Afternoon all. Typing this from the 7th floor of the Ameristar Hotel in Vicksburg, Miss. About a 6 hour drive with a stop for lunch, Interstate all the way down, so still have a half-tank of gas. Hotel is across the road from the Casino, they usually have a shuttle, but COVID…so will drive over in a bit and see about losing some money at blackjack. It is nice just to be laying in a big bed, not worrying about how low I set the AC, and somebody else has to do the cleaning…
Sari, Dicey, sounds like you caught some nasty weather. Hasn’t been too bad in N. Ali-bama so far this year, but we do have tornado season to worry about… Take care and be well.
Nut, sounds like you’ve made out about as best you can. Hope the lodging issue can get solved soon.
shoe, sounds like something serious…hope there is nothing buried in the basement…
FCM, yeah for Roxy and all the ladies; sounds like the kiddo had fun.
VanGo, I’m not fond of the color either, but very nice work!!
Cat Glove, I love people who walk…I could watch them all day… Be well.
Sari, thanks for catching us up with your mob. And 91 dogs…the mind boggles.
OK, need to go lose some money and find a place to dine tonight. All y’all take care.
Howdy Y’all! Rainy day off and on, so much sloth ensued, as promised. OK, I did make the sketties 'n meatballs, sallit, and cheesey garlic bread we et for sup. That counts for productivity. So, I was eighty percent sloth, at best. I somehow managed not to have any kind of duty for Bob’s funeral tomorrow. Thus, we shall go be mourners. Thanks to all for the condolences.
All you folks with the bad weather stuff, YIKES! Some higher than normal winds knocked down a small branch on a tree out front, but that’s nuttin’ compared to what I read upthread.
MetalMouse did it feel like the drive across Mipisipipi felt like forever? I did I20 across there a few times for irk purposes and it always felt like forever. I would get to Vicksburg and either go north or south on some Mipisipipi pig trail. Most of Mipisipipi is pig trails, btw.
nellie, it’s good that those who receive thank yous do appreciate them. I make cards in my studio, so always have a supply. When one of my teammates goes above and beyond, I try to take a card and / or consumable treat to express my gratitude. These are the folks who can make my job either easy or hard.
I’m sorry about Bob swampy.
Glad there wasn’t more damage from the storm sari.
VanGo,like you, that isn’t the stain that I would have chosen, but I like the design and construction.
shoe,12 strips of bacon? That’s just a tease.
metal mouse, Sis and I were just talking about the neverending drive across Mississippi on I20 when she was driving it. I told her that was why I usually went all the way down to I10 when going to her house. She had never taken either route, but wanted to avoid the bridge on I40 that 's closed in Memphis.
I got my new folding lawn chair for Saturday’s mini-Mumpfest today. I wanted something that wasn’t one of those ones that folds into a little bag but seats you so low that it’s hard to get out of. Not to mention that, as a woman of size, I never felt that they were sturdy enough for me. This is the chair that I got. I tried it out. Comfortable and sturdy.
I am changing banks. It will be a slow and steady process. Today I needed to deal with Social Security to change the direct deposit info. Two infuriating hours later it is done.
I un-grounded the cats. Mostly because, well, we were all driving each other bonkers. They’re under close supervision, and NO BURR SHRUBS NIKKI I don’t know where she found those.
So I’m sitting in the cool twilight, cross stitching, and Nik and Monk are being good. They’re loaf-ifying near me, as if they’ve never misbehaved in their lives.
I dunno. Might give them some catnip. I mean, they ARE being well-behaved.
Whew! Made it on here at last! Spent much of the day on the phone, first with my sister and then with my daughter. I’m emotionally tapped out and have hung a CLOSED sign around my neck. I did get to the gym and had a good workout–700 calories burned on the treadmill. (I go by calories and not time; this way I’m motivated to max the incline and move faster. )
Emily, congrats! That’s wonderful news! And what a quick turn-around from submission to acceptance!
swampy, my condolences on the loss of your friend. It’s hard losing good people, and Bob sounds like he was definitely Good People.
MetalMouse, glad you made it to the hotel safely. So glad you’re having a mini-Mumpfest!
doggio, how hot does it get where you work? What happens if it gets to be, say, 110º? Do people start keeling over? It sounds brutal.
nut, your plans sound pretty sensible. Hope the moves go smoothly.
No big excitement today, thankfully, except for DH’s wallet showing up in the washer while I was moving his laundry to the dryer. He now has cards spread out all over his desk (and why he has so many obsolete items in there, I do not know). As far as I’m concerned, this one’s on him. My whole life, households I’ve been in held it to be the responsibility of the owner of the clothing to see to it pockets are properly emptied, not the responsibility of the person doing the laundry.
Even idiot stepfather did concede that point when I was in my teens doing laundry and discovered his pocket watch had toured the washer. My grandfather very calmly asked me for my hair dryer, then opened the watch and dried it out. No damage done.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis < snerk > 69! < snerk > Amurrkin out and fair (as opposed to downright ugly?) with a predicted high of 90 and partly to mostly N.O.S. for the day. We shall funeralize Bob at eleven this mornin’. Then we shall go to the hog trough Golden Corral for N.O.L. Any other need to feed today will be via forage. We shall also stop at the Food/Winn/Harvey’s/Lion/Dixie for a few provisions on the way back to da cave. That’s enough for one day. Anymore and our title of Sloth Kings may be in jeopardy.
MG huzzah!
red I like how the chair has a built in beerverage holder. Now that’s class!
Nettie that’s the laundry rule I grew up with. The rule also stated that any coinage or loose cash found in pockets became the property of the launderer. Only fair.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I must needs purtify and don proper funeralizin’ attire.
I’ve showered and dressed and packed, and I’m caffeinating and breakfasting on a hard boiled egg and bread. Meh. I think my sister’s awake downstairs but the upstairs folk are still a bed, except for me.
And I’ve got a floater in my left eye. Most annoying, it is! My reaction is to swat at the insect that isn’t there… so hard to be me… < dramatic pose of woe >
