SDMB was (as I recall) going to move over to a new server. Jerry backed up on Friday and started to work. Everything posted after the backup and until the new equipment went online was going to be lost, so TPTB declared a free weekend and we all got our ya-ya out as it were.
Fun times.
Also try to include some of the April 1st mod hi jinks.
Yes! That sort of thing would definitely need to be there. The more the merrier. Any clues as to the date(s) involved? Even without dates at this stage a list of those events and “special moments” would help focus searches and the like. The ones already mentioned in those linked threads can be put together in one post as a starter for such efforts. I’ll try to get one of those ready.
In case ntucker happens to be reading this thread, it would be great to have an update of that file he built last year for Another look at “active users” at SDMB and maybe for those of us with limitations on our Excel worksheet sizes (65,000 in my case) a couple broken down by “those who posted at least once” and “the others.” Or even broken down by “BANNED” and “not yet BANNED.” 
Here’s the latest group of names for “Mods” with details attached. Notice that some of these names need tweaking in order to square up with the current names list.
I do apologize for having omitted some obvious Mods in the earlier list of “current Mods” since I went by the Mod lists for each of the current fora – I thought. I’m rechecking to see how I missed some active Mods.

Melin was the name. Checking old posts in which she is quoted and mentioned by name, it appears that her name has become disassociated from her posts in the database (which can happen in very old threads), so her posts appear listed as “guest” with no username. Not sure why the name doesn’t appear in the list of usernames, but that can happen in the case of name changes or perhaps other glitches.

Is there a relatively easy way to access the date span for their being Mods?
Probably only the announcements in ATMB.
I don’t know an easy way to do it. I think you would have to search for the announcements in ATMB.
To start you off, my announcement thread was on June 20, 2007. Gfactor’s was the same day. As I recall, DrMatrix and xash were our immediate predecessors in GQ.
