An accented MMP

That brings back memories. My grandparents lived in the city of Baltimore and they had a concrete back yard. But my grandfather always managed to get hold of a pallet for the dog to lie on. Back in the good old days, the boards were closer together than they are now, so Cousin (the dog) had his own personal deck and he didn’t have to lie on the cement.

Haven’t thought about that in eons…

Yeah, even pouring cement would be spendy. Besides, it becomes cold and damp, starts retaining the pee odors, and is really bad for the dogs’ joints.

I thought about trying to round up some pallets to at least elevate their dog houses for the time being, but I wouldn’t even know where to get them anymore.

Howdy Y’all! All deheathenated and **N.O.L.**ed. I feel the need for a nappy poo and so does OYKW. Ummm… other stuff may ensue as well.

Hubby nixed the idea of pallets. Back to square one…sigh.

Too tired to skim. Just got back from a nigh-three-hour hike with Culinary Boy. We saw our very first black bear in the wild. It was running away from us.

There’s a strawberry pie cooling in the fridge and a batch of cuke-onion salad marinating. I may get some hot dog buns and make weenies for supper. Easy-peasy.

Daughter and roomie are here with the truck from the apartment complex loading up the last of her stuff. Cozmo went on his first trip to the beach yesterday and apparently loved it. **FCD **is home in the TV position - he’s pooped from working in the bilge. It’s just too doggone hot for this early in the season.

I think I’m going to assume the knit position shortly and veg for a while. Just because.

Swamps, rest assured we are now properly meat-ed for smokage tomorrow. In fact, I’s goin’ on a smoking frenzy. I have a pork loin, a corned beef brisket to turn into pastrami, and a couple different kinds of sausage to go in, with apple chips providing the smoke.

I intend to freeze whatever isn’t selected for immediate consumption.

I’ve been to the dump, the storage unit, the grocery store, the car warsh, and the auto parts store today. I wish Sunday was the day of rest. Oh, and VWife just made sure I went back to the same grocery store for ice cream.

BBBobbio I am indeed glad to know you are properly meated for smokeage.

Maybe VWife will send you back to the same grocery store again for cookies to go with the ice cream. :stuck_out_tongue:

**BBBobbio **- Is the grocery to which you refer McKay’s? I don’t know if you’re a fan of seafood, but periodically, they do a seafood weekend where they set up a “dock” in front of the store and have all kinds of good stuff on ice. At least they do that in Leonardtown and Wildewood, so I assume they do the same down your way. Worth checking out, especially if you like crab legs.

Daughter just left. Poor thing is sick, and she’s still got to haul all that stuff in the truck up to the second floor. I’m noticing that roomie/bf of hers is similar to the almost-ex - content to sit and watch her work. Here’s hoping that continues and she does to him what she did to the ex…

Meanwhile, my sweetie is napping, so I’m thinking I’ll commandeer the TV and knit for a while.

:smack: Really, **FCM? ** She didn’t learn the first go-round? Hopefully, she’ll tire of it faster this time.

We ran to the store, picked up propane and some pavers to level out the kennel with, came home, picked up dog mess, mowed the lawn, and erected the kennel.
I wanted to get all the gate fixing stuff today too, but hubby didn’t want to mess with it. We’re doing that tomorrow, where, wait for it, we’ll have to pick up additional pavers. I wanted to go the less expensive route and just get 12x12 pavers to go all the way around the kennel. Hubby saw some “nicer” 16X16 pavers, but we only picked up 10 of them. Basically, we have to probably get about eight more minimum and they’re more than double the cost of the ones I originally wanted to get. Oh well.

Polar was very curious about the whole thing and seemed to content to be in there. Brandi didn’t really like it. We coaxed her out there, locked the gate and disappeared for about five minutes. Polar still seemed totally relaxed in there. Then we went back out and let them out. We’re leaving the kennel gate open so they can come and go in there as they please for today and tomorrow.

I’ll have to head to the grocery store in a few minutes. Hubby really wants to grill, so I need to buy meats.

Taters I’m glad to learn that you shall be properly meated for outdoor cookin’. These things always do concern me so.

It’s cloudy out. maybe we’ll get rain. We never did get out to the pool today. It just sorta turned into a lay around da cave day. We did, however, go get a burger a little while ago.

Think I’ll mosey outside and check out the weather situation.

I picked a succession of ‘the wrong guy’ for many, many years, Moomm - hopefully she’ll figure it out before I did.

Shrimps are marinating in jerk stuff, and the veggies are awaiting chunking. That is cut up chunked, not tossed around.

I don’t know if I’ve posted this recipe before.

Jerk Marinade
It’s very forgiving, and I substitute or omit stuff if I don’t have it.

2 tsp ground nutmeg
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp ground allspice
1/4 c soy sauce
1 c orange juice
juice of 1 lime
3 green onions, chopped
1/4 red onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 inch of ginger, chopped
1 habanero pepper, optional!!! (I leave it out)
pinch of salt
small pinch of black pepper

Blend (in a blender or food processor) all ingredients. Marinade shrimp only 30 minutes. Chicken can be marinaded for a couple of hours.

The little bathroom is now painted. But I was up the ladder removing the shower curtain pole this morning and I lost my balance (Stoopid knee!) and I dropped the drill and chipped the tub. Man nothing is going right at the moment. Shit!:frowning:

{{{mmmmmms}}} there there! Go have a glass of wine or three and relax.

Rebo that Jerk Marinade sounds like teh num! I lurves me some Jerk Chicken. I wonder how a little jalapeno would do in place of the habanero. Probably be good, right?

Swampus - Yes, indeedy!

Sorry, mmmmmmmmms. Time for a glass or three of wine, mm-hmm. Congrats on the painting, though!

Shrimp are skewered (with pineapple chunks!) Veggies are chunked and skewered also. (Peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, yellow squash, shallots.) And I have some asparagus ready to throw on the grill, too. Pasta water is ready to turn on to boil. Sippin’ my drink and relaxin’ for a minute.

Yeah, I’m hoping she’ll figure it out sooner rather than later, and definitely before she commits marriage again. She claims she can see herself spending the rest of her life with this one. Oh, remember how I mentioned he doesn’t have a driver’s license? Turns out he’s afraid to drive. So how soon will she get tired of chauffeuring his ass everywhere??

We had supper at Red Robin - and one meal was free - yay for Red Royalty Club! Then we ran by the boat to measure a section of the bilge. Now we’re home and I’m about to don my robe and chill for the rest of the evening. One more weekend day to go - that’s nice…

Shrimps were teh yum!

Strawberry shortcake, too…

How about My Little Pony? :stuck_out_tongue:

Marinade sounds yummy. I’ve added it to the blog. Also, discovered that a recent commenter added a pumpkin pancake recipe in a comment to one of Soapy’s recipes (one of the previous commenters had asked about pumpkin pancake recipes).

Spent most of the afternoon lazing around. Then went for a walk with brother. Pretty darn exciting day. Planning to be more productive tomorrow.

If no one else wants to get us started in the morning, I can…

I’s sleepified. Nitey Nite Y’all!
