I’m not surprised Connie is running third in the msnbc poll. He’s bad, but he kind of has a look and attitude (when he’s not singing) that sort of looks like a star. I bet plenty of girls going for him.
Thank you, that would make things easier for me. I’ll be around to do tonight’s recap, but not the shows on the 14th and 15th. I’ll be out of town. I figured he wasn’t the first recording, but since I’ve never heard of him or the song, I didn’t worry over it too much.
And thank you again, that made me laugh.
That’s as good an explanation as anything else. I really just…was astounded when they complimented him on the song. I was IMing someone during that performance and had forgotten who was singing. I heard this horrible noise and winced thinking “who is THAT?”, when I turned back to the TV I was no longer surprised.
Liberal, I say that his voice was shaky not because I think he needed to blast the beginning of the song, but because it seemed like it was not the right range of song. I really wanted it to be a good performance because it was Bo, but I just “wasn’t feeling it”. I think he has too much voice for that song, to be honest.
I forgot to mention that the Sting comment cracked me up, too.
Now Constantine is showing to be tied for 3rd with Anthony. So far Travis has 1%! of the vote, and is definitely the lowest. Bo and Anwar are tied for first with 31% each, predictably. I cannot see a final four without them.
If I had to choose a final four right now, based on abilities, I’d say: Anwar, Bo, Carrie, and either Nadia or Amanda. (picking two girls and two boys but also who I feel the top should be)
I confess, I had an AI dream last night. It was tonight’s show with the women and the music started up for “Every Little Step I Take” again! Simon was gearing up to tear whichever girl sang it a new one.
I really want to root for Mario because he is from the Bronx and has a sweet voice. But it’s just not strong or interesting enough, esp compared to Anwar this week. The only thing that bothers me about Anwar sometimes is he has the same too-wide-eyed earnest look sometimes when singing that Jennifer Hudson had. But then I just look away and enjoy the sound.
I thought Simon was right that Randy and Paula are losing sight of the whole point of this thing–to be truthful and critical and not just search for reasons to support the singers.
Unless I’m being whooshed, because your real name is Osbourne Earl Smith II, and your father is baseball Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith, a.k.a. “The Wizard.” Osbourne --> Ozzie --> Oz --> The Wizard of Oz --> Flying Monkey. I think it’s kind of clever.
My pick of the night (just the night, not the whole competition) – Scott. I really like his voice, and thought he did a great job.
My picks to go – Constantine and Travis (I’ll miss that smile).
I didn’t really put that much thought into it. I just thought “Nikko? Isn’t that the winged monkey from The Wizard of Oz? Yes, it is!” Kudos to Mr. Smith if he put that much thought into it.
It’s been a slow day at work, and I’ve been out on the Web, reading Idol-related stuff, trying to convince myself there’s a chance that Constantine will get voted off instead of Scott.
Everyone everywhere agrees that Travis is history.
A lot of people agree that Constantine should go but probably won’t. There are a lot of w337 ¥0µn9 7h1n9 out there creaming their panties over Mr. Smirky.
Nikko and Anthony have less support than I expected. Nikko might possibly go instead of Scott.
There were a couple of comments I found amusing. One reviewer referred to Mario “constantly eye-f**king the camera”. Another reviewer commented that if Travis had put on some nerdy glasses he would’ve looked like Urkel.
Someone has brought up the possibility that Fox could pull a fast one Wednesday and boot off more women (>2) and less men (<2). The thinking behind this is that it would be good for future ratings since the men are more popular (and talented) than the women this season.
