A Jewish president, a black president, a female president or a gay president?
Do you require openly gay?
Jewish.
All of the above.
Coming’s overrated. Can’t they just cuddle?
For some reason, I think we’ll have a black female president before we have a black male president. I have no idea why I think this; it’s just a suspicion.
Personally, I think Powell will be the next “new” President barring (God forbid) something happening to George W.
I think we will have a woman as president soon. Then a black woman a little while later.
My guess is either a Jewish or black man. I don’t think the voting public is ready for a woman yet if Libby Dole’s run was any indication.
I hear you loud and clear, BK, and I think I’ve got the reason - “White America” is, generally speaking, much more threatened by black males than by black females.
Sorry for the hijack. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
Did this sound like the opening line to a joke to anyone else, or am I the only one?
“A Jewish president, a black president, a female president and a gay president walk into a bar…”
Personally, I think Powell actually wants it and, barring unforseen circumstances, has a very good chance to get it. Other than him, I don’t see many other potential black cantidates on the immediate horizon. Watts is too conservative by half, but could be the next V.P.
I think there’s a very, very good chance that Bush will choose someone other than Cheney to be his running mate. Certainly Bush no longer suffers from the seriousness issue that prompted the Cheney choice. Cheney will likely want out, and in any case will have a good excuse for health reasons. A new, younger V.P. would set the Republicans up nicely for 2008. Watts as V.P. would give Bush a political boost and might make a 2008 Powell run more difficult, and thus, unlikely - Important because I think the Republicans would rather not have Powell run.
All of them before an athiest or openly non-believer gets elected.
Black male, then female, white or black I’m not sure. Then Jewish, but never gay. Sorry.
Does the question mean “Who would be the first to be ‘electable’?” I honestly think we are at the point where if a qualified candidate were presented, all could be elected today, except the gay one. There’s still too many out there who won’t let that happen.
Condi Rice is the NSA right now and if she does well for teh next 7 years (If GW is re elected) she could be in a position to run. She’d fill two slots.
Don’t forget Buchanan!

I don’t think Powell wants it, or at least his wife is pretty adament against him taking it, and he’s protective enough of her not to run.
I’ve always thought that Harold Ford had a chance. He’s still too young, but 10-15 years from now, I’d be suprised if he wasn’t a big wheel in the Democratic party.

Damn you, Guin, beating me to it!
A woman president would be great but I think foreign relations would be a problem. Those extremely radical Islams hate us enough as it is.
