And we've past the summer solstice in the MMP

At the risk of jinxing everything, I think I have my phone set up satisfactorily.

FCD is napping. I am thoroughly unmotivated, so I’ve done nothing but play with my phone. I’m about to work on the hexagon blanket from hell while watching something on TV - hope I can find something worthy of my attention.

I may have developed a bit of an attitude. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m so happy for you & the Mrs. Maus! Glad to hear her hemoglobin is in the normal range.

I love that video. It’s like watching me & my older sister.

Bippity, the mental image you painted is going to keep me entertained for hours.

Work is kind of ridiculous today. Everyone is so stressed we’re all a little slap happy, which I think is probably better than if we were all a little stabby. Good thing we’re all working from home.

Well, you can’t have. I haven’t sent you my phone number or a suitably goofy picture of me to attach to it. So your contacts are woefully paltry.

fetching, fascinating, fulsome Boo

I do have your phone number - you forgot you gave it to me??? No photo, tho.

Chinese delivery for supper because I don’t feel like cooking. Like I said - attitude…

Afternoon all. Safely ensconced in the Hotel in the bustling metropolis of Cornith, Mississippi. Drive was 99% non-interstate, even the 4-lane highways had stoplights and free entry to the road, so had to pay attention. Did get to see Amtrak’s City of New Orleans heading for it’s namesake passing me, and properly passed cars on a 2-lane road without trouble (first time I’ve done that in years). South Mississippi is Not Our Swampy, but definitely not for desert dwellers. Up north it’s dries and more populated, although the whole state looks kind of empty to me. Spent about 60 miles on the Natchez Trace road and if you’re not in a rush, it’s worth the time. IMHO.

Will shortly head out to find sustenance, there is a Huddle House not far from here, but also want to check on some local places.

Wizard, congrats on the health check, may you and Mrs. stay healthy. And I get mail at least every other week from somebody wanting to buy my house…no deal.

Sari, sounds like Echo needs that trainer from National Geographic (Cesar or something) to stop being a brat,

Talky, feel sorry for the bird, but not sure if there is anything that can be done, good luck.

OK just got some more towels delivered (via the door, me being somewhat lacking in the clothing department. Will head out about 5pm to forage for sustenance (so far today that has been 4 glazed donuts and a Coke). Then some reading and internetting, tomorrow has several stops in it. All y;all take care.

Six years ago ( :grimacing: ) we shot a film on Bayou Caddy, Waveland, and a scene in New Orleans.

Rhetorical question:
If water is heavier than gas and goes to the bottom of the tank when the gas separates, why would my mower run for an hour before it chokes and dies if I have ‘bad gas’?
I’m getting disgusted with trying to mow my lawn. If we weren’t planning on selling this house this year I’d go buy another battery-powered mower for here.

Ima go eat lunch now.
BTW, vinegar will get most of the smell of gasoline off of your hands. Mostly.

As others here in the PNW have said, we’re heading toward triple digit heat. I’m headed to Seattle for a doctor’s appointment Sunday, when it’ll hit 100, and returning home Monday, when it’ll be 104º. I don’t have air conditioning, live on the second floor, and don’t do well in heat. A/C on the train and in the hotel will be a blessing. Maybe I should have stayed an extra night.

A friend just texted me that his wife, also a friend, just passed away. It was not unexpected, and I’m grateful she died without pain. Still…

Wizard, congrats on the good news re: Mrs. Wizard’s health.

MetalMouse, glad the trip is going well. Stay safe.

Glad I’m not the only fussy one. And I like them at the same level of ripeness. I tend to like my fruit underripe. Mushy fruit belongs in a jar with a baby on the label.

wordy**, were you able to free the woodpecker?

I’d better get up and take my endorphins to the gym. They like to run wild.

metal mouse, you were wise to walk while you were even and ahead. I’ve ridden the Natchez Trace about halfway through Mississippi from Nashville and used to take it regularly when I went to Tupelo. It’s a pretty ride.

Congrats on the new wheels hippy! Makes me miss my truck.

Sorry about Woody wordy. Even the pests deserve a more dignified demise.

That was a good fable sari.

Yay for MrsMagic’s good numbers!

I’m sorry for your loss nellie.

