An April Foolish MMP

{{{rigs}}}

{{{Tigs & whitebunny}}}

I just found out that they’re tearing down the wall next to my cubicle to build a new security office. On Friday. Like, THIS Friday.

The problem is, that’s my permanent desk over at the downtown office… a desk I haven’t been able to visit in nearly 3 weeks, because I’ve been dispatched to our suburban offices where IT is located… in an office I probably won’t have a chance to get back to before June, let alone Friday 2pm when they start construction.

Poop. Hope they can find someone to pack up my desk for me. I need that stuff, honest! (who else is everyone at the office going to mooch Advil off of, hmmm?)

I’ve spent most of the day being very entertained by the antics of the geese in the pond outside. Spring must be in the air… they’re looking rather frisky. :slight_smile:

Thank you all for the hugs.

And Anthony does nothing for me. I might need to hear him, but on sight-a great big meh.

Turkey breast (marinated in lemon, garlic and basil) is in the new oven. I think I’ll make rice to go with, and a salad.

Having been through what I went through this morning, I made an executive decision and did no library practicum work or homework. I will do both tomorrow, when I am home not making money. I did manage to get some hours on this Saturday, so perhaps all will be well.

The creeping charlie is all nice and green. I’d like (on Sunday now) to get out there and KILL, KILL, KILL before it gets too lush. It’s mixed in with my ajuga and that makes it hard to weed out (and prevents my spraying [de]napalm[/del] Round-Up).

Yay on the dress for the wedding and new bra; boo on the desk demolition.

FCM, YAY on the dress and the new bra.

I need new bras. I hate bra shopping. They discontinued the bras that I love and that fit me so well and I can never find anything that fits nearly as good.

I would just like to clarify and state for the record that I do NOT have a thing for Anthony Bourdain; I was just referencing Ivory’s post about her dream.

Suuuure… :wink:

And for the record- it’s an attitude thing, not a looks thing!

Awww, rigs. That stinks. Have you thought about getting a different car with cheaper overall maintenance costs? That might be something you can do to keep something a bit more under control going forward. Find a nice, solid, used car that gets decent mileage…? It would definitely work out cheaper in the long run if you can swing it.

Hugs to everyone else who needs them. Still keeping Granny Tigs and snowbunny and BioTigs in my thoughts, too.

beebs sent hugs. Heh.

Good to know, cuz we were planning to report you to KeithT. :smiley:

I’m guessing Mr. Bourdain is one of those men who, despite not being classically handsome, comes off as devastatingly attractive. I went to grad school with someone like that.

I’m home. Work today was not awful. I even got a few things done.

I think I’m having chicken spaghetti for dinner. Guess I should go see about that.

Back later.

I thought I had one with the Volvo! I have decided that this is the last repair for this car. It’s too bad, too–I love this car. It handles really well and carries a lot of stuff (it’s a station wagon) etc. But, yes, I need to plan for a car payment soon (next fall maybe?). It’s got 88,000 miles on it. The body is in really good shape, the tires are 2 years old, the brakes are good and fairly new. It gets about 24-27 MPG.

Chicken spaghetti sounds intriguing. We had the turkey (how nice it was to have a homecooked meal for a change–it’s been since 3/18 without an oven around here), the rice was good, too and the green beans. Yum. I am now full.

Re Anthony–like I said, I’d have to see him in action, so to speak. But then, do I really need another distraction? :wink:

The problem I’ve heard of with Volvos (and with VWs and other imports that I’m not remembering) is that they’re very solid, but when they do need repairs they’re more expensive than average. I might be wrong, though…I’ve never owned a Volvo. In any case, I’m sure you can pull through this and it does sound like you’ll both be happier apart. But, yeah, the financial part of a divorce is painful.

Chicken spaghetti is just chopped/shredded chicken in spaghetti sauce. I’m using up Easter leftovers. We had it for dinner at one point when Local Best Friend’s family was visiting. I haven’t made it in a long time, but I wanted to make sure the chicken didn’t go to waste.

Need to do some more cooking and freezing tonight. Should be exciting.

Back later with detailed reports, of course.

::drive-by, mostly::

They think my grandpa has pneumonia. :frowning: It’s very scary to me because even though he’s generally in better shape than me, he IS almost 80 years old.

Hugs to you too, Pie, and good thoughts and prayers for grandpa as well.

Traffic was hellacious today, so my carpool buddy and I spent 2 hrs crawling home at 15kph. Left at 5ish, got home past 7ish. Have I mentioned lately how much I hate working in the 'burbs and how much I miss my cushy downtown office? The things I do for the sake of my career, I tell ya.

The Boy is comforting me by making pesto pasta with shrimp and peas. Huzzah.

Off to console myself with pasta and watch another episode of The Wire.

{{Pie}} So sorry to hear about your grandpa. Sending good thoughts for a quick recovery in his direction.

{{[{{Pie and Pie’s grandpa}}}}} It really sucks when grandparents are ill. :frowning:

Hugs to all needin’ them. Truthfully I only skimmed to catch up and say hi y’all.

Hi y’all.

Wifey and I are having a nice quiet night in tonight.

Um…thassall I think. Anyway, I’m on this thing most of the night. Maybe I’ll drop in again.

{{Pie and Grandpa Pie}}

To make you feel a bit less worried, my grandmother (snowbunny’s great-grandmother) got pneumonia at the age of 95. She utterly defied the odds; recovered completely and was back to her assisted living within a month (after a recuperation period at a nursing home, where she played social director and did her own exercises since they weren’t having her do strenuous enough stuff!). She lived for nearly another eight years. So pneumonia, while worrisome, can be dealt with even by very old people if they’re in good health to begin with. Which it sounds like Grandpa Pie is.

