An Ode to Being a Nerd, or: Nerds get Lucky too!(adults only)

I married a Trekkie.

Enough said.

I went out with one for six months once. He was also totally obsessed with the Sinclair Spectrum. Went out with a mathematician as well at one point.

More than enough said there methinks.

You give hope to us all…

Nothing wrong with that! My wife and I have five mathematics degrees between us. Yea, geek love!!

Congratulations (I think). There’s a lot of things you two can do to each other and you still remain (technically) a virgin.

I couldn’t help notice from the OP…Disney movies turn you two on, huh? Or is it pirates in general? Whatever it is, rent as many of them as you can.

I dunno about the pirates thing, thats more likely it as opposed to disney in general.

As for the other things we can do to each other, done, multiple times.

Yes, because it’s all about you, isn’t it?

Life once again imitates art:

I see you your mathemetician, and raise you a professor of History of Science. Soviet physics, specifically. My grad school buddies referred to him as the Sexy Soviet Scientist.

Lemme tell ya, you haven’t lived until you’ve been to a D&D tournament run by History of Science Ph.D. students hopped up on Mountain Dew.

While football players have their cheerleaders handy to boink, there doesn’t seem to be an equivalent for the sports of Computer Science, Star Trek, Dungeons and Dragons, etc.

It’s always nice to hear about geeks (of the opposite gender) finally finding each other. (Same gender too. Heck I’m open-minded.)

Imagine the trouble jocks would have getting sex if the only women around were the ones that liked playing Rugby or high school wrestling!!!

fnord, you are a God to me.

Hopefully after hand, as well.

Hawt!

Hope exists for the rest of us! Congrats!

My wife, at the time we met, was on the internet via an Amiga 1000. She was a geek already.

Had to do it

Ah I’ve found my geeky girlfriend, unfortunately she lives across the country. Can’t wait to visit her.
Go nerdluck!

I married a man who has to be the MOST anal retentive, detail oriented nutcase in the Universe! But when he brings that atttention to detail to bed… well let’s say I forgive him for nagging me about the definition of any word I have ever used incorrectly!

GO GEEKS!

LOL. I AM a Trekkie – the kind who scares “normal” people. “Worse” yet, I’m also a former microbiologist (ohhh nooo science geek!) and prior to that, a former electronic musician who happily geeked on programming old 1970s analog synthesizers well into the 1980s. My boyfriend is a mechanical designer (CAD Unix), electronics “Mr. Fixit” who has also been known to build his own computers (or computers for friends) and a serious Linux enthusiast besides. Neither of us do Windoze on our home computers: he does Linux and I do Macintosh.

We’re known to cuddle on the couch and watch Star Trek together, too (I have quite a collection on DVD and VHS). And some of our ideas of “talking dirty” to each other is to whisper chemical equations or formulae, and say we’re going to conduct “phase transition” or “haploid DNA extraction methods” experiments upon one another. I actually once greeted him at the door wearing a lab coat with a lacy black negligee beneath it. Ah, such is geek romance.

You 23-year-old geeky male virgins here might be interested in knowing that my boyfriend was a virgin until he was 27 (he’s not religious either), and while he’s now in his late 30s, I’m still only the second woman he’s been with. But anyway, yeah, we geeks can and do “get lucky,” eventually. Took me decades to find this prize. Our one-year “anniversary” is coming up soon, on Stardate 0312.28 to be precise.

Wow, so at 24 there is still hope for me . :dubious:

I heart nerds too. Then again, I am one myself. My boyfriend and I met while coding for a school website, in our Advanced Digital Design class in high school. He’s in college now, and started up a gaming club at his university. He loves Dune, loves anime, and is writing his own scifi series…

…yesterday when I saw him he was in his glasses, all scruffy, wearing a math club tshirt.

I love my geek
