FairyChatMom, you should absolutely not do something contructive while the doors are drying. Instead you should do something decadent and self-indulgent.
Tonight, we’re going out to Lou Malnoti’s for pizza. It’s my last hurrah before surgery, since my clear-liquids restriction starts tomorrow.
By the way, does anyone have any suggestions about what kind of thank you is appropriate for the sister who agreed to help with my surgery prep?
Kat if you can afford such and your sis is into it, how bout a day of pampering at a day spa? Heck if you can afford it for two, how bout the two of you doin’ that together, your treat after you’re all recovered?
Too late. I mowed the lawn. Front and back and side and ditch and hill. I’m all dusty and hot and sweaty and I’ve got somthing in my left eye - some flying lawn crud, no doubt. Next time, speak up earlier!
I am glad to have the mowing done, tho. It’s only around 80 right now, but tomorrow it’s gonna hang in the low 90s and get all humid. I really shoulda mowed yesterday since it was really cool, but no matter. It’s done. My sweetie should be pleasantly surprised since he hates hates hates mowing. So he got an early Father’s Day surprise.
Two of the doors need one more coat, which will give all 4 of them 2 coats on one side. Tomorrow I can flip them over and put 2 coats on the other side, and they’ll be done. Yay. Except for needing the hinges and passage sets installed. In case I didn’t mention it in one of my many remodeling posts, we’re replacing all the old, brown luaun doors with white 6-panel doors. Except for the skinny linen closet door - it’s only 3 panels, since it’s 16" wide. In any event, they’ll look lots nicer than the crappy old ones. Pics will follow. I’m going to do an entire Before-and-After album. You’re welcome.
Critters have all been fed. I came in from mowing, and the 3 of them were pacing, giving me the collective Evil Eye - it was 4:05 and feeding time is 4:00, dammit! Hey, deal with it, animals, or learn to use the can opener! Dunno what our supper will be. Right now, I can’t even think about food. But we’ve got leftover pizza, chickie, and ribs. I’m guessing it’ll be a grazing night. Or ice cream.
I’ve been to see Nephew play baseball, then dozed through the Spongebob movie, then came home. Baseball was fun, although his team lost. It’s funny to see how much better they’ve gotten in the past year. One kid did the splits while playing 3rd base, so they’re not completely there, but still, lots more concentration. Nephew got a couple of hits and also pitched pretty well.
I should be as busy as FCM because I’m pretty much going to work all day tomorrow, but I’m sleepy (I think because I sat outside in the heat the whole game), so maybe I’ll limit my productivity.
I am a bit drowsy. We just came back from the museum of natural history up in the Adirondacks. Pictures in a few moments.
The museum itself was in Tupper Lake, which is practically at the Canadian border. I was originally going to make this Monday’s MMP, but I’ve decided I’d rather do something else. (BTW, can’t remember if I thanked you or not, Mama Tigs, so thank you!)
So here is a map of where we went: Tupper Lake
And the museum: The Wild Center
Just opened in 2006.
And pictures: Pictures
Take a look to see some of the stunning beauty that is upstate NY. There’s a few of me in there, and I even left a few of my guy in there if anyone is curious.
My feet tanned up there, to the shape of my sandals. I mean really dark. I’m weird like that - ten minutes in the sun and I’ll tan, and we were out there for quite a time.
I’m glad people liked my Indian video. Maybe I’ll link to vids like that more often, lively and happening, with subtitles.
.
No kidding. That’s the main reason I like it, plus the guy in the jeans & plaid shirt - I think his name is Vivek Oberoi - I love him.
Hugs for everyone but especially doggie. Why? Dunno, just want to.
Ha, Tel Aviv! Friendly eh? Well if what just happened to me is any clue to it’s ‘liberal-ness’, I might be on the next flight.
Wife and I had just finished dinner, when the doorbell rang. I answered it and there was a young lady, very attractive - probably 18-20 or so. She’s dressed nicely, normal slacks and a top over something with little bitty straps showing. She says, “Hello, I am (insert name here, I missed it I was staring at her eyes, yes her eyes), and I am in this country as an art student and I was wondering if I could show you some oils I have done?”
By this time, Wife is standing behind me, answering for me, telling young, Coulda Been Future Wife that no thank you, we don’t need to see anything, we’re not interested.
I shrug, trade secret Coulda Been smiles with the lass, and as I close the door and she leans and turns to pick up her portfolio I observe her complete lack of any undergarments - top or bottom. It was kind of a ‘lean and twist’ move, enabling me to be absolutely positive.
swampy, we head to Tel Aviv, I’ll be the dirty old man, and you can have the dirtier old men, ok?
Namak Isqh Ka
Also, I forgot to mention that since Billo is brown-eyed girl, obviously I have been called Billo before. but it also means “brown eyed kittycat”.
Mmm, supper was sooo good tonight – sliced turkey boob, with microwave-baked little **N.O.T.**s (fresh from the Amish market, of course) and fresh aspergrass. Yummy yummy!
But dessert is going to be even better. FCM, if you haven’t had this, you might want to check – Turkey Hill limited edition “Fried Ice Cream,” which is cinnamon ice cream swirled with pieces of cinnamon sopapillas and sweet tostadas. I am restraining myself long enough to make sure I’ve thoroughly digested dinner so I have more room for more ice cream!