The boss and grandboss were hassling me again today. That, and they’ve been working on the fire alarms all week with alarm bells and high pitched alarms going all afternoon. Ain’t no wonder I’ve had a splitting headache all week.

I know I’ll be short of time this weekend, with a couple of social things going on, so’s I ordered groceries to be delivered this evening. The only thing that I don’t like about that setup is all of the plastic bags they bring to me. I may have to use doggio’s strategy and use them for poo bags, even though they aren’t biodegradable. At least they won’t go to the landfill without being reused.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I think that’s reasonable and you will have done enough. Same thing happens here~especially with WalMart. One or two small items per bag. Drives my daughter bonkers. My granddaughter’s preschool often asks for donation of those type of bags so they collect them and send them in to be re-used.

Hope your head :face_with_head_bandage: feels better. I’ve had a niggling little headache today and just discovered why~big barometric shift with a big rainstorm rolling in. Wish we could send the rain out west to cool things down.

Howdy Y’all! Accomplished mowage over to the church house (well, three hours worth as my contribution), got back to da cave, showered, achieved nappage, then we reheated and et the leftover sketties ‘n meatballs. Thus was my day. I thought I’d get rained out of mowage a couple of times this mornin’. On the plus side, it was cloudy and not so hot.

wordy hope you were able to rescue Woody.

nellie so sorry for your loss. Even when it’s expected, it’s still sad.

Wizard yay for Mrs. Wizard. Also, congarats to Spike!

sari so did sah-son learn his new word of the day?

MetalMouse yep, Mipisipipi is pretty much empty. All the little towns also look the same. I’ve been to Corinth for irk purposes. Safe travels across the vast wilderness.

I think I forgot to say congrats on the new ride, hippy.

red, nothing makes for headaches like fire alarms going off all the time, as I’m sure hippy can attest, though I think it’s worse when you don’t know when they’re coming. And I hear you on the plastic bags. Wish we had a program like Boo mentioned. I prefer paper bags (or cloth when the stores allow), but I don’t think those biodegrade in landfills, either.

boo, hope your headache fades away like distant thunder.

swampy, glad the mowing got done so you won’t have to do it again for…a week? Two?

My brother called just 'cause. That made me feel better. I don’t want to sound like it’s all about me, but I’ve had enough loss this year. I’d really like a long interval of good news for the people I care about. That includes all of you. So mwah! :kissing_heart:

And the Montreal Canadiens advance the the Stanley Cup Finals
Ole! Olé! Olé! Olééééé! Olé! :canada: :fr:

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

“Male honey bees die soon after mating. Their entire life is literally: Honey. Nut. Cheerio.” :honeybee:

I woke from a very disturbing nightmare around 4 this morning. It involved car theft, murder, and me having to swim to get away from the murderer - I’m not much of a swimmer. And to add to the weird, Leonard Hofstetter was there. Thinking back, it was a pretty stupid dream, but I was really in turmoil when I awoke! Then when I was finally about to drop off again, the idiot cat started banging against our bedroom door. At that point, I just gave up.

Critters are fed. I’m fed. It’s 57° this morning - such a weird weather summer! Laundry is my main chore today, but my daughter’s dress pattern was delivered yesterday, so I may start working on a couple of preggo dresses for her. They’re super simple patterns. Not sure what else I’ll do today, but I expect my hours will be filled with excitement. Yeah, that’s the word - excitement… Like trimming my fingernails…

Happy Firday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 66 Amurrkin out (BRRR!) and fair (as opposed to carnival?) with a predicted high of 90 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. i shall betake myself over to the church house to deal with some church janitor Junior Warden duties and to perform candle duty. I foresee some quality cee-mint pond time this afternoon. Sup shall be burgers 'n fixin’s and fries.

nellie the church yahd is mowed every two weeks. Da cave yahd is also mowed every two weeks. Thus one week 'tis the church yahd, then the next week it’s da cave yahd. Apparently I am a yahd irk masochist.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, woe, and bother, I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire.

Happy Firday Y’all!

How can you go 2 weeks between mowings? My lawn looks out of control after a week! Different kinds of grass, I’m sure, but still… In fact, I should mow today, but I’ll probably put it off till tomorrow.

