An Artsy-Fartsy Aftermath MMP

So I have a question - one of the comments said that the subtitles were misleading and implied that they gave a false impression as to what the song was actually about. What do you think - are they more or less accurate, or too distorted to be meaningful?

Halfway through my paper. Debating whether to have coffee or not at this hour.

I would drink coffee at this hour. I mean, if I was planning to stay up much longer. But I’m going to bed soon, gotta get up kinda early.

And as for the subtitles. I saw the comment, too. It’s almost a word-for-word translation so I’m not sure what the comment is all about. I mean, it’s all double entendre - “share a quilt with someone”, “get some coal from the neighbor’s fire”, but it means exactly what they said.

I was at the library today when I saw a mom arguing with the head librarian about a DVD. I think the mom lost the DVD and was trying to pass off another copy of it to the library. But since it wasn’t exactly the same copy, they wouldn’t allow it. So the mom was really upset because I think she had to pay something like $40 for a DVD. Anyway, while she’s writing the check, her little girl (maybe somewhere between 5 and 7 years old) starts fussing a little and the mom turns to her and says, “it’s your fault that I’m paying this because you lost it (the DVD).” And the way she said it was so spiteful and mean. I just stood there flabbergasted. Poor little girl. I hope she doesn’t become a juvenile delinquent.

Morning all, from the Middle East!

**dogbutler **-- 41 (well, 40 :)) days until what? I think I need some filling in.

Li-Li – manage to get through the whole day nausea-less? Yay!

**Rosie **-- Yay for getting through the whole week of a normal schedule!

**Swampy **-- if you don’t like dem Northern Union States :D, you can always open a Real Southern Food Joint right here – people will be licking their fingers (and Tel-Aviv will be very friendly to ACBG and you)

Everyone with Mother problems – it’s in their job description to tie us down. It’s in ours to get away.

And hell, yeah, “Not Touching You” is a game that develops spontaneously within 10 seconds of touching being disallowed. Done it to my parents (and sibs) as a child; have to suffer the results as a father :smack:

That’s all

What, you’re expecting something more? My promises to behave TMI were onl good for yesterday; I’m even playing it safe and not saying a word about Mika’s clip

This is why I’m afraid to have kids. I can be so petty sometimes. We read some psycho-analytic theories about motherhood in one of my poetry classes, and there was one about the “good-enough mother” who was able to deal with her children’s “attacks” on her (e.g., throwing tantrums, making unreasonable demands) by neither retaliating (reacting violently, losing your temper the way the mother did by snarking at her daughter) nor being defeated (giving into the child’s demands). Having dealt with younger students I’ve realized how hard it is not to do either.

Finished that sonnet paper. You can find me tomorrow buried in sand next to Lake Michigan. I’ll be the one eating cookies and reading fantasy novels.

My bladder woke me at 4, and the cat was waiting to jump on my head seconds later. When she settled down, I managed to doze till almost 5:30, but she came back. And, amazingly enough, **FCD ** was awake, too. So he took the critters out and fed them and now he’s in the shower. I came on line to check the hours for the dump (8-4:30 Mon-Sat) Guess what we’re doing today!

Summer is going to sorta sneak back today, then whomp us tomorrow. I guess I’ll be closing the windows this afternoon. Goodbye, fresh air. It was good while it lasted!! <sigh>

Happy Saturday, all!

Morning all! My mother rang last night to see if we’d survived the flooding, she was watching the local news and heard there was a mini tornado in Tipton which is just down the road from us. Of course, nothing like that happens over here…we just had torrential rain.

How is everyone today? I got up late and then spent a while fiddling about with some web pages. We’re doing a charity event next month (I might even volunteer to do the MMP the day after so you can all hear about it) and have to raise some money before we can enter. So we’ve written begging letters to a bunch of local places and have received some tickets and passes back from the quite a few. The auction pages are finally uploaded and we had our first batch of bids in today.

I’m maintaining the site because although my friend wrote it all, she has no broadband access at home just now after some router problems, so it’s easy enough for me to do it. I can access the place from work too so I have the chance to update it during the day as well.

