I love how Randy just said “I don’t know the song” and immediately followed up with “Oh, that guy, yeah, great singer.” Yeah, sure Randy.
I couldn’t watch, how’d he do on the lips? He sounded okay, even though I’m thinking Simon’s right again and it was a bad song choice.
I liked the song okay, but I agree with Simon – that was a theme park performance. Of course, the young ones who are busy squeeing over David wouldn’t care if he sang Old McDonald, he’d still end up on top of the rankings.
I know that song from 1986, but whatever.
When I found out what he was singing, I was a little nervous for him. It’s a big song for him and I’m not sure I liked the performance. John Farnham has a much bigger, higher voice than David’s husky voice and I kept comparing it to the original.

I don’t really feel any better off. I do think it’s lame that so many people are doing songs that aren’t really from that year, just somebody else happened to do them that year. Seems like the spirit of the thing would be to pick a quintessential song from that year. Carly gets points for that at least.
I have an irrational hatred for Archuleta. I hate how he always sings “message” songs, I hate how they’ve already put the crown on his head. I’m SO glad Simon dissed him–it was absolutely spot-on.
Living near the Canadian border, I only heard it on Canadian radio stations. It never made the charts in the US. My husband had never heard it either.
