An Ode to Being a Nerd, or: Nerds get Lucky too!(adults only)

Recently I have managed to aqquire a girlfriend.
Kind of a silly story, My best friend kept giving me a hard time saying that I wanted to do bad things(sexual) to her, andthat I was in love.
At the time it was not true.
Halloween she invited me to a party at her friends house and being that she is rather cute, and a nice girl, I went along.
The next morning we had to work(yeah, co-workers) and I came up with an idea to mess with my friend Jeff, We were going to avoid talking about the party to anyone, that way people would assume that we ended up doing something nasty.

It worked quite well, untill we ended up falling for eachother.
So we ended up hanging out a lot, and when we were watching Treasure Planet we ended up making out for the majority ofthe movie.
Before I proceed, a little back story. I am 23, never have had a girlfriend, never had been kissed before, and 100% a virgin.

So the next night we are hanging out again, this time watching Pirates of the Carribbian, and just after Jack gets captured the first time(20 or so min into the movie) we end up abandoning the movie in favor of making out. Good trade off I must say.
So we start kissing, and things get a bit carried away as she starts grinding on me. As this is starting to push my belt buckle into my groin, I take the iniative, and offer up my hand as an alternative. I will spare the details, but after making her scream 4 or 5 times, she looked up at me and asked how I could be so good having had no experience.

What an ego boost.

I look at her and say that being somewhat of a nerd, and a loner, I had lots of time to do research on the internet.

She let out a sigh and told me that she had 3 words to say: “Thank You Internet”

So, In a matter of weeks, I have nearly caught up on everything I have been missing out on, although I remain a virgin, by choice, and its ok with her.

I am the happiest guy I know right now.

I’m tearing up here.

Wow, I hope I don’t have to wait til I’m 23.

:frowning:

Wow, I hope I don’t have to wait til I’m 23.

:frowning:

why u fuckin bast…ah forget it, if you have had luck then somehow it gives me hope.

Just curious, why do you remain a virgin by choice?

Nice story, fnord.

I don’t know wether to laugh or cry. But congrats anyway!

Man, you have given me hope. Unfortunately, there are no cute chicks in this datacenter (are there anywhere?). Not that I have high standards, it’s just all the women hear are 50ish. I too am 23. And what’s up with the choice thing? Jokingly, around friends, I tell them that I’m saving myself for Jesus, but not really.

Congrats!

It’s all you, man.

Oh god dammit! She was a friend before hand. Therein lies the problem. I still have to try and acquire a friend of the female gender first.:frowning:

That’s not such a hot idea. You’re better off finding a girlfriend than making a girl, who’s your friend, a girlfriend.

I was friend with my SO first, too. He was timid and didn’t make the first move, we sort of moved at the same time. It’s been heaven ever since deep, happy sigh

Reasons for my choice are few.
Mainly due to religious upbringing, Its something I feel should wait till marraige, or at least till you know that the person is who you are going to marry.

Also, I am not ready to be a father. Before you say anything about the various forms of birth controll, shit can still happen.
better safe than sorry.

Lastly, although not so much a concern with Tarah, is any STD.
Scares the piss out of me.

In other news, her parents seemed to like me, and mine think she is nice too.

Tomorrow my family and her are going up to the mountains to play in the snow.

I most likely will keep updating this as things progress, but for now, I must work on my “Love Igloo” plans

You devil you.

Aawww… Young geek love. How sweet.

In spite of my own recent troubles, I must say that “anorak love” is an awe-inspiring and fantastic thing. (okay, Joycean foreplay is just flat-out odd, but you get used to it. Becketian foreplay is worse).

I can’t imagine finding myself with anyone other than another geek. We’re tolerant and always know, deep down, that we will never find anyone who understands us better.

I sing, yea, in praise of the gifted, the nebbish and the awkward!

Can I just offer the opinion, from a somewhat more experienced vantage point, that this is terrible, horrible, no good, very bad advice? What better foundation for a girlfriend than a friend? ( assuming a relationship is what is wanted, not just greasing the old trouser monkey. Although friends are great for that as well ) It’s true that you are risking the existing friendship- it’ll never be the same- but the game is worth the candle, oh yes indeedey. Also, you CAN go back to being simple friends with someone after dating them or just sleeping with them. It can be tricky, but if you’re both mature it’s usually not that hard.

Reminding you of your 34th birthday, Nate? :stuck_out_tongue:

Let me offer my appreciation of science nerds, computer geeks, and the socially inept dweebs. I heart nerds. Mr. Armadillo is quite the gel-weilding, yeast prion wrangling, LOTR-obsessed science nerd himself.
And we were friends for nearly two years before I ensnared him with my wiley feminine charms
