American Idol 3/7

What was it that Federov just shouted at Lindsey?

It’s ironic that she’s singing an Aerosmith song and she can’t hit the high notes that Steven Tyler hits…and she’s a woman.

What did Ryan just do to Simon? I looked away.

Man, if I was Simon I would kick Seacrest’s ass.

I went to the bathroom! What did he do?

Please, Mikalah, enunciate. You sound like Marlee Matlin.

Yea, what happened?

I cannot say anything about The Mick. I cannot stand her and she cannot sing.

He went to the table and started throwing glasses of water at him.

Mikalah was “shaky” the whole time. She was not good. Stop praising the singers for abstract things like “charisma” or “uniqueness” and rate their perfomances, and do it honestly.

Jessica’s singing is alright but her affectations are annoying as hell.

Her “affectations” are pretty nice, I think. I’ve never heard 'em called that before.

When Jessica started it sounded like she was gonna kick ass. Instead it was just O.K.

My son walked by the TV and said, “It looks like the girls are back in town.”

All holy hell, what’s happening with the girls? I’m starting to wonder if AI isn’t sabotaging the females so they don’t have a Diva-off!

Everyone except Vonzell sounded like they were singing 2 or 3 keys below their comfort zones, tonight was Revenge of the Little Alto That Couldn’t?! Who decides how to work these arrangements, ack! I truly feel sorry for them tonight.

Still like Carrie, Vonzell and Nadia best, Janay and Amanda need to go home.

Mikalanyhoohah tries to do what the judges say and gets slammed for it, that’s rough. Granted, she was all over hell and back on the beginning of that Streisand song, but Paula’s superior attitude and stupid comments were more annoying than the girl being off pitch.

Just a horrible episode.

I’m guessing Janay for sure but the other is a toss up. Lindsey, Amanda or Mikalah might be good guesses but it woudn’t surprise me if Jessica went. I don’t think she’s got a huge fan base.

To use a favorite word of Simon’s, Mikhala was appalling! For what she just did to one of my favorite songs she deserves to go. The absolute worst of the night and Randy is still finding some way to complement her. Even Simon wasn’t as brutal as he should have been. That was absolutely horrendous.

I actually rarely vote for the girls but I am tempted to try voting for everyone but Mikhella just to try to ensure that she will go.

Why do they keep calling it a Streisand song? That’s from West Side Story.

I’m sorry about the crazy posting. I’ll stop. One more. I swear.

Vonzell and Nadia were my favorites. Janay is gone and hopefully Mikalah will fall through a manhole. Sorry Dio.

I want Jessica to stay in the competition. I don’t know if I am a “fan,” per se, but the show is more fun with her in it.

The Ladies:

Amanda Avila - River Deep Mountain High (Tina Turner) - She has a lot of energy. I think she really tried hard to perform the song well, no question. I think the judges are a little harsh on her, as she wasn’t bad at all. (I love her shirt! It’s more like a corset.) Randy says it was good but he thinks it was just “ok” because he keeps hearing Tina. Paula says it was good, it was a hard song but Amanda gave it her all. Simon says that he doesn’t agree with Paula…she looks good tonight, but that she doesn’t come close to the original song. He said it was a good performance but only average singing ability. (I forgot about the damned sign thing, I have no idea what sign she said she was.)

Janay Castine - Dreaming of You (Selena) - She’s so cute. And this competition is so over for her. Bad song for her, she has no energy for it, no passion for the song. She was terrified when she started the song. She was also off-key in the beginning and her timing could use work. Randy says it was pitchy, it wasn’t good and was one of her worst performances. Paula concurs with the pitchy, she calls on her fans to vote if they want her in the competition. Simon tells her to pack her suitcase. (Libra)

Carrie Underwood - Because You Love Me (Jo Dee Messina) - It was decent but not her best. Jo Dee really belts out this song and puts a lot of feeling into it. Carrie didn’t, she was kinda quite about it Randy says she’s one of the best female performers but she was a little pitchy in the beginning. She says she’s scared of them. Randy says she’s one of the best pure singers in the competition. Paula says she has one of the most controlled vocals but she needs to get back to the happy-go-lucky Carrie from Hollywood. Simon says that he still thinks that she will be a finalist but that she is looking a bit old fashioned at the moment. He says it was almost a boring song but that no matter what she sings. (Pisces)

Vonzell Solomon - Respect (Aretha Franklin) - Ok…my cable went crazy for a bit, when I came back she was in the middle of a song. She’s singing it very well. The cowboy hat is cute on her, the boots are not. She dances a bit which the crowd loves. It’s a good performance. Randy says it wasn’t her best but that he really liked her performance and he’s happy she’s back. Paula says she has a great spirit but that she’s fun and pleasant to listen to, but not the best singer out there. Simon makes fun of her outfit and she says her daddy bought it for her. Simon says it was ok but he’s not sure what she was trying to be during the performance. Randy says she’s trying to be a singer but Simon says that’s debatable.

Nadia Turner - Try a Little Tenderness (Frank Sinatra?/Otis Redding/has been done by a LOT of performers) - I didn’t see this performance at all ~sighs~ but what I heard from the hallway sounded wonderful. I also don’t know what the judges said. Terribly sorry!

Lindsey Cardinale - Don’t Want To Miss a Thing (Aerosmith) - I was prepared from the opening note not to like her singing this song but I can’t find fault with it. Now, she did a weird thing with her knees that freaked me out and I hate the outfit but the singing is good. It’s a deep song which is good for her voice. Randy said it was pretty good but not the “bomb”, it was aight. Paula says that she is a fan of Lindsey’s voice but not of the song and she hasn’t shown her best. Simon says that it’s difficult to put the problem into words. He says she’s the Ryan Secreast of singers. She looks the part but is disappoints when she sings. (Aquarius)

Mikalah Gordon - Somewhere (Barbara Streisand) - Wow, this song is not doing her any justice. I do not like her tone or the style. Her performance is getting a bit better as she goes through the song but it’s just not a great song for the competition. Towards the end she holds a few notes well and the crowd gives her a little love. Randy says it started shaky, was pitchy and that she nailed some notes at the end. He gives her props for the courage in choosing a hard song. Paula says that she can tell Barbara inspires Mikalah. She says it started a little shaky but that she nailed the end and she admires that about her. She takes risks and goes for it. Simon says the first part of the song was hideous but the last part was fine. Simon says that he’s puzzled because at first she was so young but now she’s singing OLD songs. He says she’s losing what he liked about her in the beginning. (Capricorn)

Jessica Sierra - I’m not sure what song she was singing…I don’t know if that’s my fault or her fault. - She did very well. I loved her voice, her energy, her style and think she’s completely safe. Randy loves it, says she was controlled and it was one of the best performances of the best. Paula says that’s her niche, bring more of that on. Simon makes a comment about her outfit and Ryan doesn’t let him say anything about the performance. (Scorpio)

Janay is gone. I’d say the other will probably be either Mikalah, Amanda or Lindsey.
