Trailer and van are unloaded. Most of the crap is put where it needs to be till the kids get here. Van and trailer are parked in the yard and cars are back in the garage. Fourth load of laundry in the washer, two more to go.
Snow comes and goes here, it’s more or less melted now but it’s getting annoying (I hear Edmonton had a blizzard the other night…). I just want some warm and green and no longer needing to wear a winter jacket (it’s my light winter jacket, but still).
Happy birthday HRH!! Love the pictures.
Yesterday was busy, I was up early to be to the tykes and tots fair and managed to get a bunch of pants and some tops for Velociraptor and a new jacket with the tag still on for 20 bucks (about 80 new). I also grabbed a few movies (The Brave Little Toaster, The Indian in the Cupboard and a couple others) and Velociraptor picked out a Mr Potato head for himself. He then spent the afternoon at a friend’s while Mom and I went to work our shift at the sale. By the time i got home I was so tired I just skipped the anniversary party at the yarn store and went to bed soon as Velociraptor did, so I slept lots.
Today I’ve simply gone through the cupboards and fliers, and made up a grocery list. Now I have to decide if I have enough energy to go grocery shopping today or shall I just stay home and putter in my kitchen.
ETA: Oh! I found out who is going to be at the retreat this year… the Yarn Harlot!!! Man now I really am looking forward to going (I was before, it’s just even more so now!)
Yeah, I’ve had to deal with her before about the pool. I am a social animal but I do get to decide who comes to da cave. I’m just picky, I guess. Oh and caffienation, catching up on the news and most important of all checkin’ out the Dope count as major activities. I say you now need a nap.
Me too on stuff breakin down Muppet. I am afraid to even think about what else might go wrong at da cave today. So far, the motor in a ceiling fan has decided to die and, I fear, the pump might have gone out at the pool.  I do not want or need a major repair/replacement like that right now. Pool man will be out to check it out in the mornin’. He doesn’t mind bein’ called on weekends about stuff. I like pool man.
People are weird. I prefer to keep telling myself this, rather than despair of humanity.
That stress reduction device looks effective, if somewhat painful.
I just organized my “My Pictures” folder and now I’m all nostalgic. Jeeeesus Christ, judging by my photos alone, I’m surprised any of us ever did any studying last year.
A nap sounds nice, Swampy.Mr. Taters got quite a kick out of you calling my morning activities “major” and laughed about the nap part.
Unfortunately, I really do need to hit the grocery store. Bleah, I hate grocery shopping. Well, I don’t hate it, but I’m just sick of doing it all the time. My son eats like a freakin’ horse, so food disappears quickly. This is the same kid who I used to worry about because I felt he didn’t eat nearly enough.
Last night, he ate a whole 11 inch pizza by himself! I got through one piece of my pizza (which was delish), but I was struggling to get through that.
I am just a bit hungry now, but nothing in the house appeals to me, and I don’t want to go to the grocery store hungry. I’ll end up buying a bunch of stuff we don’t need.
Speaking of groceries, PapaJohn made supper, because I need to get groceries, but I don’t feel like it. I had to pick up my meds, and since it’s right across the street from Papa’s, I combined 2 trips in one. If that isn’t environmentally responsible, I don’t know what is. <insert halo on me>
Laundry is almost done. However, there’s a huge pile of clothes on the bed that I’d brought home from Mom’s. I’ll sort thru that after I finish washing the last load. I expect a bunch of those clothes will be goodwilled.
It’s still rainy and chilly and ick out, but I’m glad for the rain. We’re still experiencing a deficit, so every drop seeping into the ground is good.
Speaking of water, that reminds me of one unpleasant thing I’d forgotten about Florida - the sulfur taste of the water. It didn’t seem that strong when I lived there - guess I got used to it. Glad our well is sulfur-free.
Taters I do seem to recall you talking about your son not eating a few years back. My how times change! Ok, go to the grocery store then take a nap. Fighting the ravening hoardes at the store is a major napworthy chore.
