The signature was different. That’s why I said Howie kind of ruined his act. He told him to sign on the line and Howie signed it across the card at a slight angle.
I thought that - thanks for confirming.
Good to know, I forgot about “extra” acts. I’m surprised one of the judges didn’t comment about it being an original song, I know in the past they have. Then again, Grace won last year and am I don’t recall if all of her material was original but I know some of it was.
Thanks! Now I get it .
I forgot about that too. I’d bet that The Masqueraders will be one of the three. They’re good, all the judges like them, they have a nice story, etc.
On the other hand, they’re singers, and so far 9 of the 14 acts moving on are singers. I think they might lean more towards picking any other type of act for the sake of variety.
(For the record, I’m counting Darcy as a singer. The non-singers are: a comedian, the skating duo, the robot dancer boy, a magician, and the computerized light dance group.)
Good point.
DaNell Daymon & Greater Works - They’re a very good choir. It isn’t really my thing though but there’s no denying their talent.
Junior and Emily - I was kind of bored. I think there’s been much better dance acts on the show in the past. That isn’t to say they’re not good, everybody at this point is good (except Mirror Image).
Final Draft - I agree with Simon, the first half has mediocre, but the 2nd half was good. Good enough to go through? I don’t know there’s an awful lot of acts left.
Oscar Hernandez - I’m impressed with how talented he is but I’m not sure it is enough. I couldn’t watch him for an hour.
Angelina Green - She’s good but I think Mike Yung may have knocked her out.
Colin Cloud - I enjoyed it, but I was disappointed. I really like this guy and I love the act. Usually his showmanship is better. Tonight it really dragged. I think he’s in trouble and that’s too bad.
Mike Yung - Outstanding! Love this guy, love his voice!
Oskar and Gaspar - I love this!
Sara and Hero - I thought her act was better when she was telling a little story. All in all, it was fun. There’s a lot of other very strong acts though.
Chase Goehring - I love this!
Diavolo - Holy crap! The highest praise I can give is, I would pay to watch their act. The blew away Nock’s “Wheel of Death” from a couple of weeks ago. They HAVE to go through!
Kechi Okwuchi - She’s a great singer and she has a very touching story, which will translate into votes. To be clear, she’s a good enough singer to go through just on her singing merits.
(Likely Very Wrong) Prediction (As Usual)
Going Through
Mike Yung
Oskar and Gaspar
Daivolo
Chase Goehring
Kechi Okwuchi
On the bubble
Final Draft
Sara and Hero
DaNell Daymon & Greater Works
Dunkin Save: DaNell Daymon & Greater Works
Judge’s Pick: Sara and Hero
As long as Mike goes through, I’m happy.
Can’t believe Colin Cloud made it through.
Very happy Hero and his pet woman are going to continue.
I was surprised about Colin Cloud as well. I’m kind of glad he’s going through because I do like his act, although this last one was not his best. I’m not surprised, but extremely happy to see Diavolo go through. I was also very happy for Sara and Hero, I thought they would be on the bubble so it was nice to see them get in the top 5.
With respect to Matt Franco, what can you say, magic is real. (if you know, please don’t tell me how he did the trick)
This is my thought exactly.
I didn’t make my usual list tonight as I was playing with my new Fitbit; however, Darci Lynne can still win it all. Amazing! I very much enjoyed Preacher (or is it Pastor LOL) and Sara & Hero.
Yes, Darci Lynn, Sara and Hero, and Preacher were my favorites, too. I also want to see Mike Yung make it through to finaIs. I think it’s Darci’s to win.
Wow, lotsa of Dopers on the edge of their seats about this show, eh?
So, all three of acts anyone could bother to mention went through, yay!
And the skaters didn’t, I’m glad to say. Not that I hated them or anything (I just found the act damned repetitive) but I had a horrible feeling we might get to watch the girl get her skull cracked open on live TV as they vainly tried to continually “step up” their act.
Oh, and two singers, went through. My only reaction to that was Damn, we’ll have to hear about the girl’s sick father YET AGAIN. Jeez. This is supposed to be ‘vote for the best act’ not ‘who’s got the most touching sob story.’
’
Yes, I’m a grumpy old curmudgeon.
You are right, there were not many surprises last night.
The skaters were great, except that all they do is spin in a circle, it’s not going to get any better.
Hero and Loki are fantastic. Simon should pull them aside and tell them to drop Sara from the act, she’s the weak link.
No, you’re not grumpy. My 15 year old daughter has said the same thing. I feel for the poor kid, I really do and sure, she’s got some talent. Do I think she’s talented enough to be in the finals? No. Do I think she’s catching some sympathy votes? Absolutely. It’s made me a little crazy this year and I’m sure it’s always this way but I just said the other night, is having something shitty happen to you or having a sob story a prerequisite for appearing on the show? It seems that way sometimes. We all have baggage but after awhile everybody else just gets tired of hearing about it.
Then you all should probably not watch anymore. Her father passed away Thursday.
That’s sad to hear, and I’m sorry for her and her family, no one should have to deal with losing a loving father at such a young age but it has nothing at all to do with her talent.
