An Easter Candy Poll

Psst! Give 'em to me! My husband thinks I’m a black jellybean disposal. And I am! :stuck_out_tongue:

I adore chocolate covered marshmallow eggs, but only the Russell Stover brand.

In my youth I tasted a Peep, once, and immediately decided that they’re ornamental candy and not actually intended for consumption.

Kids, no. I buy Easter (and Valentine’s Day, and Hallowe’en, and Christmas) candy for myself and friends; occasionally my friends actually receive some.

I do buy chocolate bunnies, again Russell Stover only. The cheap ones taste waxy and leave an icky coating in my mouth. I start with the ears, but never really thought about why.

Favorite- Candy-coated malted-milk eggs (I think brand-named “Robin Eggs”- do not confuse them with chocolate-coated m-m eggs, which are inferior to the candy-coated ones) with the large Reese’s Eggs a close second. Then the spice jelly “eggs”.

Least fave- I was going to say Peeps until congodwarf mentioned marshmallow eggs.

No kids.

I buy a little before Easter, but a lot the Monday after.

1. What’s your favorite Easter candy?
I love Reeces’ Peanutbutter eggs.
**
2. What Easter candy do you hate?
**Dunno, I don’t have that much knowledge of today’s candies.
**3. a. Do you have kids?
b. If not, do you buy candy for yourself?
No kids, I might sometimes buy a lone peanutbutter egg on the way out of a convenience store. (not this year, I’m on a strict diet.)
4
. a. Do you get a Chocolate Bunny?
b. Where do you start eating it? Ears, tail, or other?
**No bunny.

  1. What’s your favorite Easter candy?
Reeces’ Peanutbutter eggs. Malted milk ball eggs are a close second.

  2. What Easter candy do you hate?
Not sure, but I know it’s not Peeps. I can do a couple.

  3. a. Do you have kids? Yes, but grown.
    b. If not, do you buy candy for yourself?
    No .

  4. a. Do you get a Chocolate Bunny? No.
    b. Where do you start eating it? Ears, tail, or other? Ears, if there’s a bunny that I can steal from some kid.

  1. What’s your favorite Easter candy? **Peeps **

  2. What Easter candy do you hate? Peanut Butter anything

  3. a. Do you have kids? Nope
    b. If not, do you buy candy for yourself? Yep

  4. a. Do you get a Chocolate Bunny? No–I get Peeps
    b. Where do you start eating it? Ears, tail, or other? N/A

  1. What’s your favorite Easter candy?
    Cadbury eggs

  2. What Easter candy do you hate?
Easter candy and hate in the same sentence? Cannot compute.

  3. a. Do you have kids? No
    b. If not, do you buy candy for yourself? No, I wait around to see if my mommy will buy me some (she’s cool like that even though I’m almost 30 and haven’t lived at home for years) or if I can talk my nieces and nephews out of some.

  4. a. Do you get a Chocolate Bunny? No, haven’t had one in years.
    b. Where do you start eating it? Ears, tail, or other? Ears.

Just give me any Russell Stover Easter anything! Especially the green cocoanut nests with jellybird eggs!

As for Peeps? Cute as hell but only edible after curing for a year and then only one for nostalgia.

  1. What’s your favorite Easter candy? Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs and the chocolate bunny.

  2. What Easter candy do you hate? It’s a toss up - Cadbury Eggs, Jelly Beans, and Peeps. (The only saving grace for peeps is that they are fun to play with. My sister and I have peep jousting and make little peep murder/suicide dioramas (yes, we are both over 30 :D))

  3. a. Do you have kids? No

    b. If not, do you buy candy for yourself? Yes. And, my Mom still buys me a chocolate bunny.

  4. a. Do you get a Chocolate Bunny? Yup. Mom buys me one every year.

    b. Where do you start eating it? Ears, tail, or other? I eat it from the bottom up. My bunny just keeps getting shorter. Gets a little spooky when it’s down to nothing but the head, but I find it less spooky than everyone else’s headless bunnies (besides, then I get to save all the ear goodness for last!)

1. What’s your favorite Easter candy?
Cadbury CARAMEL Eggs. The Creme Eggs are good in a pinch, but they make my teeth hurt a bit. The Caramel Eggs are the apex of candyhood.

2. What Easter candy do you hate?
Tie for malted milk balls/eggs and white chocolate. I want to like white chocolate, I really do, but I spend too much time making vaginal and anal herbal suppositories, which use cocoa butter as their base. My brain has made the unfortunate rule that white chocolate = something you put in the other end, not the mouth.

**3. a. Do you have kids? **
Yes. He’s more into the sour genre.

4. a. Do you get a Chocolate Bunny?
I don’t buy them for myself, but often my grandmother gives me one.
** b. Where do you start eating it? Ears, tail, or other?**
Usually his nose, then up the ears, then down to the tail.

  1. What’s your favorite Easter candy? PEEPS!!! (and once a year I pull up two links - this and this )

  2. What Easter candy do you hate? Cadbury cream eggs

  3. a. Do you have kids? no
    b. If not, do you buy candy for yourself? heck yeah

  4. a. Do you get a Chocolate Bunny? sometimes - depends on if my mom sends one or not
    b. Where do you start eating it? Ears, tail, or other? most definitely the ears. My favorite bunny to get is the 18" tall one where the body’s only 6" tall.

1. What’s your favorite Easter candy?
Cadbury Caramel Eggs and See’s little chocolate eggs. And Peeps. And these old speckled malted-milk-ball eggs that they don’t make anymore.

