And on earth: peace, goodwill towards men - a defiantly Christmas-y MMP

Yes actually, thank you all for asking. I’ll elaborate as I go on. I didn’t get all the answers at once, so I’ll explain as I go along.

Mornin’, mumpers. Happy Saturday!!!

Sorry to hear about your car, bibs. I’m glad you got it back! Looking forward to hearing the story. And welcome back!

Pie, divorce does suck. {{{Pie}}}

Mr Rebo got up earlier, but he went back to bed. I’m hongry, though! I guess I’ll make some breakfast anyway. Ham-n-cheese omelets and grits oughta fill the void… I’ll feed him later.

Daughter is in Boston! Made there on time, too–after all that. Right now The Husband and I have to take her Mini Cooper in for maintenance.

Spent last evening watching TV–something I almost never do. I watched *Antiques Roadshow *(in UK), then the end of an Agatha Christie Mystery, then What Not to Wear–this chick on there truly thought she could TUCK IN a smock (dunno what they’re called now, maybe baby doll tops). Truly, truly clueless. Ended with watching two episodes of House, which I loved! That’s a great show.

Not the most productive evening, but I enjoyed it. I got out my knitting and attempted to learn (via book) how to cast on. I thought I had done it correctly, but when it came time to knit, my stitches–well, there were no stitches. I will try again today, with the online site.

All this busy work etc is because I just don’t want to do my practicum stuff–I need to write up a “job description” for my time at the library. I am somewhat lost re this–also, I am getting bad vibes from the lady whom I basically talked into giving me the internship. Ugh.

Ick, holiday carjacking. Welcome back, bb.

When we went to visit Best Friends in Texas, I spent most of one evening pinned next to a guy who told me, in loving detail, about why he loved his gun collection, and how great it was that he had the right to bear arms, and how much it must suck living in a Commie country like Canada. Best Friend apologized profusely after. Not her fault. It was some university party thing.
I’m going to put the kettle on, and see about hauling Mr. Lissar out of bed. My goal (our goal- he gets to do most of the work  ) is to put everything away and clear off all the surfaces today. The Slob Reformation Club will be proud of us.

Also I should make QD a shirt. It’s her as-yet uncompleted Christmas present.

Welcome back, BBS2K! And glad to hear that you have gotten your car back-huzzah.

We got a lot of rain last night (but are still about 6 inches below normal for the year); it’s clearing up now, though, so my daughter and I are going to go check out a bead/yarn shop in Takoma Park (a Nuclear-free zone, mind you!). Gotta go get ready! Tomorrow, the meteorologists are calling for rain/sleet, but supposedly not until the afternoon, so my grocery shopping will be done early tomorrow morning. Hopefully. I am working on Monday, but it should be a fairly quiet day (I’m hoping!) and maybe we’ll even get off a bit early.

Yay! I have another long weekend and IT DIDN"T SNOW! But we are expecting a lot of cold rain.
I have a few small errands to do and then my friend and I are going shopping! yay! Catherines has their Sping stuff out and I want to use my Claires gift card.

odderindat, I got nuttin’.

Glad your daughter made it to Boston on time, rigs.

Well, I’ve finished one batch of chocolate chip cookies (about 15 dozen). When I say finished, I mean they are mixed and scooped. We then freeze them and use them as needed. I’m going to do 1 more batch of chocolate chip, 2 batches with chocolate cookie dough, and some oatmeal.

Best friend is on her way to help.

Ok, back to mixing. And being covered with flour.

Back from breakfast, Lowe’s, and the marina. **FCD ** is in ManLand checking out his new orbital sander (the reason for the trek to Lowe’s) and I’m about to start cleaning. I decided to start in the dining room, and work my way clockwise thru the kitchen, family room, and living room. If I still have energy, I’ll attack the bedrooms. If not, they’ll get done eventually.

