And we've past the summer solstice in the MMP

And now I’ve ordered a screen door for the laundry room exterior door. It should be available for pickup from BLowes in 3 to 7 days. Once the weather cools down, we can open that door for some really good crossflow without worrying about escaping cats.

Laundry is all down, folded, and put away - it was a good day for drying. And I finally got around to chopping up all the leftover chicken. FCD and I are having chicken salad for supper, and I’ll make chicken-rice soup tomorrow. I’ve hauled all the basement stuff downstairs, but sewing on the preggo dress isn’t going to happen today. I’ll do it tomorrow.

The rest of today will be dedicated to chillage and crocheting in front of the TV. We talked about going to a concert in Leonardtown, but nah. Neither of us feels like it. The walk from parking to the venue will kick FCD’s butt. So chillage it is.

BLowes is right. I ordered a new oven from them 2 weeks ago today. Still haven’t heard word one about actually getting it. It was a killer sale, so I’m not gonna cancel the order and will make them honor it.

The piston is ready to be picked up. For all the good it would do me. The screen door is ‘delayed’, and it looks like July 5th at the earliest.

Do you have air conditioning? You’d be surprised how stoic I’d be if I had central air or even a window unit. Heck, I’d be happy if I had a car with a/c (or just a car). Since I don’t have any of those things, I’ll have to content myself with whining. I’d take 120º with a/c over 100º without in a heartbeat. I do salute anyone who lives where it’s hot all the time.

flyboy, sounds like you’re having a rough day. It’s the cocktail hour. Hope you and Mrs. LA are hoisting a few.

ETA: I wonder how the mini-Mumpfest is going.

Working on our first margaritas.

Since we couldn’t reach the one end of the shade mount, Mrs. L.A. insisted we use 30 lb 3M double-stick tape. I did get one screw in, but she didn’t use it. The end we can get to has no screws. If it falls down overnight, Mrs. L.A. will have learned a lesson.

Howdy!

The Mumpfest went well. magic and Mrs Magic were delightful hosts and it was good to see metal mouse again. We need to do this more often.

sari, one of these days, the outside cat will come upon the birdies eating its food and make a buffet out of them. :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s a load of shirts in the dryer and once they’re folded, laundry is finished. Tomorrow, I may or may not go to brunch in the park with the heathens. The older I get, the more I need a day of semi-sloth at home on the weekend, so we’ll see.

Well, I’m back.

1,300 miles and 3 hotels in two states, lots of walking and driving, and ending up meeting red, wizard, and Ms. Wizard. Only stayed for two hours, it was hot and I was sore from a cave visit (Dunbar Cave in Clarksville, TN–nice) that led to me falling and having trouble getting up (a combination of slick mud/rock, casual slip-on shoes, having to bend more than halfway over to clear an obstacle…and you cannot change the laws of physics. Lucky I was halfway down anyway, so crawled where I could have more headroom and got some assistance from other folks. Nothing damaged except my shirt and jeans, and continued with the tour.

Maus and Ms. Maus are really nice folks and red was her usual talkative and personable self. We spent about 2 hours together before the sun and the 110 miles to home led to us breaking up. Agree with red that we need to do this again sometime.

Hopefully this edit will take. (Note: It did)

Napped and laundered. Having some Ranch Water for cocktail hour.

Glad the Mumpfest went well.

Glad you made it home OK metal mouse. I hope you aren’t too sore from your spill.

Definitely a recipe I am gonna have to try. Grown-up pop.

Me too. I haven’t seen Topo Chico, but Pelegrino is readily available.

FWIW, I’ve had three margaritas. I think I’m done with those for tonight.

Mrs. L.A. has set up the inflata-bed in the catio. She’ll be sleeping outside tonight.

I’m so glad to hear the Mumpfest went well! MetalMouse, OUCH on the fall! I expect you’ll really feel it tomorrow. You take care of yourself now, OK?

It’s almost 10:00 and 90º outside. This does not bode well for tomorrow’s weather. Does heat affect train tracks? The train is usually late. I’m not sure the depot building will be open. (It’s staffed by elderly volunteers.) I’m a bit concerned about standing in the 110º sun for long.

I’ve learned more about cocktails from you people…

Has it cooled off there? It’s 80º inside and 90º outside. I’d choose indoors.

Take an umbrella to shield you from the sun while waiting for the train?

Here’s hoping for an easy, pleasant @nelliebly trip tomorrow :crossed_fingers:t3::crossed_fingers:t3::crossed_fingers:t3::crossed_fingers:t3::crossed_fingers:t3:

Thank you! if you don’t hear from me, I melted into a nellie puddle on a sidewalk.

I have the Pellegrino, lime and tequila. Afternoon plans are made. It’ll only be 28 C (82 F) today, but that’s plenty warm in my book.

Glad to hear the mini-mumpfest went well.

It can. Switzerland’s been experimenting with painting the rails white to see if that will help. The highest measured temperature is 41.5 C (106 F), so it doesn’t get as hot as it does in southeast US. It seems that Italy’s been doing this for a while.

So far heat has not been the major weather problem. Too much water, whether liquid or ice (hail), is this year’s big issue.

Hope everybody’s able to stay cool and hydrated.

I’d better get to the station early with a brush and a bucket of white paint!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 91 and mostly cloudy for the day. Downright cold compared to what you PNW Mumpers are dealin’ with. Hope everyone is survivin’! The big plan of the day is deheathenization. I cooked a hunk o’ beast in the slow cooker yestiddy along with some N.O.T. and carrots. We shall head back to da cave after deheathenization ahd have sammiches for N.O.L. Sup shall be pot roast with carrots and N.O.T., baby lima beans, and rolls. Probably no quality cee-mint pond time due to cloudy weather, so we shall have to be inside sloths today.

Glad the axe murder meetup went well!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Up at 4-ish, but I did go to bed early, so I guess I got enough sleep. I’ve showered, dressed for breakfast out (we’re meeting Daughter and Roxy at Cracker Barrel), tended to the critters, and watered my plants out back. The ones in pots were looking thirsty. I’ve got about an hour anna quarter to kill till we have to leave.

Last night, I whipped up a little dress for Roxy. Today, I’ll do my best to finish my daughter’s dress. Not sure what else is on the agenda, not sure that I care…

Did anyone post mini-Mumpfest pics?

Onward! Happy Sunday!!
