And your hobby is?

Why should I (or anyone else) give you half-assed credit for some subject you profess to be knowledgeable about?

Tell me and everyone else about your passion.

Be clear, be concise.

You’re being graded. By Alphagene…

He’s just gonna LOVE me!

Make sure you direct all email to him c/o the BBQ pit…

I draw. I write. I act.

That’s really about it, actually.

I have a lot of my poems, short stories, essays, etc., not to mention a lot of my drawings, posted at my website, if anyone’s curious. What, you expect me to provide a link for you? Read my profile, for crying out loud!!

Sheesh… some people just expect too much from a shameless plug…

How about you, Byz, what hobbies do YOU have, aside from annoying Mods? (That’s a worthy pursuit, mind you).

I have several hobbies. I write (mostly poetry I don’t have my site for that completely up and running yet), read (mostly fantasy and SF), Role Play (I have a little knowledge about a lot of species such as Faeries, Vampires, Werewolves, Elves, Mages and Neir (a form of shadow demon)

Go on ask me something I’ll do my best to reply clearly.

I used to have hobbies.
Then I found the SDMB.

My biggest hobby is probably cycling. Other than that, I’m a dabbler: Poetry, physics, philosophy…oh yeah, and camping! I’m an expert camper!

I have a new favorite hobby though…

I make envelopes. I use either paper I buy from a paper store or I cut out magazine pages with cool-looking colors or graphics on them. They are much more interesting than plain old white envelopes.

I also spend a lot of time on the decorative arts - furniture design and refinishing, lampshade design, etc.

Oh, and gardening - I especially love all varieties of geraniums.

I don’t profess to be knowledgeable about anything. I just talk about what I think I understand/know about what I dabble in, seriously or otherwise.

Having said that:

I draw, very amateurishly.

I sing. Mostly to myself in the shower, but I’m good at making up words to tunes.

I collect languages.

I involve myself in leftist politics. (More a lifestyle choice than a hobby, but there you are.)

I play the violin, also amateurishly but I have fun.

I come here almost too often and throw in my $.02 where I feel I have enough basis to speak.

Gardening, sewing, reading, crafts, computer self educating!

I bitch about all kinds of stuff that no one else but me sees the importance in.

I plan all kinds of home improvement/pseudo-Martha Stewartish activities and then realize I have neither the funds, the time nor the motivation to actually carry through.

My life is only interesting to me.

This is my hobby: http://pw1.netcom.com/~heliboy/n61413crop.jpg

And this is another: http://pw1.netcom.com/~heliboy/eclair.jpg

Excellent!

Now I know where all of you stand…

I will exploit your knowledge whenever I can…

So…

Anyone up for a B-B-Q this weekend?

lets see hobbies…

I juggle(can almost do four)
I make chainmail(which fits in with my medievil reinactment hobby)
I’m learning to unicycle
I write poetry
and I’m sure theres more but thats all I can think of

I have a new hobby every few days. This week it’s SDMB. My wife asked me to drop my airplane hobby (model and history) cuz it reminds her too much of her dead/hated father. So I’m at loose ends.

When I’m not hiding here I’m out buiding the garden. It’s her hobby, not mine (by any stretch of the imagination), but she just plans. I do the work.

Guns, porn, church ice cream socials, bashing liberals & hiking

I do magic, mostly with cards. (I don’t like the term “magician”, and “illusionist” is just pretentious, so I prefer Penn and Teller’s term, “rip-off artiste”.) I like it because it stands in stark contrast to medicine–that is, it is wholly unimportant.

I’m planning to spend this summer, after my test, working up several card bits and my cup and ball routine, and maybe doing some street performing.

I also like to sing and play guitar, but mostly when I’m drunk.

Dr. J

I also write (sometimes), draw, and act.

Lately I’ve been doing 3D graphics, which I shall post onto a website one day.

I write an 800-word humorous essay just about every week. Some weeks I’m too busy or too lazy to do it, but my track record is pretty good.

Anyone who wants to be on my list to receive them, just e-mail me. Make sure you make the subject line “Re: Ravings From Dave” or I probably won’t open it. I’m very nervous about computer viruses and won’t open e-mail from people I don’t know. Just so you know, comments and critiques on my columns are welcome. I may not write back, except to say thanks, but I will read them.

OK, shameless self-promotion has concluded.

Football (the round ball version) - watching and playing
Fencing - epee and foil
Diving - well, it’s been a while, but I’d like to start again
British indie music from the early to late '90s
Reading
Aimlessly tinkering with website design

One of these guys that’s in a fantasy league (or more than one) for all four of the major sports–8 fantasy baseball teams, 3 fantasy hockey teams, a couple football and basketball teams.

Play softball for our firm team, but am no damn good.

Follow UCLA basketball (men’s and women’s) and football.

Read a lot–mostly SDMB lately, but I’m also fond of history (Wars of The Roses, Early Plantagent History–Henry II–because of the greatest movie ever made, The Lion In Winter, also Ancient Roman History–because of a previous job. Have read a bit of some other periods–Nicholas II of Russia, Frederick the Great, WWII, Civil War).

Don’t read as much Shakespeare as you might think when reading some of my other posts (if ANYONE is reading them), but know a little bit about it.

I’m a toy collector (read: I play with toys) with a concentration on Transformers. I’m a comic book collector (read: I read comic books). I play RPGs, both table top and live action. Currently, I’m running a Marvel Super-Heroes game, and I’m playing in Amber Diceless RPG, Trinity, Aberrant, and AD&D tabletop, and Vampire and Werewolf live action. I also write occasionally. I studied martial arts until my joints went bad.
