Good morning to you all.
Congrats on the new ride, Hippie.
I hope all goes well with the doctor’s visit, FCM.
After work yesterday, I washed the first layer of dirt off the GOV vehicle. It didn’t make a ton of difference, but it helped. All of our cars are stored in a secure lot that has very fir trees surrounding it. Pitch dots the finish, plus there are pine needles in every place they can work themselves into. We have a 25 dollar allowance to wash the cars every month, but that gets you a basic run through the car wash. They each need a decent detail job and I wish we could get some kind of cover over the cars, but that will never happen.
At any rate, I’ll have to run the car through the car wash again when returning from dusty Yakima, but it’ll be cleaner. I need Windex the windows inside though; they are smeared to hell and back. I don’t know who did that. I couldn’t do it yesterday because the sun was beating down on the car at that point. I’ll do it sometime within the next three or four hours.
I told my husband if had come along, we could have taken my Jeep (no one but employees in GOVs) and we could have had some evening fun, plus enjoyed the scenery on the ride there and back. But, we’d need to find someone to dog sit Polar. I’m sure my son would do it, but not last minute. Besides, it’s fiscal year-end for him (state employee and a senior budget analyst), so he’s a little busy at the moment.
I’m sure the drive will be nice once I hit the mountains, but I’m not looking forward to the lessor meeting. I also have so much work to do that I’ll be working a few hours this morning, and then logging back in once I reach Yakima and check into my hotel. I’ll have to talk to my boss about credit hours because we have to ask first.
My son-in-law is coming over sometime tomorrow morning to install their old portable AC unit. I am happy about that because we’re supposed to see temps exceeding 100 degrees. That’s too freakin’ hot no matter where you live, but especially for us heat averse Pacific Northwesterner’s.
Meh, I really, really, really donwanna. I’d like to just make the drive a leisurely ramble through the mountains and leave early. That’s what I do whenever I take a road trip for fun. I like to leave very early in the morning, beating the traffic, and watching the sun come up. Then stop for a leisurely breakfast and hit the road and drive until I reach my destination, maybe stopping someplace that catches my eye or for some water or snack. But, this is work and since I’m paid for my drive to the destination, there can’t be anything really leisurely about it. Get there today and get back tomorrow is the order of the day.
In about two hours, I’ll need to go out and water all my plants to make sure they receive a good soak. I know my husband will forget and I don’t want them shriveling up in the heat.
