An Artsy-Fartsy Aftermath MMP

Interesting story, Bobbio. Thanks for lightening up our mornings.

There’s some tension on the home front. Not so much in my home, but in my brother’s home & his wife’s and his mom’s. Aargh. My family is so fucked-up it’s unbelievable. Everybody uses drama to get their way, and throws tantrums and acts like characters out of a movie. So did I, years ago, before I learned what real life was like. However most of my family has never been opposed (except by me, and I didn’t attempt to change them, simply fought to change my own life) so they still think the way they do it is the “right way”.
Sigh.

rigs, I’m glad the fever broke. I hope you feel all better soon.
rosie, congrats on the progress! Soon you’ll be pogo-sticking all over!
Okay, okay. I know some people meet their spouses and just know, but given that my MIL has had a)disasterous taste in men, and b)not very good people judgement in general, I’m deeply suspicious. I think in general your new friend/new love interest is always “perfect” after two weeks. It’s only later you discover he snorts his soup through a straw.
I think I feel okay today. I don’t think I’m going to puke. This is particularly good today because I’ve got an ultrasound at one, and I need to be able to drink and hold down lots of liquids beforehand. And then not pee when they poke me in the bladder with the ultrasound wand.

Lord, it’s hot. Make it stop. I’m tired of summer.

After a week of work? It can’t be that hard!

I’m leaving work today now. I have to go golf. We’re having our annual golf outing.

I hate having fun (and beervages) while I’m getting paid for it. So unfair.

That was me yesterday, except it’s not my only outing of the year. One of our high school’s athletic dept. fundraisers was yesterday - perfect weather, cute beer cart girls, and a nice meal after.

I am NOT catching up on the rest of this from yesterday. Too much reading.

I’m perfectly amenable to having paid liesure time paid forward by someone who feels they have too much. I have no ethics in that regard. :stuck_out_tongue:

A shitty job, but somebody’s got to do it? :dubious:

The wounds are latex, just like the theatrical appliques, but they’re real thick (1/4 inch) because they are used more than a handful of times. We use a lot of makeup for bruises, too. Blood is red corn syrup, and the victims hate it because it leaves the quite sticky.

BBB, hee! I like it. Except that when I see it written as initials like that, I think of you as “Better Business Bob.” Which obviously isn’t quite right.

Mork, your cow-orker who sets his phone on “away” reminds me of something Papa Tigs encountered not too long ago. One of the help desk people was setting her phone on “away” and then sitting there yakking with her friends all day instead of working. She thought because she was talking on the phone, people coming in would think she was busy. What she didn’t know was that her phone status is visible on every computer in the place, and the phones can be programmed in masse from the same computer program; so Papa Tigs just disabled the “away” feature altogether on everyone’s phone. So now she’s forced to take work calls. Hee!

My fun ultrasound story, LiLi: I drank all the liquids as instructed. And then when they started my ultrasound, the tech said, “Oops, your bladder is too full. Go empty it HALFWAY.” That’s right, when I was so full I was about to pop, I had to pee part of it out and then hold it again! I managed, but man oh man that was torture. So after that I knew how full they wanted my bladder and only drank enough to get me that far, which was never as much liquid as they told me to drink.

I stayed up waaaaay too late last night working, and got up early to finish up this long job this morning. Then I don’t know what I will do. Besides take a long nap, I’m tired! I only got about half as much sleep as I would have liked. I’m definitely sleeping in tomorrow morning, no matter what else happens!

Banana creme Twinkies? Yumm! I’ll have to find some!

Back to the salt mines.

Um! Crazy people! That’s not exactly easy to do, you know!

Sweet! Thanks guys! I’ll email you… well, soon. Work’s a little busy at the moment, but when I get a break in the action, I’ll finish reading the MMP and email both of you.

The knitters in my church makes prayer shawls for people who are going through difficult times so as soon as I get halfway decent at this knitting thing, I’ll be making shawls that will go to people in need. So your yarn will go to a good cause.

Yikes! I just looked at my Uni records page and it says the results for the course I finished in April will be available at the end of next week. Better put the champagne on ice!

Well, dear, it’s not as though I’m going to rush home this instant and bring back a bunch of yarn for you to use. Knowing as you do that I live in Cohoes and work on Wolf Road, that’s a 20 minute trip both ways!

Don’t worry, when you get time. I’ll try to send it out by Friday or so!

Drat. Oh, well. Maybe I’ll only throw up once today.
Empty your bladder halfway? They expect better muscular control than it’s reasonable to think most people have. I’ll only drink some of the recommended amount, so I don’t have to do that. Yeesh.

I’ve never heard of anyone else doing that. The trick is that your bladder has to be full, but not so full that you can barely hold it. So drink as much as you need to to feel like you’ve got to pee sometime in the next half hour, not in the next 30 seconds. I tend to drink a lot of liquids and pee a lot anyway, so I was probably just an unusual case. Needless to say, though, it was a memorable (!!) experience!

Way to go, BBBobbio!

taxi, I’d be more than happy to send you yarn, too. I have more than enough to share.

And for all of you drinking on the company dime: :stuck_out_tongue:

Garbage pickup is on Monday. Today is Wednesday. The garbage still has not been picked up. The landlord called on Monday, I called last night, and this morning, the garbage truck raced by, but didn’t stop. They’ve been late before, sometimes swinging back late on Monday night, or Tuesday at the latest, but it’s never gone to Wednesday before. The garbage cans are full, and it’s going to be hot today. Week-old garbage + heat = Bleargh! I do bag the cat litter, and tie it off tightly, but it’s going to be overpowering soon.

Running gorillas, freaking-out gorillas, gorilla hair landscaping… It’s still only Wednesday morning and we have so many gorillas! AND Twinkies with banana filling!

Gorilla, gorilla, gorilla, gorilla… that word just looks goofy!

We’ve got
Gorillas for sale
Magilla
Gorilla

For sale!

Won’t you
Buy him
Take him home and try him…

Back from the park, and just in time, it’s raining. When it stops I have to go get bread, my loaf is a little fuzzy [Raider of The Lost Ark]Indy, why does the bread move?[/RoTLA]

Well, I started the day out with a blue shirt. It now has red spots (ink? I have no idea where it came from and what it is) and faint yellow splotches from a mango smoothie that dripped from the lid. I used water and Shout wipes to some effect, but I brought curry for lunch. Maybe I should have sloppy joes for dinner and replace the toner in the copier, just to cover all the bases. I’m so glad I changed out of that white shirt at the last minute!

I finally had that meeting with my supervisor, so I feel confident that I’m on the right track. Work is slow, but that should be changing soon.

Yuck. Missed garbage pickup in summer is very bad.

I’m back, and I have baby pictures. Well, the tech said it was a baby. :dubious: It looks kind of like a blob. I threw up most of the water, but we still saw tinyninjachef on the screen. As a reward for both of us, I picked up some yummy pastries at one of the 100000000 Greek bakeries right near the clinic. I’m going to eat loukomedes (little fritters soaked in honey) and lie around. It’s hot! Too hot to do anything!

Looking at that, all I can think of is an old issue of Mad Magazine that lampooned One Flew Over the Cuckoos’ Nest. The stuttering kid in that was BBilly BBibbitt…
