Android phone question

My wife has an iPhone. Let’s say that, overnight, she gets a phone call and three texts. In the morning, when she turns on her screen, right there immediately, there is a display of who called, who texted, and the first 15 or so words of each text, on the “slide to unlock” screen. This appears to be the default.

I have a Droid X. Does anyone know of an app (or system function) to allow me to have the same feature? Currently, my unlock screen shows the date and time, and an indicator that I recieved a call and three texts, but not who, or what was texted.

Thanks,

Joe

Check out Executive Assistant, or WidgetLocker plus Pure Messenger.

Thakns, I’ll check those out when have a chance. All the promising options on the Android market seemed to have horrible reviews…

On an Android Phone, You can set up to do these function using Google Voice. You can just look at you voicemail and text in your gmail.

Click on mobile apps. The transcription function isn’t perfect, but good enough to usually figure out the message and you can just click to listen to it.

You transfer your existing number to google and get a new number from your carrier and use the new number as your forwarding number. This is nice if you are overseas or you lose your phone, because you can check you email from anywhere in the world where you can access your gmail.

I actually like taking and making calls from my computer, since people say the sound quality is better.
