And the Oscar goes to the MMP!!!

As the Old Wench would say, nothing could ever make me stable.

Not really. Da Jungle is an odd place in that being higher up the food chain doesn’t really bring any benefits in terms of future or stability. We’ve lost managers and above at the same high rate we do normal floor workers. It really is a case of both ends of the dog (us peasants and Seattle) chewing the crap out of the middle.

So you work at a place that delivers stuff & you had your picture on the wall. Ummm, just curious, was there a frame around your picture? :o

Haven’t been back to the sto’ yet.
Just et dinner - scrambled [del]brains[/del] aigs, cause they were quick & I was Hungary as I just gots home. Dessert, so far, is pretzels & a dipping cup of caramel sauce (sold in the produce section, near the apples). May nukelate some popcorn…or not.

Well, phooey. Was hoping they had the good sense to recognize a good thing when they had one.

I fell asleep for about a half hour, now I’m awake.

Yesterday was in the 70s, now we have snow.
It’s laying pretty well, too.
Somebody may have to shovel the sidewalk later today.

Hope you get some sleep Sari. I’m about to give it a try myself. We’re also going back onto snow watch over here. I doubt we’ll get enough to shovel though.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 40 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 67 and N.O.S. for the day. No big plans outside of some laundry which is fine by me. Fried catfish filets, coleslaw, and fries are on the menu for dindin.

A good friend died Wednesday. :frowning: She had moved to Gasden, Alibammy when she retired to be near her daughter and family. The funeral will be tomorrow afternoon over to the church house so we’ll be funeralizin’ tomorrow. RIP Teresa. She was a super fantastic person and one of the best cooks I have ever known.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy needs sustenance. Then I suppose I should purtify a bit and get laundry started as well as make the slaw. Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

TGIF.

I propose a new driving rule: When it’s clear and dry and the person in front of you still insists on driving 5 MPH below the limit, you have the right to get up under their rear bumper and put them into a ditch. Honestly, if a person can’t drive the limit on a clear, dry day, that person doesn’t deserve a license.

Then I got to the intersection where I have to turn left and there were all kinds of flashy blue lights and wreckers - apparently a bad accident was being cleared up. So I followed a truck doing an illegal left turn to bypass the mess, and I got to work without further incident.

Upon arrival, I saw an email that my boss sent out at 5 last night. It was about choosing a spot for today’s team lunch. Um, at 5, I was feeding the dog and getting ready to make my sweetie’s supper. I brought my lunch today. I shan’t be joining the team. Plus I only have $3 in my pocket.

Thus beginneth my day. Happy Firday!

Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Off today. Hockey tonight. It’s 32 right now ,so the Invisible Mole People are sleeping in ,and so is Gordie.

:frowning: I’m glad I got to meet her.

Sorry about your friend, swampy.:frowning:

If you believe a couple of my coworkers ------ the LAST thing mine would say would be “wanted”!

There is a book out there

that I would recommend to every employee and especially every manager at Da Jungle. I don’t agree with everything in it and sortation centers and fulfillment centers are different critters but overall it gives a good heads-up of the kind of world you are walking into.

Happy Firday!

I finally got to sleep, and the snow didn’t amount to much, so no shoveling needed.
It’s a cloudy, chilly, 34 degrees outside. The real feel is supposed to be 21. I don’t have to go out so I don’t have to deal with it. It’s supposed to be going down into the teens at night.

FCM - I agree. I’ve always wanted a cow catcher in the front of my truck, just flip those slow pokes right out of the way. Or have some go-go-gadget lifts that would lift my truck up and widen the wheel base so I could ride over them.

I almost overslept this morning, so I logged in to irk and haven’t eaten anything yet. I think a nice piece of ham and some peas sounds good.
Then I need to get to irk around here.
Probably will be taking a nap later.

I’m sorry about your friend Swampy

Lunch has been ingested. I didn’t walk today - too gray and cold and ick out there - I heard someone say it was snowing, but I didn’t want to walk to the lobby, so I’ll just trust the report.

Busy afternoon to follow a busy morning. I was going to talk to my boss about going to a 4-day week, but I don’t see that happening just yet. Which is fine. Busy is good.

Quitting time is better, tho!