Morning all. Seems I’m going to bed earlier and waking up sooner every day. Heading into Tennessee today for some sight-seeing and end up in Clarksville. Temps should be around 90F again…oh joy, but better than our West Coast MMP’ers (nellie, if it gets too bad, check into a hotel or find some place that is offering protection…heat exhaution/stroke is not fun…

Need to get moving, so yeahs, tears, hugs, and cheers whenever and wherever needed. All t’all have a good Firday.

Happy (wtf day is it) Firday.

It’s a bright 59 degrees outside.

No dog park today, I’m not up to it. We have a playdate scheduled with Buttercup and Ruby later, so the brats can just deal with it.

And brats they are.
My son got off at 5 this morning.
No, he hasn’t learned the word ‘Uber’ yet.
My dogs don’t like the ride to take him to irk, or to pick him up. So, Echo gave me a hard time about getting in the truck. She made me chase her through the yard to put the leash on her, and still balked at getting in the truck.
Most dogs like going for a ride. Mine get pissed if we don’t go somewhere fun. Driving Sah-son back and forth to irk is not fun. Before my neighbor got his car, I used to drive him and his roommate to their doctors’ appointments, and to the store. The brats got pissed at those rides too, although not as pissed as if I had left them home.
Talk about spoiled!
Then Ripple rides shotgun. Nobody rides in the passenger seat, he will NOT move. Except for the neighbors. Both of them are very thin and they would get in front and share the seat with Ripple. Ripple didn’t like it, but too bad.
Echo rides in the back, but for whatever reason, she will not ride in the back with my son. So, she tries to jump up front with Ripple, who will not move from the center of the seat and give her some room. Nope, not gonna happen, and he will lean into her to push her out., which pushes her into me, or she rides half sitting on top of him.

Normally, I don’t care, but this morning I was just not in the mood to put up with their crap.

My neighbor D, who doesn’t drive, is applying to irk where my son irks. I hope he gets put on the same team as my son, and then my other neighbor, R, and I can take turns driving them back and forth.

Sorry about da jungle order Doggio.
It got messed up though. I ordered two bags of dog food, both the same kind and at the same time. Both of them went out for delivery at the same time. One got delivered and the other one is running late. I suspect the driver didn’t know there were two boxes and only delivered one of them.

All the mess out back is gone. There is still one broken branch way up in the tree. The lawn guy said he has a few people who want their trees topped, and if he can coordinate everybody, he will rent a lift and we can split the cost between us. That irks for me.
There is a whole lot more sunlight in the backyard now. About half the top of the tree is gone.
He charged an additional $25 to take away the neighbor’s mess. I’m debating asking her for the money. She said to let her know how much. I may just cover it myself.

Got papers to sign from the refinance people yesterday. Finally figured out where their figures were wrong. I knew something didn’t look right. They miscalculated the escrow, which would have had me paying $60/month too much.

I too, wonder how you can go two weeks between mows Swampy.

I saw

and thought of you Nuts.

Good news Wizard.

More laundry to do today.
And irk, there is always irk, which has become more irksome than ever.
I have been on the verge of quitting, but I do like having a roof over my head and food in my belly.
There is a problem customer that I deal with on a regular basis, and I am running out of patience. She won’t talk to anybody but me because I am so ‘nice’ and ‘helpful’. She could save both of us a lot of aggravation if she would just record the call and play it over when she needs it. I tell her the same damn thing every time she calls. I know she is older, and lonely, and has no friends (big surprise there!), and needs somebody to talk too. But she is not nice, and I have almost hung up on her because of her rudeness. She will even argue with me, tell me I am wrong and don’t know what I am doing. Yet every time she calls, she requests me because I am the best. Go figure.
I keep telling myself, it all pays the same, it all pays the same, just let it go.

Up and at 'em early this morning. I had a good ride. There was a two (four?) point buck right next to the road at one point. I also altered my route a bit, which added a half mile and a nice, long downhill section with a long straight away at the bottom. Weee! The fitbit says I had hit twenty-seven miles per hour.

Swampy you must have Augusta or zoysia grass to be able to go two weeks without mowing.

Coffee maker just beeped. I’m off to snag the last cup before it gets too cool.
