I think it’s fair to say that if someone* posts in a thread on this MB that “Christians are evil”, they’ll get a rebuke or two from other posters; maybe three. If someone posts “Muslims are evil”, they will be set upon as if by a pack of wolves. And if that someone gets Pitted, at least a dozen of that first someone’s idiot fans will talk about how brave he is for “telling it like it is” and how much they admire him.

I don’t think either is okay (and furious george, kiss my ass with your implication that I do). Instead, I think that the problem with both is with the content of the opinion, and it’s much better to attack that content than to try to score points by hunting hypocrisy around them. They’re both stupid opinions whether held by hypocrites or non-hypocrites, and that should be the focus.
