I had a feeling the thread would be started early today. I don’t know what the theme is supposed to be, but someone (Rilchiam?) has been correct the past two weeks about every spoiler we’ve been given down to song choice. Last week was pretty good, I hope they have another good theme.
I heard it was to be “blues”, but I don’t remember where I saw that, so grain of salt.
According to TWoP, this week is the 70s.
~groans~ The 70s? There are some good songs…but not a lot.
I wonder if Dio has time to do what songs he thinks that various people should do from that decade.
Unfortunately, I always hear the Michael Damian version in my head when I think of that song.
I hope Bo can get himself together and kick some ass tonight, especially if it’s the 70s. Did anyone see the piece on Bo’s family that aired on Access Hollywood last night? His grandma makes his shirts, many of which Bo’s worn on AI. And in the collar she sews a tag that says “Made With Love By Grandma.” That’s so damn cute, I don’t even know what to do with myself. They also showed some footage of Bo performing with his band, and doing some shirtless crowd surfing.
A great song, but not very demanding, is it? I’m guessing we’ll see more Queen tonight from at least one contestant (and the desire to hear Bo sing “Fat Bottomed Girls” expressed on last week’s thread gets another chance). Eagles with at least one song. Maybe Fleetwood Mac.
And certainly lots of soul. Meh.
They had her on the radio here yesterday morning in Atlanta but I missed it. She’s supposed to fly out next week to see him.
Could be worse…could be disco.
That was me … and I’m going on record saying it again. Bo, are you reading this? Please! Pretty please with cherries! Sing “Fat Bottomed Girls!” If you do, you will move right up to #2 on my Reality TV Boyfriends List. Pinky swear!
Also … if anyone sings “I Honestly Love You” (I am thinking of you, A-Fed), I am afraid I might have to kill myself. Ditto for “Have You Never Been Mellow.” And for that matter, I could do without “Please Mister, Please” and “MacArthur Park” as well. (OK, that last one isn’t an Olivia “Fig” Newton-John song, but it’s awful and I don’t want to hear it.)
Are you kidding me? The '70s ROCK! Joe Walsh, The Eagles, Bad Company, Traffic, Fleetwood Mac, The Cars, BTO, Badfinger, Head East, Jethro Tull, The Stones, Foghat, Deep Purple, The Who, Steely Dan, Led Zeppelin, The Moody Blues, The Guess Who, Eric Clapton, Rush, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Doors, Boston, Kansas, Steppenwolf, The Steve Miller Band, Pink Floyd, Emerson Lake & Palmer. Jesus, the list is endless. Not a lot of good songs? Were you referring to the 1870s, perhaps?
My wish list includes Constantine singing “Hello, It’s Me” by Todd Rundgren.
The '70s are The Best!
Bo or Constantine should do Ballroom Blitz. And what in the world is wrong with Soul? The Hole should do Oh Girl by the ChiLites. That would be perfect for him. Vonzelle should do Cheryl Lynn’s Got To Be Real. Country Girl can do You Can Go Your Own Way.
We’ll leave Bo with Ballroom Blitz so that Connie can do Your Momma Don’t Dance by Loggins and Messina. Who’m I missing?
Oh yea, Anwar. I want him to sing Reasons by EW&F to me. And Private Pyle can do Always and Forever by Heatwave.
Sound good?
Anwar and the Ick.
OMG, that would be SO perfect on so many levels! Not only because it would be a kickass song for her, but because Cheryl Lynn’s winning appearance on The Gong Show actually launched her recording career, and that was her debut single!! Check it out!
I heard that it is disco. Egads, I hope not. But I read it on the internet, so it must be true.
If it is the 70’s, count me as another vote for Bo to sing “Fat Bottomed Girls.” That would be too delightful for words.
I’m actually going to vote for Bo tonight, assuming he does a good job. I don’t ordinarily vote, but I don’t want him to go home yet!
Anwar should sing If You Want Me to Stay by Sly.
See if anyone takes him for granted and smiles.
Are they going to do any artist specific themes this year? I think they did Elton John and Gloria Estefan last year.
As long as they don’t take it literally…

Back in the funky 70s–ow!
the party didn’t ever stop–ow!
The city of Pompeii was doing all right
but Vesuvius blew her top.
Wowow! Back in the super bad 70s
the Roman Empire still reigned supreme.
Emperor Titus came to power
and he finished up the Colosseum.

rockle, if you weren’t a girl…I think I’d be in love with you by now. Please, from your lips to God’s ears, don’t let anyone sing the songs that rockle listed.
shadowfax, your internet sources better be wrong!
Shayna, I’m just not a big 70s music fan. I know some of it, but not like other genres/decades. There were good songs, but there were some VERY BAD songs in the 70s, too. And the songs that Biggirl listed? I’m not sure I’ve heard of a lot of them…
Of course, I think Bo should sing An Ode to Jaade…otherwise known as The Looking Glass’s song with which I share my real name.
The 70s? Dare I hope that Bo will perform a John Denver song?
Thank God I’m a Country Boy?
