About halfway through the list I was thinking, “Hey I might just get through this thing unscathed.” Then I hit Gigli. It was all downhill from there:
Gigli, Leonard Part 6, Battlefield Earth, Baby Geniuses, Master of Disguise.
Each deserve their place on this list but the only ones that made me want to slowly extract my eyeballs from their sockets with rusty fishhooks were Battlefield Earth and Master of Disguise.
**
Monster a-Go Go (1965)
‘Manos’ the Hands of Fate (1966)
The Skydivers (1963)
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964)
Mitchell (1975)
Robot Monster (1953)
Captain America (1991)
Tarzan, the Ape Man (1981)
**
Without MST3K: 13 more (Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is, believe it or not, on this list and not the MST3K list. What’s more, I own it via a gag Christmas gift!)
Only 17, so I guess I shouldn’t hang my head in shame too low.
Bolero
Gigli
The Smokers and
Hercules in New York.
Hercules in New York was on tv regularly when I was a kid and I am pretty sure I know it by it’s “Hercules Goes Bananas” title. So was Bolero. I think CityTV played shitty movies on purpose in the 80s just to be cute. Goes Bananas! There isn’t enough going bananas in my life these days.
I could have seen Teen Wolf Too and Police Acadamy 5 and/or 6 but I did NOT see Police Acadamy: Mission to Moscow.
I am too proud of myself. I think that I’ve seen none of those movies, although I may have seen at least part of Santa v Martians if it was on MST3K once. And there’s some doubt about the second Mortal Kombat movie. I know I’ve seen the first, and my geek gamer buddies made me take them to the temple in Ayuttaya where they filmed the exterior scenes so they could look to the heavens and shout: “It has begun!”
I’ve seen 20 of them. Without MST3K, it’s 15. But MST3K movies don’t count, right? And what about movies that were so bad I had to watch just to see how bad they were, like **Gigli **or Glitter? Do those count too?
I’m just making excuses for my compulsive bad movie watching, I know.
Hey, most, such as* Surf Nazis Must Die* were seen on late night cable as a kid, when I was actually looking for softcore porn. Sometimes I got both (* Bolero *) Which should I be more ashamed of?
The fact that I saw all of the * Police Academy* movies as a kid, on cable, is a large part of the reason why I have none of the pay movie channels. So at least I learned something from it, huh?
Most of the rest I saw when I managed a video store, so I saw them for free at least. I learned at that time that you may not be able to judge a book by its cover, but you sure can judge a video by its cover.
My votes for what does not belong on there are both Street Fighter, and Mortal Kombat. Considering the source material they are working from, they are almost high art.
Hmm, I’ve seen maybe 12 or 13 of those. On TV only, a few on MST3k. I have never paid money to see any of those.
So why isn’t Alexander on that list? That’s the biggest stinker I’ve seen in a while. Thankfully it was on DVD and my boyfriend paid to rent it so I was out nothing … except about 3 hours of my life that I will never get back. Damn you Oliver Stone!
I’ve seen 128. When I say “seen” I mean I was present in the room from beginning to end, but if it was on TV I might not have been giving the movie my full attention. I have 32 on DVD. I’ve also seen 70 in a theater setting (My college film society showed films every day, with classics at the beginning of the week and recent and cult films on weekends)
