I almost responded to this in ATMB but decided it best to keep my mouth shut. Now that it’s in the pit I’m curious though. Why is Doz banned? Because he voiced an opinion about the moderating and cliques on the board in a somewhat aggressive manner in a ATMB thread? A thread that should have probably been in the pit to begin with? He seemed like a non-troublemaking poster to me so why the stiff punishment?
I’m not trying to start an argument, Im just asking a question.
Am I to read that as being directed toward the socks Board or should there be a “not” between “is” and “run” up there?
Have I been doing this all wrong the whole time? (Or have I been Admin whooshed by a facetious comment? :eek: )
pezpunk- DoZ made a personal insult in ATMB. Personal insults go in the Pit, not ATMB. Upon being told by a Moderator to take it to the Pit, DoZ chose to argue with the Moderator and impugn* his motivations. Such actions belong in the Pit, not ATMB.
So what we had here was a poster who did not follow the forum rules, and showed no interest in following the forum rules.
And quite frankly, we are biased against posters with low post counts. If a poster has a low post count but spends most of their time complaining about the administration, the moderators, or the board, we’re not going to think twice about booting them. Especially if said poster uses a spoofer to try and hide their connection. Especially if, upon tracing, said poster comes from one of the two cities that an amazing 90% of our problem children (definied as- people who post to this board mostly to complain) come from.
Posters with low post counts but who actually contribute something- say, answering a question in GQ, discussing things in GD or CS, etc.- should have no fear.
*I knew that word before Clare used it.

Look, if you have only 10 posts and every post is a complaint about how the board is run, then something is wrong. If you just joined but can’t stand how the board is run, then why in hell did you join? Why not go somewhere else where things are run according you your wishes? There’s a whole big internet out there.
But of course, the truth is that most of these low-count whiners are simply socks. Not all, perhaps…some are just troublemakers and chronic assholes. But if a guy joins and immediately starts complaining about cliques and mods and how unfair everything is, well, that person probably has some sort of history on the SDMB. It is as simple as that.
There are thousands of members who have less than a dozen posts. The mods don’t even notice these people unless all they do is complain or cause trouble. Good gravy, don’t you sock puppets have anything better to do? I know, the internet is a fun place. But why can’t you have your fun somewhere else? What’s up with this obsession with the SDMB? It’s pathetic is what it is.
I think UncleBeer/Slip Mahoney is the fuckmallet here. Have you noticed that Slip not only sounds exactly like Beer, and always posts in his defense, and only appears on forums where UncleBeer has been warned to mind his manners. Funny, huh?
Most socks don’t care about manny. He only annoys people who’s threads are moved, and theirs aren’t. They know which forum to post on. UncleBooze, Coolcock, and Alanon are the creeps here.