The rain has stopped and it’s starting to look like it wants to clear. I’ve got a load of towels in the washer and the rest of the dirties sorted and waiting to be cleaned. 'Tis the day of the domestical goddess. Good times…

Evening all. It’s my sister’s last night before she goes home (early) tomorrow morning, so I have put her to work making Chilli Calamari Salad for dinner! Actually, it was a special request from hubby, so she was happy to comply! Yes, sis’s flight leaves at 5:45am tomorrow, so I have to drop her at the airport at 3:45am. Fortunately, we only live 2 minutes from said airport, so I will leap out of bed at 3:40, drive to the airport, throw her out as I drive past and race back home to bed!

I just wanted to state for the record that I know the vast majority of US armed forces personnel (uniformed or otherwise) are genuine, nice people doing a job (like FCM), but unfortunately it’s the empty vessels that make the most noise! And this one just kept on making noise all evening. The funny thing was, because he said he was from the South, I kept thinking of swampus and how he would likely whump that young boy upside the head for being such a twit!

beebs, sorry I missed you this morning - welcome back sweetie!

Oky-doke, off to quaff some red wine and enjoy my calamari! Ta-ta all! :waving:

I am packed.

I don’t want to leave. I miss being at home :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

mmmmmmm - calamari… <insert much drool here>

Towels in the dryer, second load in the washer. Dining room is clean, including the spider plants that had far too many scraggly, dried out fronds. It’s been vacuumed and dusted (yes, I got the chandelier, the chair rail, and all the framed pictures) and all the stuff that had been accumulating on the table has found homes. Except for one ceramic dish - not sure what to do with it.

Next is the kitchen - that’ll be the worst of the 4 rooms, which is why I’m sitting here for the moment. Gotta psych myself up for the mess. Most of it is clutter, and most of the dishes are clean and awaiting their homes in the various and sundry cabinets. Still, overall, it’s a mess. Guess it won’t clean itself, and those slacker dogs and cat are all snoozing. **FCD ** is de-crudding ManLand (I found myself in a cloud of dust when I went down to the laundry room!)

I suppose while I’m in the kitchen, I can pull something out of the freezer for supper. Mebbe something easy like sketty sauce. And I’ll make a loaf of bread in the bread machine. Good idea! And tea - gotta make some iced tea for my sweetie.

So, back to work. Quit distracting me, you laze-abouts! I have things to do!! Sheesh!

I want calamari! I can has calamari?

I invited my brother and his visiting-from-out-of-town friend over for lunch, but am feeling too lazy to actually get up and, you know, make some. I suppose it’d be rude to feed them ramen.

Speaking of lunch, BestPieFriend went off to get us some Chinese food. So I’m taking a break in the meantime. Just to show you the mess I’ve made, I took these lovely pictures.

Also, I snapped a shot of my new Ugly Chair.
ETA: So in this case it’s when come back, bring chinese.

And, yes, that last baking picture is cookie dough, even though it looks like something else. :stuck_out_tongue:

I would have Dotty. I would have whumped him upside the haid and said, “wassail matterchew boy! ain’t you got no manners! you want yo momma to know you act lak this!” That’d learn him a thing or two!

Rebo you’re right! Ham and cheese omelets and grits do make a fine breakfast!

Ok, I went to the store cause since I made that executive decision to make ‘nanner puddin’ I had to go get 'nanners. No biggie though, cause I just went up to the little local store, the one the burly butcher owns. I said hi to him but I didn’t drool on him.

Also, I washed and got collard greens ready to get cooked on Monday. While I was doin’ so, a friend of ours dropped by for a little visit. So, we’re in the kitchen, me at the sink workin’ my poor little paws to the bone and them sittin’ at the breakfast table. Ol’ y’all know who decided to compliment me. He said that while he was drivin’ back on Thursday he started thinkin’ about New Year’s Day dinner and how that’s become his favorite meal of the whole season. I looked at him and said, “Why suh! How you do fill my head with your flattery!” Our friend looked at both of us and said, “Ya know, it’s really wonderful and kinda scary that you two somehow managed to find each other.”

It’s rainy and ick here. Friend is gone and I foresee naptime and possible well… after all my head is filled with flattery right now…

Afternoon, all. I lazed in bed with the cat purring in my ear this morning, till Isaac barking at the guys resurfacing the parking lot of the community center next door a bit too loudly right outside my window persuaded my bladder I could be a slugabed no longer. Stoopid dog.

