American Idol 2/22, Estrogen

Nice start for Vonzel.

Gah…no…not Michael Bolton again. The suck…it burns…

Simon did NOT just say that!

After Amanda Avila (the really hot girl with the so-so voice) performed, Simon said he’d like to be reincarnated as her microphone. I think he was making a fellatio joke.

Ohhh, I love Nadia. I wish Cowgirl had not sung Celine Dion. I could not like it no matter how hard I tried.
Janay sang way too fast but she’s sooooo adorable.
Belinda and the Celina can go.

I hate Wilderstein Jr.

My husband wants to know why she’s singing like Ethel Merman.

I like Mikhala. I know a lot of people don’t. For some reason I find myself wanting her to do well.

So how does it work? We lose a boy and a girl?

Well now, Aloha (geez what a stupid name) kicked some ass too.

I think Nadia was the best tonight. Aloha and Mikhala would be my next picks. Janay and that girl who sang “Against All Odds” were the poorest. Who knows how people will vote, though.

Ok, blow by blow:
Vonzell: Heat Wave (Linda Ronstadt?)- very good performance. I still really like her! Judges concur.

Amanda: How Am I Supposed to Live Without You (Michael Bolton) - she was ok, sang well, but I think upbeat songs are the way to go for the first few weeks. I don’t remember what the judges said.

Janay: I Wanna Love You Forever (Jessica Simpson? Not sure at all, I’ve never heard this song before!) - She looked terrified and she sounded nervous. Simon says it’s an old song, I just goggled the lyrics to try and figure out what she was singing. The judges did not think it was a good song for her, and encouraged her to try something “younger”.

Carrie: Could’ve Been (Mandy Moore) - I like this song, and I loved the way she sang it. I’m very partial to her, she’s absolutely adorable and she has style and presence. The judges agree with me, of course. :stuck_out_tongue: Simon calls her a fav to win and agrees with me that she has presence!

Sarah: Get Ready (Rare Earth) - I don’t really like her. She did this annoying hair thing at the beginning that I didn’t like and I find her a bit smarmy. I find it hard to be objective. I think she got a mixed review from the judges.

Melinda: I’m Your Lady - Good voice, she should make it through, but I"m not overly impressed with her stage presence. (Hint, hold the microphone, get it off the stand) Paula calls her a strong contender. Simon didn’t love it.

Nadia: Power of Love - Got the crowd going, good voice. Judges and crowd loved it.

Celena: I Will Love Again? - Strong voice…I didn’t love the song. The judges didn’t like the song.

Mikalah: I’m not sure what she sang, I was on the phone! She was upbeat and fun, and had a strong voice. Judges and audience loved her.

Lindsey: Standing Right Next To Me (Karla Bonoff) - Very pretty song, she did well. I didn’t hear what the judges said.

Jessica: Against All Odds(Take a Look At Me Now) (Phil Collins) - Nice song, not a GREAT performance. It was okay. The judges seemed to like it, not love it.

Aloha: I don’t think I know this song (and I’m still on the phone…sorry for being such a slack recapper) - the crowd loved it, I’m not a big fan. Randy loved it, Paula said she has presence, Simon says she did a good job.
~previews four times~ Ok, I think I got all of my coding and spelling right, apologies for any mistakes!

I don’t think I’m going to waste time trying to vote. Nadia was the only one I really liked.
Simon was right about Mikalah and I am in the 50% that finds her annoying. Unfortunately, she will probably be around a long time.

Am I so old that I know that this song is actually Tiffany instead of Mandy Moore?

I knew that too. I least she doesn’t sing like Tiffany

I remember it as Tiffany.

My choices to be gone:
The one I hate with a burning passion, Mikalah. Belinda and Celina.

Jaade, where are you getting your song information? Martha Reeves did Heat Wave and The Temptations do Get Ready.

I despise Mikalah Gordon. I don’t find her interesting to listen to. I think she’s a lounge act at best.

I know I’m not alone. I noticed Constantine in the audience had the same look on his face as I had on mine.

I took notes this time because I couldn’t remember who was who by the end of last night’s ep.

In the bland, forgettable department: Sarah, Celena, Lindsey, Jessica, and Amanda- the only thing memorable about her performance is Simon’s tacky fellatio joke. I’d also include Melinda, but I think she’ll be a lot better if she starts letting her hair down. (Of course I also thought John Stevens would get better any week now…)

Mikalah sounds like Roseanne Roseannadanna to me. I don’t get it.

I thought Carrie, Vonzell, and Janey were pretty good. The latter was visibly nervous, obviously, though I don’t think that hurt her voice that much.

Nadia – wow. I don’t think she was the best singer tonight, but no doubt this was the best performance.

Go Nadia!

I liked Vonzell somewhat, though the song sounded maybe too low for her?

And Carrie did well.

Everyone else was so uninspiring to me. I felt like I just didn’t understand Aloha’s performance, so I’d prefer not to judge her on that.

You mean it’s been covered since? :smack:

The really embarrassing thing is that I always confuse Mandy Moore and Mandy Patinkin. I was like, “WTF? Inigo Montoya sang that?”
