As far as the above linked thread goes, I don’t see why some folks made such a big deal out of it. Sure, it wasn’t exactly genteel to use terms like “white trash,” but it isn’t like no one has heard the words before. It was also a fairly accurate way to describe what you were seeing, if only insofar as to conjure up a mental image.

Not that it’s a nice thing to say, mind you. I don’t want anyone to think I’m endorsing nasty stereotypes. They are not nice. Your use of them, in that context, wasn’t anything to rip you apart over, though. That’s just as mean.