We now have a new worry about Grandma Tigs: Her knee, and then leg, started swelling up just horribly today. She’d been complaining about it aching, but it wasn’t till they went to get her up in a chair that TigSis saw it and realized it was more than just achy from lying in bed too long. She can’t put any weight on it. :frowning: Last I heard, a couple hours ago, she was getting x-rays; it may be broken.

So it looks like whatever’s happening, she’s not going straight back to her condo from the hospital! Fortunately, there’s a nice nursing home next door to her retirement community, which she’s on the board of, so presumably she’ll go there when she’s allowed out of the hospital. Which won’t be till we find out what caused the bleeding, obviously!

Things are definitely not going well. :frowning: I just “dealt” with it by taking a 3-hour nap. Yeah, that’s real productive of me. :rolleyes:

**I AM THE SLUG QUEEN!**I have wasted 3 days of vacation. Granted I haven’t been feeling that well, but you’d think I’d take advantage of this to go thru my papers for my tax guy - who will probably kill me. Well, no fun after work activities for me next week. I can’t tomorrow because I’ll be doing all my pre competition errands and I can’t over the weekend because I’ll be in Philly. Oy! I am definitely Queen of the Slugs

I’ll make you one, but you have to come to Cottonfield County to get it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m an hour and change away from Greenvegas.

All these senior citizen honorary MMPers need to get well, quick! We can’t have **Gpa Pie **or GTigs out sick. Tell 'em to shape up!
I’m going for a walk. It’ll do me good. No word on the car.
Anyrose--I am in your court as a Lady in Waiting. I also had no motivation today. I must put nose to grindstone on the morrow. I will–I can see light at the end of the tunnel for the practicum. But then there’s this huge paper to write for my class. Ugh.

#1 son’s boss just called. He has to work this Saturday at 0900. She will let him have 5/11 off so he can come to my graduation. Yay!

Home from visiting the kid’s future inlaws. They just bought a house and are starting to move in. They intend to have an after-wedding party there. That’s in a month. They plan to spend at least 2 weeks moving in. I think they’re insane. But whatever…

I’m a nice mommy - I did my baby’s dishes and cleaned her kitchen. And it looks like I’ll have to order more of the champagne flutes - 10 of them got warped in the dishwasher. I thought for sure I’d turned off the hot dry, but I guess not. We’ve got 90, but we need 93. And they’re only sold in packs of 25. So unless 3 anticipated guests drop out…

Just found out my BIL, who is an ordained Baptist minister, wants to perform the ceremony. The kids have already asked a friend to do it for them. They most definitely don’t want a religious ceremony, and BIL is rather verbose. I may have to say something to my MIL tomorrow. GAH!

I’m tired - wonder if I can fall asleep early tonight. Yeah, right. For some reason, I can’t seem to relax once I turn off the light. Too much on my mind, I guess. I’ll be glad to get home.

Well, part of me wants to call my grandma and yell at her for worrying me, but really that wouldn’t do a damn bit of good. It’s so frustrating being as far away as I am, and I’m now living closer than I ever have, but it’s still nearly 700 miles. I can’t afford to go there unless things which I won’t even think about happen; my boss is awesome and will let me have time if I need it, but if I don’t work, I don’t get paid. Grandma drives me crazy, but she’s my grandma, dammit, the only one I have left. I hate this. :frowning:

On a cheerier note, I’m glad to hear things are mostly going well in Florida, FCM. Let’s hope BIL will be reasonable when he’s told arrangements have already been made but his offer is appreciated. Concerning all the moving, I have to move soon. In fact, I have to check tomorrow’s paper to see what’s in the classifieds. This town is so small, the paper comes out only twice a week(!).

Hey, MamaTigs, can you come do my kitchen? The floor is in dire need of a good mopping, and neither of us here have done it.

I too have done virtually nothing today, aside from two loads of laundry and taking a shower. Tomorrow I must go to the shelter and see the kitties. I need some kitty love, and maybe some puppy love as well depending on who has arrived. We’re into the beginning of puppy season and soon will also be deluged with kittens. I’m looking forward to the kittens, because I really want to love on them as well as on all the adults.

Hey all, it’s been partly sunny today and lots of growth has begun in my flower beds, it must be Spring!

(((hugs))) to Mama Tigs, snowbunny and the entire tigs family, what a scary situation. Prayers for Gramma Tigs.
(((hugs))) to rigs too. Car stuff bites, I know that I paid for our mechanics new truck, just as I paid for my veterinarians new house.
(((hugs))) to pie and prayers for Grampa pie.

Am I the only one who is seeing Mt. Penis as a command rather than a description?

mousie and rigs I think you have to watch Anthony for a while to see his yummy sexiness. Then again, I like a dry wit, more than a bit of sarcasm and cynicism, and a willingness to Adventure. Hey snowbunny, better yet, after the romp he could cook for you! My kinda guy! I kinda have a thing for chefs I guess, as I am totally into Gordon Ramsay, even more than Anthony.

It has taken me all afternoon to write this, but I have gotten almost all of the laundry done, so I have accomplished something. Everyone I missed, I meant to take notes as I read, but flaked. rosie the best of luck with the competition, BBBobio I want cake too, but I can’t come to get it, so too bad for me, hi MGB, yay to FCM for all you have accomplished, I hope the dive home is supremely uneventful…skiffman just walked in the door, so I must now pay attention to him.

p.s. I am about to slay my teenagers…rawr!
