hear it. Is there a way to email (or otherwise contact) the contestants? If Scott could nail “Unchained Melody” (and I think he could), it would carry him through for at least a couple of weeks.

John Stevens has an album coming out in April.

The kid can sing when he’s in his element.

Yeah, you ain’t kidding… I backed him last season, and with the big band, he sounds absolutely great!

Wow. I actually enjoy listening to him! Go Baby Conan, go!

Did anybody call in to vote tonight? Any contestant lines that were particularly hard to get through on?

Oh wow, that sounds great! Thanks for alerting us to that link cricetus.

Thanks for that new knowledge! I stand corrected.

I don’t know, but probably not. They’re probably shielded from outside contact for that very reason — producers want them to use their own wits and talents to compete. But I could be wrong. Maybe check the fan sites.

Like I said, I didn’t see it. But whatever Simon said he certainly riled up the home audience.
