And now: What about all those cops turning their backs on De Blasio?

This post is more infantile than the action of those police officers.

It’s like a schoolyard he-did-I-did.

Speaking of being infantile . . . At the risk of being infantile myself and injecting a crude and purely ad hominem attack into this otherwise fine discussion . . .

Every time I see that picture of this face I get the creepy-crawlies. That guy looks like a creepy distorted alien from some febrile nightmare in an old Hitchcock movie. Geez, the guy is creepy looking.

(BTW, that particular pic is from “The NYPD’s mini-rebellion, and the true face of American fascism” in Salon a couple days ago.)

Thank you for the link to that article; it was excellent.

Hahahaha. That’s funny. For the next week, every time I see a silly cartoon and a racist assumption, I’ll think of the value of your post.

You KNOW? Really? Is this insider information from the hide out? What costume does the Crawlspace wear? Or is it Kid Crawlspace? The Crawlspace Master? Is it the usual tights and cape, or something more original? What’s your super power? Eavesdropping from under floorboards? Scaring spiders? Radon gas detection? Is Marvel Comics aware of your abilities?

I’m not sure what’s sadder. doorhinge being serious, or doorhinge trying to be funny.

Wrong “claim”. Guess again.

Well, you’re right about one thing: I do make racist assumptions. I assume you’re racist.

But only based on your words.

There have been lots-o-changes thru the 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s, 2010’s, plus 5 more years. Changing legislation, rules, and regulations, multiple PR campaigns, new police chiefs, new mayors, new departments, fewer old departments, new techniques, etc. Broken Windows is just one change. Was it as effective as some people think? idk. Is it as bad as some people think? idk. I’m not a native New Yawker, just an outside observer. De Blasio campaigned against it (as well as other issues) and won the election.

The NYPD doesn’t like De Blasio’s position. I would have preferred it if De Blasio had allowed the “stop and frisk” case to proceed (especially after the judge was kicked off the case for bias, after issuing her ruling). He’s the mayor the voters wanted and it’s his city. Personally, I side with the cops on that issue.

Is it possible for a new study to actually separate the true effectiveness of Broken Windows from all of the changes? I doubt it.

The sun’ll come out tomorrow
So you gotta hang on
'til tomorrow, come what may!
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow
You’re always a day away!

Hahahaha. You make racist assumptions and then project your feelings on to others. Why? Who cares.

You are truly a very special snowflake.

OUCH!

Oh, snowflake, please!

Ya know, now that I think about it, wasn’t “snowflake” considered a racist term for black people, at one time? Has the meaning changed or are you guys using it differently?

I have a prodigious memory for ethnic slurs and I don’t recall that use of “snowflake.” Others, yes.

Correction: Saw it in a movie once. Didn’t seem to catch on the time. Maybe you can help it this time, but you need to use it outside this thread. Like in the Projects some evening. I’d love to see it.

While a lot of people may not agree with the police turning their backs on De Blasio I don’t know how there can by any actions taken against the officers. As far as I can tell there was no violence or threat of violence and there were no laws broken.

Wouldn’t these actions be protected by the ‘Freedom of Assembly’ and/or the ‘Right to Protest’?

Am I mistaken?

Yes they did

You’re obviously talking to andros and elucidator since they are the one who chose to use the term in this thread.

I was never a LEO, but I was in the military. When you are in uniform you are no longer acting as a private citizen and your speech and actions are curtailed accordingly. In the private sector, you can be fired from any job for making statements in an official capacity that the organisation deems to be against its interests or wishes.

The only question in my mind preventing the city from taking action, if they so choose, is union rules. Free speech should protect them if they spoke or acted as private citizens. It should not protect actions or speech in uniform.
