Given that 75% made it through, I am not surprised Bikini Girl made it. She does have a decent voice, but it is kind of thin.
They mentioned that he made it through to the next round - we didn’t actually get to see/hear him sing though.
By the by, I’ll happily speak for all of America and tell Dennis Brigham “No, actually, we’re not mad that they cut you”.
It makes you wonder what the criteria really is. Like you would only get kicked off if you were on the edge to start with, and you were mediocre in your song. Just being mediocre on your first song is emphasized on this show but if that was the criteria they would be kicking off a lot more than 50 people.
Still not attached to anyone, though I guess that’s normal.
-The two friends (where one of them lost his wife) are pretty spectacular and should be singing together. No pity points there.
-Love the nerdy Indian (?) guy, and he managed to spiff up a bit. But someone’s got to get him off boy band ballads.
-Yikes did Bikini Girl suck. Simon could barely contain himself– you could tell in his face that he didn’t like what he heard, but knew he’d keep her on as the one ‘people love to hate.’
I imagine more than a teeny tiny part of them is thinking: ‘Hey, if we blatantly reward women based on looks rather than talent we’re going to end up with plenty of untalented women in the music industry, making us all look bad, lending creedence to the myth that female pop stars are just pretty faces for talented male songwriters and producers, and preventing other, more talented female artists from getting ahead.’
I think the whole lot of 'em is kind of weak so far. I really don’t fall in love with anyone until they’re down to about 16 contestants. I hope it’s better overall than last night’s group was!!
I really like Rose Flack, except for the whole barefoot thing. Bikini Girl probably sounds just fine singing drunk karaoke at the bar on Friday night, but she sucks for this show. I’ll be glad when she’s gone.
I too like Anoop Dawg. I noticed that the uber-nerd closet singer who beaked off to Simon is stil there (with a haircut, looking fairly tasty).

Deadwife dodged the high note there with a lot of bullshit, melisma misdirection. They’re overrating him. He’s on for the storyline.
Oil Rig Guy…I don’t get what is so great about his voice that rated a special feautre in the “great moments” montage. I do like the Black Hair Actor Kid, though.
It sucks that Rose got sent home.
If I’m remembering right, Deadwife is a music teacher. I’m guessing he’s the reason (knowledge of music theory, etc.) that group performance sounded so good even if he wasn’t the strongest singer.
OK, I have had way more than enough of Tatiana. She makes Bikini Girl look tolerable.

I am glad to say goodbye to some of the people that have been sent home, particularly the bikini girl who is narcissistic to the point of self-parody, but a few more could go too.
