An April Foolish MMP

I just talked to Sis Tigs again; they’re taking her in for a CAT scan. But apparently when Sis Tigs told the doc about her falling multiple times and not pushing her button, the doctor responded, “Oh, one of THOSE, eh?” So I suspect it’s not unusual.

Apparently Grandma Tigs is coming around to the realization that maybe she should have pushed the button, though. First Friend yelled at her, then Sis Tigs, then the ambulance guy. She’s now advanced from “I wasn’t hurt” to “I don’t know why I didn’t.” Which actually may be closer to the truth.

Anyway, she’s continuing to produce copious amounts of blood , so we are all exceedingly worried. For obvious reasons.

YES! I’m starving!

Motivation came and went today. I wanna go home!

Call my boss and tell him I’m deathly ill and must leave the office at once, and I’ll call your boss and say the same. Deal?

I’m dreadfully unmotivated today. I just wrapped up an ugly project and would rather be anywhere else. I told my boss it would take x days to do, and I wrapped it up half a day early. So, I should be able to go play.

In particular, I’ve got a fun, creative project that’s waiting for me, but I need to block off about half a day to get to the rental darkroom place, learn how to use their massive “drum” scanner, then scan several large-format negatives so I can then clean up and crop the images, then ship the images off to a large-format print house.

Adding to the urge to do this is the email that came in from Amazon a while ago that my pre-order of the new version of Photoshop has shipped. Can’t do it today anyway - the negatives are at home.

And yes, I still need to build my new website. All that’s there so far is the “hosted by” placeholder from my ISP. Heck, I haven’t even decided on what color scheme to use.

Feel better Taters and Rosie. Heh. Anybody who has ever wanted to get out of anything with me (work or elsewise) just has to mention pukin’ up. For me the tossin’ of one’s cookies is an automatic pass.

I did not go to work. Instead I called up ye olde dentiste and mentioned this sore on the roof of my mouth and was he who would be the medical type who would deal with such things. Turns out yes he would be. He lanced it. Actually it didn’t hurt at all when he did that. So, I have me some antibiotics and am doin’ warm salt water gargles every couple hours, which feels really, really good! My mouth feels better too. YAY!

BioTigs here’s hopin’ MamaTigs is ok. That worries me. Well, you and TigSis too, I know. The first thing that popped into my head is that it’s time to look at assisted living. That, however, ain’t my bidness so that’s as much as I’ll say.

BBBobbio don’t go givin’ beebs any ideas.

Everybody else… Howdy!

No, no, that’s a perfectly reasonable suggestion. And don’t think it hasn’t crossed our minds before. Problem is, she really hasn’t needed it – last year when I was out there Papa Tigs and Tig Sis and I had a good talk about all the things to look at, and she does fine with all of them – she lives in a retirement community so has lots of services close at hand, has been in pretty good health, mind still sharp, physically mobile, eats a really good diet (she’s diabetic and follows a dietitian’s recommendations closely), is involved in lots of activities, has three people who check up on her daily (and I call her several times a week), etc., etc. She’s been just fine being independent, y’know? And frankly, our family tends to be so long-lived that it was hard to even think of her as old until she hit 85 or so; her mother lived to 94, and was the same way, able to be quite independent right up to the end.

This incident is pretty worrying, though. She’s being admitted, and the admitting diagnosis is GI bleeding – gee, you think? She’s lost enough blood she may need a transfusion, and obviously they need to find the source of the bleeding right quick. But she’s at a good hospital and is now in the hands of a gastroenterologist, so hopefully we’ll find out that it’s something that can be dealt with. As in not cancer or something nasty like that. :frowning:

Anyway, we shall see what happens. I guess we should find out what’s wrong before we start moving her out of her condo and into assisted living!

I have the day off and I think I just want to be a spud today. Actually I’m doing laundry, and I have chickie tittie soup started in the slow cooker. At least I have more than enough downtime to watch some more of the first season of The L Word. Yay for Netflix.

Wow, it sounds like there is a plague attacking the Mumpers. I’ve only had about a day and a half feeling icky so far this winter. I credit my flu shot and not having to work as often as usual. {{{Taters and Rosie}}} Healing vibes, and also for anyone else I missed that needs them. I’m glad you’re mouth is feeling better Swampy, that salt water gargle can work wonders.

2 Mumpfests in one week. Awesome. I haven’t had the opportunity to meet any Dopers yet, much less a Mumper. I really like the pic of the 4 of you mt. penis, and I can’t wait for FCM to post her pics.

If I have to I can get there pretty quickly – 14 hours by car, and I would definitely want to have my car. Right now I’m working and am waiting for more news, and am also trying to figure out if it’s good or bad that we’re really busy today!

Grandma is no idiot, but she’s stubborn as all hell.

BioTigs and snowbunny Grandma Tigs is my thoughts and prayers.

Spaz I saw that Dear Abby letter in the paper this mornin’ and thought of you. Matter of fact everytime I read Dear Abby (yes, I do read Dear Abby) I find myself thinkin’, “What would Spaz have to say about this?” I just know that makes you so proud!

We need to get BookCat back, or BBBobbio is going to be overwhelmed with the sickies here.

I am not sick. I am going to the last Cool Bar to watch the Canes play. If we win, we clinch the division and a playoff spot. If so, I might be a little sick and hungover tomorrow. Luandry is done, and I may clean the bathroom.

{{{Taters, rosie, All the Tigs, and anyone else I forgot}}}

Stressful day here and now my parents are fighting.

Oops, my french fry timer just went off, back later.

Am back from dentist and running errands and library. Car sounds like a sick moose in heat. This cannot be good.

Dentist needs to remove a filling to “fully explore” the micro-cracks in my tooth. Gah. #2 son apparently has ridged teeth–they are not smooth, so they are at risk for plaque and decay. Great. I also have a cleaning appt for #1 son, an appt for fillings (2) for Daughter and a follow up appt for #2 son to get a sealant.

And then we start on the doctor appts.
grandma Tigs will most likely trigger that safety thing from now on, no? Let’s hope the trauma of falling caused the bleeding. Did she break a hip? (hope not). Best of luck to her (and you guys).

YES I want peanut butter cookies of any kind! If you can put some chocolate on them somehow, so much the better.

Spazcat–maybe Ann is mentally challenged? Some of the letters over the years (I haven’t read her column in about 10) HAD to been made up. Truth is stranger than fiction and all that, but still…

anyrose–get better, NOW.

Ok, Bobbio–what have you been smoking? I wear a hat now, I’m whooshed so much.

{{{Taters, Rosie, Rigs, Tigs, Pie… And anyone else what needs it.}}}

Hey, McUne!! ::Sesame Street growl:: “Koooo…kieeee!”

Rigs, yes, there is chocolate on them. Here’s a link to a picture of them. Well those aren’t the ones I made, I googled the picture, but they look the same! I think I made 9 dozen of them. Yikes!!! Half of them are in the freezer at least.

**Special1 ** you made me laugh. Maybe we should start calling you Cookie Monster.

hugs the Tigs family It’s tough when they get older innit it?

When I think of Great Grandma I think of her little home and visiting her and snitching candies from the bowl on the coffee table or eating homemade donuts and drinking juice. She’s in a care facility now, and will be turning 97 this year but I try to see her when I can.

Just as long as you promise to misspell it as Cockie Monster (or Nookie Monster) every so often

LOL, you are so bad. Though I couldn’t call you that until I get to experience it.
I forgot in my other post {{{{{tigs family}}}}}.

Yeah, I know… everybody always says my puns are awful:frowning:

I’ll just go and hide in an empty room or something…
