An Illustrated History of the Super Bowl Halftime Show - Washington Post

I think this is great.

It’s a graphic representation of every halftime show since 1967. Some are very witty.

Looks like the 1993 Super Bowl with Michael Jackson was the moment when the halftime show became a Big Fucking Deal. Comparing the performers before and after MJ, it’s no contest.

I’ve watched every Super Bowl since 1969, and if you asked me who did the halftime show for any Super Bowl before the Nineties, I’d have no idea.

Except for Super Bowl 5 in 1971. That game was at the Orange Bowl in Miami, and the entire halftime show was Anita Bryant singing “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

P.S. It turned out that song has a lot of verses. And ANita sang the all.