2. What Easter candy do you hate?
Jelly beans.

3. a. Do you have kids?
Nope.
b. If not, do you buy candy for yourself?
Not specifically for Easter. I’ll usually pick up one Cadbury Caramel Egg if I happen to be in the vicinity of one during the right time period, but I don’t go out with the express purpose of buying Easter candy.

4. a. Do you get a Chocolate Bunny?
No, though I was tempted last night.
b. Where do you start eating it? Ears, tail, or other?
If I had one, it would definitely be the ears. Then the head.

  1. I am extremely fond of all Easter candy – I will even eat a Peep in a pinch. My favorites, though, are chocolate-covered marshmallow bunnies and black jellybeans.

  2. That said, I really don’t like Cadbury Creme Eggs. Too chocolatey, and the slime inside is too sweet.

  3. I do have kids, but as of this year, they are both out of the house. And I didn’t send either of them an Easter basket. My daughter was home on her Spring break last week and she said she didn’t want me to send her candy, since she’s dieting. My son is deployed overseas and I do send him a goodie package every month, but it’s usually books and beef jerky, since he isn’t all that fond of candy anyway, and chocolate doesn’t travel all that well.

I did buy some Easter candy (jellybeans, a couple chocolate-marshmallow bunnies, some candy-covered malted-milk eggs and some mini-Reeses cups) and put it in a bowl on the table for my husband and myself, and for any guests who drop by.

  1. I was never one for the chocolate bunny – too much chocolate. I did used to buy them for the kid’s baskets.

1. What’s your favorite Easter candy?
An Italian confection that is a very thin hollow dark chocolate egg with a very thin candy coating. I haven’t seen them in years.

2. What Easter candy do you hate?
None of it, really. Even peeps.

**3. a. Do you have kids? **
No.

b. If not, do you buy candy for yourself?
No. I exchange baskets with a friend. She initiated this; I’m Jewish.

4. a. Do you get a Chocolate Bunny?
Yes.

b. Where do you start eating it? Ears, tail, or other?
Ears. Always ears.

  1. What’s your favorite Easter candy?
*I like those “hiding eggs”, they’re pastel colored, have a hard sugar shell and a marshmallow center. Nobody else seems to like them and they’ve been getting harder to find every year but I love them. They’re just pure sugar…

Edit: on review, I see I’m talking about the marshmallow eggs Congo linked. And dammit, they’ve been discontinued. I think Brach’s still makes them but they’ve been renamed “dinosaur eggs”.*

  1. What Easter candy do you hate? Anything with peanut butter. And I’ve never been super fond of Peeps, too marshmallowy.

  2. a. Do you have kids? nope
    b. If not, do you buy candy for yourself? yep

  3. a. Do you get a Chocolate Bunny? Not usually.
    b. Where do you start eating it? Ears, tail, or other? Ears

  1. What’s your favorite Easter candy? I seem to be the only non US person here so far - I’d say any milk chocolate would be my favourite but especially good is Lindt Swiss chocolate. Got me a Lindt bunny upstairs just calling to me!

  2. What Easter candy do you hate? Not Easter sweets as such, just I think that Hersheys chocolate is the most vile thing I’ve ever tasted - it tasts purely of vomit! However, I did have their dark chocolate truffles recently and they were actually quite nice. But Hersheys is a very large no no.

  3. a. Do you have kids? Not yet.

b. If not, do you buy candy for yourself? Yes, hubby and I are chocaholics - we get two large bars a week and share them between us on Saturday and Sunday nights snuggled up in bed.

  1. a. Do you get a Chocolate Bunny? Oh yes…

b. Where do you start eating it? Ears, tail, or other? Ears, what else?!

  1. What’s your favorite Easter candy? EVER: The coconut dark chocolate and peanut butter dark chocolate eggs my Nana made from scratch. AVAILABLE NOW: Malted speckled eggs. The big chocolate-covered coconut egg.

  2. What Easter candy do you hate? White chocolate anything. Jelly beans. Candy corn-ish anything.*

  3. a. Do you have kids? No.
    b. If not, do you buy candy for yourself? Sometimes, when it goes on sale after Easter.** No treats until Saturday night so by then might as well wait until it goes on sale.**

  4. a. Do you get a Chocolate Bunny? Nope, I don’t like plain chocolate as much. b. Where do you start eating it? Ears, tail, or other? ** When I had them as a kid, probably the ears.**
*When I was a kid, there was a Greek shop in town where they made these elaborate chocolate eggs with candy flowers on the front. Pop would get my mom a big white chocolate one, me a smaller white chocolate one and my brother a smaller brown chocolate one. I was afraid to say anything, but I can’t stand white chocolate. I would leave it till last and then have to sneak it in pieces to the garbage. :o I also remember one year when tiny ants swarmed over my mom’s egg.

My favorite is Milky Way Eggs. They’re really a half-egg, though. I don’t like regular Milky Ways, but the eggs are divine.

My least favorite is Starburst Jelly Beans. They taste like cough syrup.

*1. What’s your favorite Easter candy? *
Pastel colored candy corn

2. What Easter candy do you hate?
Most candy is too rich for me, so even though there’s none I can think of that I hate, there’s also few I can think of that I could eat more than one or two bites of.

3. a. Do you have kids? No

  • b. If not, do you buy candy for yourself?* No

4. a. Do you get a Chocolate Bunny? No

  • b. Where do you start eating it? Ears, tail, or other?* When I did, I’d always start with the ears.
  1. marshmallow /chocolate eggs. Then malted milk eggs.
  2. White chocolate is a form of tasteless plastic.
3.kid is 25 eats chocolate on Easter only like me
4, wife is a chocoholic and if you want to eat a bunny grab it and go. She will eat them all then eat the package they came in. With time I start at the tail and work around.