We’re about to have broadband issues of our own though - our provider (Virgin Media spit) has emailed us to say that they’re changing their broadband charging system so that we will be paying 25p per minute for our broadband access. Hmmm…give us broadband and then charge for it like dial-up? No, I don’t think so. That’s going to cost us a fortune if ‘im indoors is playing World of Soddin’ Warcraft for hours at a time.

We currently pay a flat-rate charge of about £60 per month which includes phone, tv and broadband. When Virgin took over the television service from NTL/Telewest, they dropped several Sky channels in a dispute over money and since then we’ve lost quite a few other channels so it really isn’t worth the money any more, and now they’re changing the broadband charging mechanism, it’s time 'im indoors went looking for a new provider.

Oh well, time to go and drink tea and scoff blueberry muffins.

Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienated here. About to go hit the shower and go be a good bear and help do stuff at the church. Hey, I get a free breakfast out of it and that’s always a good thing.

BioRosie and SpecialOne thanks for the invites but I think we’ll stay round these parts. Hmmm… Tel Aviv would be “very friendly”… so many, many ways to interpret that!

Mika that song was sump’n. I haven’t checked out the second link yet but I will. Also, can’t wait to show that to ACBG… I swear a couple times in that first video I half expected a couple of the guys to well… ummm…

Ok off to purtify and go be a helpful bear.

Later Y’all

Morning! Also caffeinating. And laundering. Didn’t have any tops I wanted to wear today, so I figured I’d start the laundry I need to do.

Special One, **doggio ** is planning to leave his current job after his vacation, which starts in 40 days.

I can’t believe anyone would charge by the minute for broadband, BooFae. Do they at least have any other pricing options?

Wow, that library experience is depressing, Heff. Don’t you wonder about parents like that one? There should be parenting licenses!

Off to get ready for the day!

Happy Saturday, all!

GT

Starting to get ready to go visit brother, niece and nephew and watch nephew play baseball. Should be fun. Back in a few…hours.

GT

Good morning MMP! I get to go in a little late today, so I can get all my chores out of the way. Everybody’s been walked. I gotta go get cat food in a bit, before Lucretia decides to play “Donner Party” with Maggie Wonderbeagle.

Meeks, maybe the comment person was expecting gansta rap?

swampy, so you’ll work for food? I’ll give you two Eggos if you do my laundry.

BooFae, I don’t think any provider in the U.S. of A. has charged per minute in ten or fifteen years. :dubious:

Special One, I’m an only child, but I play “I’m not touching you” with the cat.

Morning!

Up, caffeinated, fed and about to get dressed to go to another funeral.

But the day gets better from there - a couple errands, a quick trip to the fest, then home for dinner and to wait for friends to come by and we walk out there again.

Morning, everyone. Haze, I hope you enjoy your sandy sunny book-filled day.

I’m up, I’ve throw up once, and I think I’m not going to again. In a few minutes I think I’ll make some tea and experiment with toast. I’m trying to get QD to come in and clean my kitchen- I can’t stand being in it for very long, so it’s not clean.

I meant “friendly” in exactly the way you interpreted it  Tel-Aviv is a very “liberal” (for want of a better word) city.

GT – thanks for the info. Dogbutler – have a great vacation and good luck in your new job!

… Um … I got nuttin’*

ETA: Li-li – hoping you’re right about throwing up only once today.

Everyone else – Boos and Yays as appropriate!

  • Well, nothing **clean **anyway. I blame all that sand…

Morning, all. I’m up and caffeinating. Papa Tigs is stripping the meat off a giant turkey boob from the Amish market; it is definitely teh yum! Home-grown, of course, so no hormones, no water added, etc. Yum and virtuous, what’s to argue with? He’s also had two devoted dogs lying on the floor drooling behind him; I warned him to be careful not to slip in the puddles!

And, thanks to his market trip this morning, I’m eating a truly heavenly breakfast – a “pretzel log,” which consists of various fillings wrapped in homemade pretzel dough and cooked up like a giant soft pretzel. This one is a breakfast log, which has eggs and cheese and bacon (all home-grown or homemade, natch), and my other favorite is a cheese log, which is nothing but about 1/2 pound of heavenly mozzarella in the beyond-delicious pretzel dough. Yum yum yum!

