Word on TWOP (it’s my bible) is that his girlfriend went all Queer Eye on him to nerd him up, so that he would get the votes of the Clay bloc. I could see that happening.
I can agree with that, that he’s not really all that strong. The tone of his voice is just so pretty to me. It’s like caramel and really soft leather and the way a puppy’s belly feels when you rub it and all of those other things. Plus, for me, he’s easily the most attractive guy there. Well, except Travis could give him a run for his money. I also like the thought of a professionally-trained singer winning AI.
See, now, I think he’s butt-frickin’-ugly. And he’s a hack. I want to like him, because I usually like the “rock” guys, but there is something about him that irks to no end. The ego, perhaps, and the fact that he thinks he’s all that and a bag of chips, and he just ain’t even close.
Me too, and Bo may be our man. You just know he knows all the words to “Fat Bottomed Girl” by heart. Me likey. Plus, he’s my age, so I’m allowed to think he’s hot.
Someone has to pick the nits: “Hard to Handle” is an Otis Redding song.
“Whipping Post” is just about Best.Song.Ever, so I’m glad Bo nailed it. But as has been said elsewhere, he’ll crash and burn when they do Barry Manilow night.
Worst: Constantine and David. And I’m tired of David’s Predator haircut.
But Ruben Studdard didn’t look the part either. He won on cuddliness and a fairly decent voice. I don’t think Scott is “cuddly”. . . yet. But he’s got a better voice than Ruben.
I’m part of the Constantine-is-butt-fricken-ugly camp. Most of my hatred for him stems from his whole act where he thinks he’s too good for AI, and the only reason he condescends to be a part of that whole teenybopper farce is that he’s just so damn cool and the American public needs him. Whatever.
Constantine, step away from the Otis Redding. You can’t handle “hard to handle” you cruise-singing poser.
Anthony Fedorov, step away from the bad 80’s power ballads. Anyone who sings Foreigner song should be kicked off the show and dragged off to a musical reeducation camp. Quick, before he finds Pat Benetar’s “We Belong.”
Unfortunately, both will survive. It’s actually a good thing, since I’ll enjoy hoping they bomb and get booted off from week to week and it would be anticlimactic if they got cut now.
BTW, Anwar helped cement himself as my favorite guy by singing “What’s Goin’ On.” I love that song, and he did it well. I thought it was weird the judges said it was “risky” since Marvin Gaye seems safe to me (because everybody in the world loves his music), but it’s still a great song and he did it well.
On shaky ground: Scott, Nikko, Anthony (one of these will not make the top six).
Out: David, and if there’s any justice, Constantine, but probably Joe thiw week. I like David, but he hasn’t been able to outshine the competition. SmirkyBoy could not handle “Hard to Handle”; it was pitiful – I agree that he should go NOW. I hate to see Joe go so soon – I think he would’ve become very good, given enough time; but if he doesn’t go this week, he’ll go next. As one of the judges pointed out, it’s a competition. You have to win every week.
I would say he was intending it to be more in the style of the Black Crowes, given his age. For the record, I did not know that though. I’ve heard the Dead’s version, I’ve heard the Black Crowes. I have never in my life heard the Otis Redding version of that song.
Constantine IS ugly. I don’t care what he thinks.
GAH! I guess his wife would be bare foot too…in the kitchen with 15 kids. Can we lay off the South hatred? I think he looks strange too, but not because he looks like he could be Southern.
I disagree. I think that outfit totally suited him. A lot of the guys that would have worn flannels and torn jeans in the 90s are now wearing outfits just like the one he had. I, as stated last night, hated those pants but loved the shirt.
When Bo started sing "Whipping “Post,” I thought, no way, that is not AI. But he was was great, and I think “they” (the producers of the show) would love to have a different type win tjhis year.
Joseph has got to go - total lounge act. And I’d boot Connie (rock lounge act) Soval is working my nerves with the “I’m not the AI type thing.” He needed to sing like an angel, but he didn’t. Gone this week or next.
Anthony is too much like Clay, but I wouldn’t bet against him making the final six guys.
If I voted last night, I would have gone with Travis. A lot of stage presence, and the best looking guy they have ever had. Decent singer too.
