An Assortment of Danish for the MMP

Wheeeeee!

I called the folk who handle “large trash removal” for the village where I live in April. They’ve called me for next Friday. I wasn’t planning on going home this weekend, as Mom won’t be in and the electricians are still in my house, plus to be there Friday I’d have to ask for a day off at work… and this is my last week, I think I forgot to tell you: got a new job, starting on Monday. My agent’s lawyer was dumb enough to write a five-calendar-day warning period in my contract, and I always read contracts, so by warning them last Friday and staying until next I’m even above requirements. Anyway. I called the electrician to ask whether he’s OK with letting the trash guys in and he said sure and asked whether I’m OK with him calling his brother-in-law to see whether BiL wants some of the stuff, I said sure. The recycling folk begin by checking what’s usable, letting his BiL have first pick simply eliminates one step.

Anyway. New job on Monday, next weekend in Madriz (capital of De Espáin). Methinks I’ll look for theater tickets, there’s several shows which look interesting and they often have mid-afternoon times on Saturdays

rosie’s sig to all, as I’m borrowing the only network cable in the room while my meeting-mates are out to lunch. Now to read…

One might even say… invaded!

You realize, of course, this means war!

Alright! Hold it right there! Why aren’t there parsnips? Where do the parsnips fit in to all this?

Morning all.

I have successfully managed to take care of myself all morning without mr ems assitance as he is at work. I put away laundry that he had left in various piles around the house as they were driving me nuts. I made brekkie and took a nap as I was feeling kinda light headed and woozy. Possibly did a little to much.

Anyway…I now want a donut. Anyone want to drive this way and bring one by as I still can’t drive for a couple weeks? :D:D

Next to the sage, rosemary, and thyme.

Morning all, I am up and it is raining. Groceries need to be gotten later and I am keeping an eye out for a package from Mom. Could someone please explain the whole swede rutabega thing to me? I cornfused. :stuck_out_tongue:
Anyway, Good Job Moooooooooom!

‘Swede’ is a mostly British Isles term for rutabaga. ScareyFaerie, AKA BooFae, made a remark a few months ago about cooking some swedes, and the Amurrkin Mumper contingent did a collective WTF.

Added insider knowledge is the real life last name of another MMPer is Swede, making the whole donut-danish-rutabaga thing prime material for a lot of nerdish jokes.

ETA: I’m surprised things have gotten this far and nobody else has brought up squid, goats, or chocolate.

Or, for that matter, chocolate-coated squid in goat’s cheese.

Yum. :dubious:

**Nava **-- 5 days notice? How nice of them! I’ve wished for that a(vaila)bility in the past…

**Janis **-- I think the idea is you put out a Swede in some real sun (Texas, Israel, take your pick…) and after a few hours they medium rare and yummerific. And I guess at that point you stick a rutabaga in their mouth and serve them…

Thanks muchly for explaining Bobbio. Ignorace fought. mentally adds this to the FAQ

Lunch. ewwwwwwwww. LOL

I live to serve. What I serve is a different question.

But actually, Swedes are better for dinner. By the time their done, it’s red meat

And if I were so inclined I’d engage in humor about “eating” a Swede. But I’m not so I won’t :stuck_out_tongue: :halo:

Well, that certainly lowered the tone of discourse, didn’t it?

:stuck_out_tongue:

[Homer Simpson]

mmmm, donuts!

[/Homer Simpson]

You’re saying that like it’s a bad thing…

It’s pouring rain. Tomorrow I meet with the hatchet man at work to discuss Og only knows what, but I hope it’s not the “your job hours are being cut in half” talk that I’ve been fearing for 5 weeks. I hope the hatchet man gets buried until a pile o’ rutabagers.

Did anyone read “Rutabaga Stories” by Carl Sandburg? My mother tried to make me read that when I was kid but I refused.

P.S. My grandparents were born in Sweden. No dissin’ the Swedes!

Morn… {checks watch}…ning all. I successfully got myself out of bed before noon and I don’t feel like complete crap. Only partial crap.

I have come to the conclusion that it’s a cold, not allergies. Used the neti pot last night. I feel ok at the moment but I’m distressed by the tea situation in my house. I have Bigelow chai, which I dislike; Bigelow French Vanilla chai, which I detest; Lipton Green Tea, which is so-so. I have none of the chai that I actually like and no plain black tea. How does this happen? Oh yeah, I tell people I like tea so they buy me tea, just not the right ones.
I have GOT to finish this Nutrition chapter today and I’m trying so hard but it’s wicked repetitive. I’ve taken Biology and Anatomy and this chapter is all about cells and digestion. I know how cells and digestion work but they keep throwing in little Nutrition tidbits so I have to read the whole darn thing to make sure I don’t miss anything.
FYI - Ortega chipotle taco mix is totally gross.

I don’t got no danish or donuts or rutabegas. I do have Nutri-Grain cereal bars though so I guess that’ll have to do.

Awww, Wish I could bring you some of my special cold remedy tea. ((Congodwarf))
Feel better!

Thanks! Special cold remedy tea sounds good. My special cold remedy tea is black tea with powdered ginger. We call it “dirt tea”. Tastes like dirt but it does wonders for upset stomachs and chest congestion. My stomach is fine and so is my chest, not that it matters since I am black tealess.

Mine also has cinnimon for nasal congestion and honey for coughs ( And Palatability  !!)

I got a phone call from out of the blue. A while back a reporter contacted several us that are board members for my charity, A Simple Thread. The article was published very recently.

A woman who read the article called me and wants to donate a bunch of wrapped McDonald’s toys to us! How cool! She is an antiques dealer, and has been collecting the toys for quite a while.

That made my day.

I think this thread has gotten waaaaaaay outta hand.

Not a bad thing, mind you…