Like down FCM’s way, it’s still nice enough here to have all the windows open and enjoy the lovely morning. Alas, it’s supposed to get hot and yucky later. I do like being able to open up the house occasionally even during the summer months, though; after Louisiana, where you shut the house up at the end of April and don’t open it again till, oh, October or so, this is a welcome change.

I guess I need to get back to real work today, since I blew off the last couple of days. Not that I didn’t get some good knitting done, but that doesn’t pay the bills, obviously.

Back from the dump and walmart and Lowe’s and breakfast. 4 doors are staged in the garage awaiting paint. I need to change into grubbies and commence painting. **FCD ** is getting stuff together to go to the marina. Today is electrical bonding and overhead prepping. The V-berth had old vinyl on the overhead that was falling down, so we’re replacing it with 1/4" plywood painted white. He’s putting the backing strips up and running the wires for the lights and the fan.

Miss Brandy is on The List. She’s recently taken to using the sawdust in the basement instead of her litter box. **FCD ** thinks the idiot little dog trapped her in the litter box (it’s a covered style) and she’s afraid to use it any more. So now the litter (uncovered) is sitting under one of the workbenches in the basement near where she was messing. All of the sawdust had been cleaned up. With luck, this will solve the cat crap issue.

Such is my exciting life… Off to paint now. Back when the first coat is drying.

Mmm, turkey boobs.

G’mornin’ all!

Second load of laundry in the dryer, third load in the washer. Breakfast has been eaten, and the dishes are done. I’ll get motivated in a minute and vacuum the house, prior to us pretreating and shampooing the messy carpets.

Mr Rebo has been in and out all morning. He went to pick up a tuner (circa 1975!) that he is going to turn into a way for my Dad to have headphones hooked up to the TV. I can’t believe there aren’t headphone jacks in TVs! At least not the big kind. Weird, huh? I am not geekily inclined, so I have no idea what all this is about, but when done it ought to help Dad out so he can hear the TV better, instead of reading the closed captioning all the time. Live TV CC is very bad.

We’re taking Dad out to dinner at Red Lobster tonight, his choice for Father’s Day. I also got him a new leather “DOP” kit - a travel case for personal items - and a Texas Longhorns shot glass and coffee mug. I think we’ll grill up some steaks tomorrow night, unless he wants something else.

I have to go to the laundromat later to wash my comforter. (Thanks Ernie! :() Other than that, not a lot going on - meal planning and grocery list making - typical Saturday stuff…

First round of door painting is done. I’ve got 4 sets of sawhorses set up in the garage. 2 are holding doors that just needed a final coat on one side - they’re done. The other 2 have doors getting their first coat on one side, and there are 2 more doors standing by. Once the completed doors are dry, they’ll come off and the last 2 will be begun. If all goes well, tomorrow, all 6 will be painted. Then FCD can finish cutting out the holes for the passage sets and the places for the hinges. Then we can hang them and have bedroom and bathroom doors again. Plus a linen closet door. Yay.

Just finished eating some leftover rib meat on a hot dog bun. It was, um, interesting. Not too satisfying, but what the heck. The weather is still relatively cool, but it’s bright sunny out there, and I might have to close up before the day is done. The forecast is for low 80s so I might be OK.

I should do something constructive while the doors are drying. I should. Should I?

Afternoon Y’all! I just got up from a nap a little bit ago. I decided I deserved one after all that hard work I did. After a nummy breakfast, another church member and I set to work cleanin’ up the kitchen. We cleaned the serving tables, stove, grill, counter tops, tables, fridge and all that good stuff. It’s all stainless steel bein’ as the entire kitchen is commercial so it looked real shiny and spiffy when we got done. Then we washed all the windows on the outside whilst others washed from the inside. We found a formula for cleaning outside windows that consists of amonia, distilled vinegar and a little bit of dishwashin’ detergent mixed in cold water. I was amazed how well it cleaned those windows. The windows have a tint on 'em to reduce glare and this was a formula for that type window.

Anywho, I left the church about eleven thirty this mornin’, came home and showered then decided I had earned a nap.

Rebo we’re goin’ to Dead Lobster too! Ol’ y’all know who has been seein’ the ads for a shrimp and lobster tail special and is jonesin’ for it, so I’m gettin’ treated. Neither one of us are father’s but later on, we may play a round or two of “who’s yer daddy.”