The makeage of coleslaw and the launderin’ of laundry have been completed. I also made tea as we were, Og forbid, almost out! This afternoon is therefore devoted to sloth until time to start dindin.

I was not successful in the one lottery that I entered. :frowning: Therefore, I will not be partaking of all five boroughs of NYC, on foot, come the first weekend in Nov. I get to keep the $295 entry fee in my pocket…or not since the car will be $600+ in an hour or two whence it’s done. Inspection, brakes, & front rotors.

Anxiously awaiting an email about the other race we entered; should find out sometime today. Much shorter, but much, much tougher per mile.

blurf Happy Firday!

Hubby is having some expensive dental work done. Our dentist does not file insurance so I file it myself and we pay the dentist as time of service. Well the bill was $3750 and hubby paid it and brought me the insurance paperirk. I get to keep the money when whatever is reimbursed and use it to get my $600 car repair from the hit and run asshole who scuffed my paint. I hope it will be at least that much.

I am trying to reach the “teacher” of the alcohol class to see if there is anyway she can teach me during the week next week. I have to drive an hour to get here and I am not feeling it tomorrow.

Sorry bout your friend Swampy

Today is Wifey’s 70th birthday! Huzzah! For the next 3 months she will be older than me, the cradle robber!
Right now she’s out with her arty friends at their ‘sketch club’ meeting. They don’t have lessons, they just get together to work on stuff in a big group and give each other encouragement and kvetch. (I think that’s the right word.) She loves it and it makes her happy.

Her Birthday present showed up on Tuesday. She’s been enthralled with the show about Queen Victoria on PBS, so I got her a copy of a book supposedly written by Victoria herself about her experiences in Scotland. Whenever you see something ‘written’ by somebody famous and there’s another name on the cover you (I) always wonder how much each person actually had to do with the writing.

Also, they’re having a B’day party for her at her office this afternoon. Yes, she still works. Our retirement money (my IRA) was pretty savagely mangled in 2007, so without her income we’d be homeless. I, unfortunately, have enough serious health issues that I am essentially unemployable. Besides, I am/was an expert in a computer language nobody uses anymore, and the only other thing I was good at, building houses, my body won’t allow me to do with any kind of speed these days.
Well, enough whining.

Went to the endodontist yesterday. He was supposed to give me a root canal, but when he looked at the tooth he said if he did a root canal and they put on a crown it would probably be too weak to last very long and I would be wasting my money. Better to just have it pulled and go from there. So now the ball is back in the dentists court, so to speak. Waiting for a chance to talk to him about it. Joy.

Sorry about your friend Swampy. I know folks gotta go, but it seems like such a waste, especially for some folks.

Well, Ima get some time on the stationary bike and watch ‘Ask This Old House’ on the DVR before Wifey gets back.

Ta

Condolences about your friend Swampy. :frowning:

When I see the sign proclaiming the millions of dollars just waiting for me to buy a ticket, I recall the famous SDMB saying: Lotteries are played by people who are bad at math.

I have noticed with my new (to me) Suburban that folks do not randomly pull out in front of me any more and there’s a lot less toodling a long in front of me for long stretches for no reason. I don’t drive it too much, what with gas mileage, and not needing all that space, but do enjoy the perks when I do.

Back when I worked in tech I looked into Da Jungle and quickly decided that I wanted no part of it. Made me a little sad, to be honest. I like their products and I rely pretty heavily on them right now when getting out of the house can be hard, but I also don’t like the way they treat people at all.

Spidey - thanks to you all I see are banner ads for those suits, every site I go to.

Ima go fry up some catfish filets and fries shortly. First gotta let the oil heat up which takes a bit in the deep fryer thingy. I am glad the weather is mild and that I have a nice covered back porch in which to set up deep fryer thingy and fry fish. No fried fish smell in da cave that way.

Happy Birthday Bumbawifey. I have actually met Bumba and his wife. They were nice. Didn’t axe murder me at all! There are some ladies at the church who get together once a week to knit, crochet, etc and talk. They call it “Stitch and Bitch.”

Thanks for all the condolences y’all! Teresa was one of the good ones.

Happy Birthday, BumbaWife!

Off to hockey.
