An Assortment of Danish for the MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 72 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 92 along with hot and hyooooooomid. Also a forty percent chance of rain. Right. Of course, I have to go up to da Burg and then down to large and in charge Pelham, Jawja today so that in itself could bring on Ark like deluges.

picu yikes! Prayers and good thoughts headed out to the survivors.

Doc may the klutz fairy leave you alone for a while.

donkeybear!!! Good to see my favorite stalker! MWAH!

Y’all have a safe trip BBBobbio.

Death to all skeeters I say shortdrum!

Now I must seek out more caffiene plus rumbly tummy wants brekkie NOW!!!. Serious rumblin’s goin’ on down there. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Inorg is the one that makes shit black, silly.

Working another double shift. On the bright side, I might see my “just friend” 3 times this week.

Drive safe, BBBobbio!

Doc, oww! Of course I once sprained a finger opening a door.:smack: We must share the same klutz fairy.

Yay for toys, Rebo!

Point of order, Mr VBob, it’s actually an English thing rather than a British Isles thing. Countless arguments have been had with 'im indoors (he’s Scottish) about the swede/turnip conundrum. I know a swede is orange and a turnip is white. He sees fit to dispute this fact. Bloody Scots.

I read the Rootabaga stories and thanks for the reminder! I have a small stash of Kid Books for visitors and I should add that one

My dad’s dad was a Swede himself, but it was easy to lose track of that growing up because he married an Italian and that culture kinda steamrollers many others.

me? awake too early, haz a math class today. Yesterday’s Zappa show was kinda odd; I had to pitch an unwelcome guest out of the station. Good music, though…

My sister (who like me is of 100% Polish blood) married a guy who’s half Italian, half Norwegian. I think in his case, the Italian blood was week, because he’s a very quiet, low-key kinda guy. Either that or my sis just wore all the spark out of him…

Just a quick post before I head off to class. It’s raining again, dammit. Now they’re saying we won’t get real sun till maybe Firday. Enough already!

I’m leaving early - I have a hankerin’ for a BK breakfast. Altho the WaWa has a really good croissant sammich - Maybe I’ll stop there instead. In any case, I need to get going so I can grab breakfast, then get to class. I’ve got an urn to put handles on.

Happy Tuesday, all!

I’m in the waiting room at the cardiologist, about to get my nuclear stress test. Huzzah. But then I have the rest of the day off! Huzzah!!!

Rosies Sig to all.

grumble Where’s Quit O’Clock when you need it… grumble

That’s scary about the house that blew up! That happened around here a couple years ago. Fortunately, the family was out of town, but they lost everything. Just really scary.

I’m really happy with my first new hire (now not-so-new since he’s been here since June). He’s helping train my newer new hire. It’s so nice that I’m not overwhelmed with work AND having to try to find time to train the newer new hire. Plus, he seems to actually like training, whereas I find it utterly draining to have to sit with someone all day. So it’s working out really well. And I feel smug having made such a good choice on my first hiring decision.

(I have told my director and VP so they’re aware that he’s doing a really good job. I’m not just telling strangers on the internet but not the people who will make salary and raise decisions.)

Good on ya, taxi, for telling the mucky-mucks about a good worker. My spousal unit hired a young guy a few months back, and he’s worked out so well, he’s a team lead over people with more education and experience, and he got a super-good raise because his boss (my sweetie) told the big bosses that he deserved it. It’s nice as an employee to be recognized, and it’s nice when those in power make that recognition count.

Back from class. I made the bottom half of a monster - I’ll do the head on Thurs. I’m thinking of making it a giant bobble head when it’s all fired and glazed. I was going to put handles on my big vase/urn, but the handles dried out too much, so I just decorated the vase and set it aside to dry.

**FCD **is home - not feeling well. Poor baby.

I think I’ll play in my studio for a while this afternoon. That’s all I’ve got for now. Still rainy and uck here. meh.

Yay taxi! We all knew you would be good at this manager malarky

PT hurt like mofo again last night with new exercises but I am doing good - my knee is straight so Melissa the super-PT is pleased.

I took another long nap this morning and then tonight the highlight of my day is taking a shower. mr ems funnily enough has no objections to that part of his nurse maid duties ‘supervising’ his nekkid soapy wife taking a shower so she doesn’t lose her balance on her gimpy leg

Absolutely could not sleep last night, which isn’t surprising since I took a total of 4 hours worth of naps in the afternoon. I made a valiant effort but not even a whole sleeping pill made it happen. So, I got up at 3am and did some homework until 4:30. Now I just have 1 more very short essay to write and I’ll be done with all the homework I put off last week because I was feeling blah - and more than 6 hours before the deadline too!

Spanish class tonight…ugh. I’m not expecting to shine today, what with missing last week’s class. I like the professor and I like the classmates but I am so stressed about not knowing an answer that I get all worked up before and during class. I think I have performance anxiety.

Payed the bills last night and found out that I accidentally overpaid some bills last time so they aren’t due til next time, which is a nice change.

Blurf.

More news on the blown-up house. It turns out it happened because a tree limb fell on a power line, the powerline hit the wet ground and electrified the gas pipe. That caused a form of electrolysis that made multiple holes in the gas pipe. It happened to a water line in the same neighborhood.

They are inspecting all the gas and water lines within a 5 mile radius of the power line failure. That includes our house.

The good news is they are about half finished with the inspections and have found only one other leak. That was within a block of the first. We are a bit over 4 miles away, so I think we’ll be fine.

If I never post again, I was wrong.

Dang, picu, that’s scary! There are no gas lines out here in the boonies, and I don’t know if any neighbors immediately around us have propane tanks, so I think we’re safe from booms of that sort. Of course, one should never underestimate the potential for stoopits…

I started my first Tvtropes page, for the Badger! Now somebody tell my body to stop getting anxious about stupid things, like starting a tvtropes page…

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. Things at irk are getting crazy again.

Blurf.

Bri2k

Howdy Y’all! Home from irk. Bzzy day. Good one though. I even et N.O.L. at the Pelham Center. Not to shabby. Roast beast, mixed veggies, smashed N.O.T. ‘n gravy, an orange and a roll. I have been somewhat surprised at the good quality of the meals. Guess I was expectin’ high school cafeteria meals or sump’n.

Continunin’ on the food theme of this post, dindin shall be poke roast (slow cooked all day) succotash, baked sweet N.O.T. and cornbread muffins. NUM!!! This is one of those makes two meals meals too.

Don’t stress ShinyCat!

Don’t blow up picu. I forbid it.

Yay for non-due bills ShortDrum.

Yay for bein’ a good manager taxi!

Everyone else, yay, boo, hugs, kisses, noogies, wedgies, trouts, pointy sticks, how you doin’s as needed.

We’re doing leftover stew for supper. When you’re sick, like poor FCD, soup/stew is the ultimate medicinal comfort food. And since it was in the freezer, it made preparation easy for me. Right now, it’s defrosting in the microwave.

And, surprise surprise, it’s raining again. Dammit.

There’s a stinkbug crawling around in the light fixture. Big minus for the halogen light bulbs–they don’t crisp a bug quickly like the incandescents do.