Your guy is cute, Meeks! And it looks really, really pretty there. And yes, I definitely vote for more links to hot Indian videos.
I guess I should do something constructive; I’ve spent the afternoon with my feet up, knitting. It’s been just lovely. I got far enough in the shawl (four complete pattern repeats) that I felt like switching for a while, so for a change I decided to try cables again. So I’m tackling the Persephone scarf, designed by a very creative knitter indeed. I’m also trying a technique I’ve never used when doing cables, even though I’ve knitted a million of them, and that’s not using a cable needle. It works pretty well after the first few cables; the first few cable rows always pretty tight, I think because you’re coming in from a different stitch pattern so it doesn’t have the “give” that cables usually have. But I’ve managed to do most of a pattern repeat with no cable needle and no dropping stitches, so it’s all good. Always something new and different, right?
He noticed all on his own. In fact, when he was coming in, he said he’d intended to mow tomorrow. So he was most pleasantly surprised. I may get a backrub out of this.
Whatever is in my eye is driving me crazy. I tried to flush it our in the shower. No luck. I tried to have **FCD ** flush it out with some eyewash. No luck. It feels like it’s stuck under the lid, but it moves. It’s driving me crazy. I don’t know what to do. AAAARRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!
**Mika ** - gorgeous pics!! It’s a beautiful place.
I’m tired. I’m thinking an early bedtime today. <yawn>
**FCM, **a piece of advice. If you can, turn your eyelid inside out. it doesn’t feel comfortable or good, but if something is semi-caught under there you may see it, or it may be whatever it is has gotten out but it scratched your eyelid.
Back from Dead Lobster and an after dinner walk with the pups. I am soooo full. I, for the first time ever, had a whole Maine lobster stuffed with crabmeat. Oh my freakin’ Og! I was in heaven.
I think Dad enjoyed his lobster and shrimp dealie, and Mr Rebo had his usual crab legs and whatever…
We didn’t vacuum or pretreat the carpets.
Oh, and super bad news. Sonny boy is out of a job. Some customer got pissed for not being checked on fast enough, and hurled obscenities at my son, AND the manager, and I guess the co-owner found out, and had Pete fired. Bummer. Y’all may recall the apartment he shares is in my name… Cross your assorted appendages he finds something very quickly… 'cuz he’s 23 and doesn’t have a clue how to save any money…
Just a quick drive by as I take a quick bathroom break…it’s 70 degrees F. out!!! All of my windows and doors are open, and I am out playing in the dirt. More later.
Just had a two hour conversation with QD about whether or not she should marry Driving Husband.
Lord, girl, it’s been six and a half months. Make up your damn mind, and don’t not marry him because you think your mother thinks you maybe could do better.
Frankly, if I were the guy, I’d say the hell with QD and move on. Poor guy. No real sympathy for her (sorry), but feel she’s leading him around for bupkus.
I just finished a Harry Potter marathon for no good reason other than it was hotter 'en blazes and I still don’t feel well enough to actually do stuff. I did do some laundry.
Happy weekend, all.
Ah hah! I finally figured out why from row 11 on, that scarf pattern made no sense. It’s because it’s not a 16-row pattern, it’s a 12-row pattern! Kinda makes a difference. Anyway, I’ve got it all figured out. And if I can find an email address for the blogger, I’ll send her a note. Because it’s a great pattern, but the cables just started going awry at that one point. (More awry than they’re supposed to, that is.) I do love complicated cable patterns.
I agree with Rigs, LiLi. QD is going to lose him altogether if she keeps dithering. Her mother isn’t contemplating marrying the guy, she is, and so her mother’s opinion really doesn’t matter, now, does it?
Interesting day, with very little beading involvement. I went to SIL’s for the trial run with the canopy, witch was a clusterfuck. It is a nice set-up. If it would set-up. It would not cooperate with the two of us so we are going to try again Monday with help.
Then I went to my librarian friend’s house to help picking plums. Boy, did we pick some plums. I got half the haul - about 10lbs - and a recipe for duck sauce. And a wonderful dinner that was mostly home grown. She didn’t grow the tuna for the tuna salad.
I took over a couple of necklaces I had made with the beads I was so proud of. She bought one of them. I was stunned. I expected her to make the proud noises a parent makes about a preschoolers crayon work - but this stunned me!
Haze, you’re right. And since I don’t have kids, I generally don’t make comments on other people’s parenting skills, but this must have hit a nerve for me. Because I was about 10 seconds short of asking the mom in an incredulous tone of voice, “you’re blaming your 6 year-old for what goes on in your house?” But I saw the librarian roll her eyes and decided that my comments wouldn’t serve any useful purpose.
gt, since the mom had just exasperated the two nicest librarians I’ve met so far, I think she just needed a people license that day.
Lili, I’ve been reading about your throwing up adventures. And I’m not sure what to say. I hope it stops soon doesn’t sound right because it has to do with the baby. And ditto with sorry you’re going through it since you’re going through pregnancy. So. . .whatever one says to throwing up pregnant women is what I’m trying to say here.
Mork, I somehow missed page one until yesterday. I hope your wife is doing OK.
swampy, I’m following your job interview stories. They’re really interesting. Good luck in getting a job that gets you excited to wake up in the morning.
Jahdra, so what happened to the good lucking guy at the office?
kai, nice to see you again. 70 degrees sounds heavenly. It was 102 yesterday. I like the heat but that’s a bit much even for me.
