It. A few questions.
- What is it
- Wasn’t it supposed to be unveiled a year ago.
- If so why did I hear nothing after all that hype.
- Is it a vacuum cleaner
please respond i really am confused.

Are you referring to Ginger/IT? It’s still not out. No one knows what it is but the betting is that it’s some kind of very cool, efficient scooter. Others speculate it’s some kind of flying or hovering device.
This site has collected a lot of useful information on it.
http://www.ginger-chat.com
Yes, thats the It. I guess you answered my questions.
See also this week’s South Park.
Lol that south park was great. I really enjoy the toilet humor mixed with political satire hehe.
And yeah, when the hell is that thing going to be unveiled?
Sure you’re not thinking of ‘That’?
Actually, I hear the real breakthrough is the engine, which is supposed to be super-efficient. The “all-terrain scooter”(*) is just a sample application of the device.
(* = And it’s definitely worth trying to find footage of the all-terrain wheelchair that Dean Kamen invented previously (dubbed “Fred”, natch). Stands up, sits down, climbs stairs, and goes over sand, mud, and grass faster than most folks with full mobility. )
I saw that south Park it was a good one. Anywho I’m glad to see that there are others out here thinking the same thing.
Something else that would help change the world is a missile shot into the right cave in Afghanistan*.
Hm. According to the above-mentioned http://www.ginger-chat.com, Ginger’s going to be revealed in less than a week.
I read through the “facts” section on that page, and it’s strange; the quotes from people ‘in the know’ about Ginger seem split into two categories:
-It’s incredible, revolutionary, forget everything you know, this is totally new and will have a huge impact on EVERYTHING!
-It’s not THAT great. It’s been over-hyped. Lower your expectations or risk extreme disappointment.
And the predictions for what Ginger could be are also split into two similar categories:
-A personal levitating device
-A personal motorised scooter. Whee.
So take your pick. I know which one I’d prefer, but I fear it’s not to be…
Hopefully all will be clear in a week.
Is it just me, or does the vision of a MASSIVE LEAD BALLOON spring to mind?
Because honestly, nothing’s had this much hype since Harry Potter and the moon landings. OK both were great. Third time lucky? We’ll see.
Erroneous,
Wow. Thanks for the news about Ginger being revealed in less than a week; I hadn’t been to that site for some time. Let’s hope it’s cool, even if it’s only some kind of a scooter as I suspect.
Another good site for interested people is:
http://www.theitquestion.com/forum/default.asp
which has a pretty active forum which I read sometimes.
Maybe IT is an advertising/marketing approach that gets everyone asking about IT before IT is even known.
IMightBe"buying a seat on the next space shuttle…"
A scooter with a detachable motor.
Well, let me just be the first to say: Whoop-dee-freakin’-doo.
Just random speculation, but what would your response be if that scooter could fit in your backpack, travel 500 miles on a half-gallon of fuel, has a top speed of 40 mph, and can go on roads, sidewalks, grass, sand, and dirt with equal ease?
Sure would be something for commuters…
Providing you don’t have to carry anything larger than a backpack, sure.
Would you explain to me how that’s substantially different from a Moped? It’s more fuel efficient; other than that I don’t see why I can’t buy a device that will do all those things, and still be extremely fuel efficient, this afternoon. For that matter, I could get a similar device that uses no gasoline at all. It’s called a bicycle. A little slower, I’ll grant.
Sorry, but saving a few pennies in gasoline over equivalent vehicles that are already dirt cheap to run isn’t going to convince me it’s a world-changing device.
If the guy were to invent cold fusion I’d be interested; the fact that he’s taking years to reveal a super-invention he claims to have already perfected suggests “It” is just hype. It’s MARVELOUS hype, though.
FWIW- Good Morning America is supposedly going to reveal “IT/Ginger” on Mondays show.
IT calls ITself the “happiest sadist. . . .”

Yeah, I think it will turn out to be a big hoax like the moon landings.
:d&r:
Rick Jay,
Even if it is just a superior scooter it could make a huge difference in poorer countries where there is a huge pollution problem from the vast numbers of motorcycles/scooters. A cheap, non-polluting, fuel-efficient scooter would be a big deal in such countries.
Also rjung pointed out the real breakthrough might not be the scooter itself but the Stirling engine which is driving it. That engine might have all sorts of applications in different areas.
Although I admit that , given the gigantic amount of hype, I will be a teeny bit disappointed myself if it is just some cool scooter(as I suspect it is).
