Yes, it’s Hollywood Hell Week, round one, on American Idol tonight. I imagine there will be 2 or 3 nights of this, but this thread will suffice for them as well.

Rose (hippie girl) admits in confessional that she doesn’t have that great of a voice. She does sound kind of like a one-trick pony, like so many AI contestants who sing with a strong affectation.
Ok, I’ve missed a few weeks, so I don’t have any of my usual sentimentality attached to this round. Normally I’m already rooting for people, but not this time.
The pierced tattooed crying kid with the anchor song, umm why did he pass, exactly?
I couldn’t even tell if that shiny Norman could sing at all or not, is he going to be one of those ones that scrabble into the top 20 to become a fan favorite that Simon hates on each week?
The Puerto Rican (Jorge?) was incredible, as was the guy from Ohio who sang the Stevie Wonder song. Rose sounded a lot like Joni Mitchell and I’m glad they kept her.
Deadwife isn’t that great.
Norman’s my horse so far, because he’s funny and Because Simon hates him so much. I hope he makes it through to the voting where Simon won’t have any more control. He would make a great VFTW and it would drive Simon crazy to see him stay week after week.
Paula and Kara are still totally jealous of Bikini Girl.
So Katrina the bikini girl has a voice like a 9 year old? Ick.
I didn’t hear that. She sounded normal to me. I don’t understand the hate she gets from Kara and Paula. They hate her just for being hot.
Except, she’s not really that hot. Decent bodies are a dime a dozen, especially in Hollywood. Her face is average, nothing more. I thought the strawberry blonde, heavy girl with glasses was much prettier (the caregiver girl who didn’t make it).
Kara far prettier than bikini girl so I don’t get the jealousy thing. I think they’re more irritated that if she hadn’t worn a bikini, she wouldn’t have even made it to Hollywood yet Simon chooses to remind them all the time that it’s a singing competition. It’s hard to respect his (or Randy’s) opinion now about the correct choice when they are so easily swayed.
Her singing is fine, though. It’s not outstanding, but she can carry a tune. I’ve seen a lot worse go through. I’ve seen worse make it to the voting rounds.
Fine, but worthy of making yourself look like a fool by putting someone through with a tinny, thin voice just to piss off your fellow judges? There are a lot of people who went home who could sing much better. You could tell by the lilt in his voice and the smirk on his face that he was doing it to be a shit. It just seems like a silly game to play for someone pretends to take this show so seriously.
Really, I was just responding to the jealousy thing because both Paula and Kara are better looking than that girl IMHO.
This post is an excellent example of the differences between men and women. Men know that they have no idea what a woman is looking for in a man’s physical appearance. Women don’t know any better about other women, but they think they do.
If the females of the world would wise up and stop fighting us on this, a lot of disastrous blind dates could be avoided.