So far nuttin’ else has decided to break down at da cave. Let us all hope the trend continues. I happened to remember that I do have a still in the box brand new ceiling fan. What? Doesn’t everybody have a spare? I got it a couple of years ago from somebody who bought it then decided not to put it up and asked if I wanted it. At the time I had considered putting it in the study cause the fan in the box does not have a light kit and I really don’t need an overhead light in here (The study is where I am right now. The fan in the study has a light) but I didn’t. Now, I could take the one down in here, put it where the one with the burned out motor is (guest bedroom which probably is a good place for an overhead light) and put the fan in the box here in the study. Hmmm… that would involve taking down two ceiling fans, reinstalling one of ‘em elsewhere and puttin’ in the new one. That sounds like a lot of work. Mayhaps I need to give it a little thought?
I’m commencin’ to have hunger pangs. Food must be foraged. Later Y’all.
Just finished uploading pics of my apartment to my blog. I sent an email out to our grad school listserve as well. Hopefully I won’t have to deal with craigslist.
In other news, Cloud Maiden hasn’t gotten back to me with the rent. Argh.
Thanks for the info on what it’s called, but I was actually referring to the way he had it … kinda upturned. Not the usual way of wearing the Keffiyeh, although according to that wiki cite, there are plenty of ways of wearing them!! And oh yeah, he is cute.
I’m back from fighting the crowds at the grocery store. What? Did everybody decide the time I went was the time to shop? Sheesh, it was really crowded there.
Unfortunately, there is still no nap in the works. Something has died in my fridge, so I need to clean it out. I hate it when that happens. This will also include having to do dishes, because I suspect some leftover has “turned” and is what is causing the odor.
Isn’t life at our household just so very interesting? I know you all think so…not.
My son is over at our friend’s house earning some moolah by weeding the flowerbeds. His going rate is $7.00 an hour, so he’s made nearly $30.00 by now. I don’t know how long he intends to stay there and work.
Tonight’s dinner shall be turkey cheddar burgers. You mix the ground turkey with shredded zuchinni, red onions and other stuff to help keep the meat moist. You’re supposed to fry them out on a ridged pan, but I don’t have one, so my regular pan or griddle will have to do.
Sigh, I guess I should get started on that fridge. Our fridge is very deceiving. It always looks like it’s chock full of food, but that’s only because leftover become “forgotten” and shoved to the back. Before I know, there isn’t any room left in it.
Thank you for going to the store today, so that when I go tomorrow, it will be nice and quiet.
I can’t even begin to tell you about the computer and Word issues I’ve had today.
Another gorgeous day here, but I could not garden today. (grrr). I did get a long bike ride in–to and from 2 different libraries. I have to work on either my paper or my practicum project tonight. Joy.
Has anyone here read the Tales of the Otori trilogy? Very nice. I’m on book 2.
I am tired. Can someone go to bed at 6:35 pm and still be considered a Cool Kid? I think not. Off to do homework.
I just confessed in another thread that I like Irish Spring soap. I may be all alone over there. I’ll just have to trust that my choice of bathing product is not pitworthy.
Laundry is done and put away. The big bag of clothing that I brought back from Mom’s has been sorted for keep/goodwill/trash. Most of it is going to Goodwill, and only a few old bathing trunks with dead elastic went to the trash. **FCD ** kept a few pairs of sweatpants, some t-shirts, and a polo shirt.
I can now relax for an hour before bed.
I think I need a vacation to recover from vacation. And chocolate - I need chocolate.
But… but… I’m all Irish Springy smellin’. Well, not right now, but in the mornin’s for a little while. The Icy Blast one feels sooooooooo good! If I could find that shower gel that smells like grapefruit again, I’d smell all grapefruity.
Ok, I’ve left a good fruit joke wide open. Y’all have at it!
HEE!
Yes you do want steak for dinner. Medium rare. With a baked potato. Butter and sour cream of course. Maybe some cheese too. A nice side salad with a vinegarette dressing. Maybe a roll. Then a slice of chocolate cake with some fresh whipped cream for dessert. I suggest a nice merlot to compliment your steak.
Anybody else got a dindin decision I can help with?
No, but I’ll support your use of Irish Spring if you’ll tell me that I am not incredibly ignorant as has been said elsewhere. (not linking because it’s not all that important).
I think I may have been on the Dope too long or something. I’m starting to look at poster’s post counts and using that to gauge the validity of their insults… <need to get a life. Must make a list>