Sorry about the car, bbs, but I’m glad you got it back – I too am looking forward to the story. Stolen cars suck. :frowning:

Mmm, squid! (Okay, you wussy Americans can call it calamari – Haze and I know it’s really squid!) We haven’t had good squid for a while. I need to talk Papa Tigs into going to that restaurant in D.C.'s miniature Chinatown where Young Tiger got the heavenly squid a few years ago. That was the bestest squid this side of Japan!

Sorry you ran into such an idiot, Dotty. If it’s any consolation, I actually had never heard of catfish noodling until a recent episode of Dirty Jobs, and am still horrified that people do it. That young man was definitely not a good representative of the US, although his educational idiocy is, alas, far too common.

Anyway, I’m now sitting around in my pretty red bathrobe that Papa Tigs got me for Christmas (along with a lovely coupon to the day spa around the corner), and debating whether I’m feeling industrious enough yet to get up and get dressed and get to work de-crudding the house. I did multiple loads of laundry yesterday evening and changed the sheets, so that’s at least a step in the right direction. But the spare bedroom needs to be sorted out – stuff to send on to snowbunny, books to replace on my shelves (she’s an incurable book thief  ), and generally make room again to be able to sleep in the bed, which is currently covered with boxes of snowbunny’s stuff, things that shouldn’t go into her storage unit (like DVDs). Hmm, she steals my books, maybe I should steal some of her DVDs?

It’s warm enough here today that Papa Tigs is contemplating taking the Idiots for a swim; the temp is already 52°. He has to go to the park to get a new 2008 annual entrance sticker for the car, in any case, and the Idiots know the park well enough that they cannot be bought off with a walk. So hopefully he’ll take them to do that, and go run a bunch of errands, and let me work on the house without 175 lbs of assistance constantly underfoot.

:: falls over laughing :: I would love to see this happen. That would so awesome.

Mmm, squid. Squid. Squiiiiiiiiiid. Cthul - er, I mean …

Throwing up is not my favourite activity.

Mr. Lissar and I are deep in housework. Well, he’s deep in housework. I’m on the computer. But I’m going to get up in a minute! We are listening to Flanders and Swann, * At The Drop Of A Hat*. They’re an English comedy duo from the sixties, and I was brought up listening to them. They’re still incredibly funny forty years later.

Bread machine is kneading and tea is brewing. Back to work for me. Stoopid housework.

Jeebus, LiLi–I think you’ll be throwing up IN the delivery room, at this rate!

Am back from BMW place–it’s about an hour away. Never saw so many Minis in one place before.  I wish I had a Mini.

I have replaced the pictures on the sideboard (DR) and credenza (LR). I [del]need[/del] want OTHERS to take the big boxes of my village up to the attic. I now need to strip the two remaining beds and wash those sheets. I also have put a pot roast into the crock pot, so dinner is done, but I wish I had calamari in the crock pot (can one crock pot calamari?). Tomorrow we tackle the tree, and I might get to #2 son’s room. #1 son is on notice to clean his room up, so that I can vacuum. This feels good, but I wish it could last a bit longer than it does (usually about 48 hours).

Good morning one and all! I’m vertical, after having slept in until 10:00 am. Of course, I didn’t go to be until around 3:00, so I guess that’s not too awful.

Welcome back beebs, Special 1 and anyone else I missed.

Yay on the job Haze! Every little bit of extra money helps.

Tonight we’re going to see Sweeney Todd. I don’t know what time, but we’re going to see it. That’s going to be my only weekend activity out of the house, except for maybe grocery shopping.

The prime rib soup turned out delicious! The only problem was that I didn’t have any crusty bread to go with it, so I made do with biscuits.

There’s just a wee bit of the soup left. We’ve been eating it for two nights now, and I don’t think there’s enough left for all four of us to have more for dinner tonight.

I really should put away all my holiday decorations and take down the tree, but we’ll see how it goes.

You know, maybe I’ll hit the mall sometime this weekend too. The kids, hubby and I received gift cards for various stores there, and the sales will probably be good.

Off to play some WoW I think.

Lissla, put your feet up and RELAX. The baby is going to keep you so busy when it arrives.
