Brooke – dreadful. Sucked all the fun out of the song.
David A. – can’t judge you fairly for that song, as I live in Red Sox territory.
Missed Cook and Castro, dealing with the dog and kid, respectively.
Speaking of missing people – anyone know if Biggirl mentioned dropping out of AI watching? Haven’t seen her in the threads lately.
She tried to say that it was confused with David’s, but she had already said that David’s was good, so that’s clearly not true.
I know I have read that they do a dress rehearsal where the judges get at least an idea of what they are going to say ahead of time. I don’t remember when or where I read it though. Still, a normal person wouldn’t get the dress rehearsal and “first round of the night” which Ryan just mentioned mixed up.
Crazy Pauler!
Castro was really mediocre that time. His voice didn’t work for that song. “September Morn” needs that rumbling bass.
Rigged? I assume she’s just already seen their performances from practice.
And she’s nervous.
And drugged.
I thought it was fairly well known that Paula can see 32 minutes into the future. It’s not usually that useful a gift, but it works well with this format.
It’s far more likely that Paula just had her notes screwed up.
So far the second round sucks, mainly due to song choices.
Cook just PWNED that song.
The more I hear of Cook, the more I like his voice. That wasn’t his best, but it was fine and it was typically him.
:smack: Freudian slip maybe? I of course meant Neil Diamond
Where’s that dunce cap… I know I put it somewhere.
David was good. Very very good.
I thought DC’s second was a pretty lame song, but I am starting to like David Cook more, and I do think he deserves to win.
David C is the only one who goes beyond the original arrangements, it seems. And that’s a shame because like Dolly Parton, Neil Diamond has written songs for a number of other singers. Just because they’re all songs he can sing well doesn’t mean they can’t be sung by other people very differently.
I like Jason, but he really was blah tonight.
I sense a general lack of enthusiasm about this years’ Idol contestants among most people, but I think David Cook is about as good as we have had since Kelly Clarkson. Tonight was a showcase for how he differentiates himself. He seems to try to never give a karaoke version of the familiar and sometime overly familiar songs they have to sing. I admire both his vocal versatility his willingness to take risks. I don’t think any of the remaining contestants is even that close.
Shut up, Brooke, you sucked.
Arizona is “between two shores,” isn’t it? I think it was a silly bit of advice to tell her to change it from NY.
That was better than her first song but still nothing special.
I totally agree, fruitbat. And I don’t care how much the judges drool over Archie, he’s just not in David Cook’s league.
Worst song lyrics change ever, by Brooke! Lost between the two shores of LA and…Arizona?!?
Well, that was one small step removed from Kristy singing Lee Greenwood in terms of pandering. Barf!
I don’t know what to say about Archuletta anymore. This sounds exactly like all his other performances. If you like that, you like, it, I guess. I can’t really say he sucks or doesn’t have talent, but he’s not my cup of tea.
Archuleta does nothing for me. I do not get the love.
Brooke is so good, she can single-handedly redraw the coastlines of North America with one warbly note.
Why does everyone suck up to David Archuletta? He drives me batty. He needs to get some life experience behind him, because everything he sings sounds disingenuous. I realize the kid is talented, but he creeps me out.
So far, David Cook was the only one worth watching. Everyone else would have their arse handed to them at any local karaoke night with tonight’s performances…
