Posters that bring a debate from some other thread and derail the current thread to prove or disprove some point about some other poster.
That’s includes both sides of the argument.
So, yeah, there are about a half dozen assholes here right now.
See, this is why adaher is an asshole. He almost instantly pollutes almost any thread he deems worth his attention with either sidetracking bullshit or partisan idiocy.
Getting back to the point, is kstarnes still around? Man, if that guy don’t belong on this list, I don’t know who does.

To your earlier post, people do say that Christians are evil, along with Americans and Republicans in general. I haven’t seen you call those posters out, though. Even now you hedge, with the word “probably”.
See, the thing is, it’s not about the existence of an opinion. It’s about the content of an opinion. Check out this spectrum:
Hitler was evil!
The Gestapo was evil!
Nazis were evil!
Any German who didn’t actively resist the Nazis during WWII was evil!
Germans during WWII were evil!
Germans are evil!
White people are evil!
If you hold the first opinion, you’re not really an asshole. If you hold the last opinion, you’re kind of an asshole. Somewhere in the middle you start moving into asshole territory.
Kind of? What if a poster said Black people are evil, or Muslims are evil?
Please tell me you’re not going to turn this entire thread into a discussion of what I mean by “kind of.” Imagine me with eyes wide and nodding curtly while saying “kind of”; it’s a bit of snarky understatement.

No, I’m not going to turn the entire thread into anything. I am curious about the apparent double standard, though. Posters who say that Americans, Republicans, and Christians are evil often get cheers, not jeers, around here.
People who hedge, definitely assholes. People who think others might be assholes but don’t call them out for each instance of assholery, definitely assholes.

There’s no double standard between “black people are evil” and “Christians are evil.” One is birth, one is belief. There’s not even necessarily a double standard between “black people are evil” and “white people are evil.” One is punching down, one is punching up.
A belief can be idiotic in the absence of a double standard, of course. But hypocrisy hunting is a famously stupid occupation.
