Angel April 22 (spoilers)

I assumed that the mob wasn’t just “beating up” Cumquat (or whatever his name was), but was tearing him into iddy biddy pieces.

The question of whether the death of the demon would null a soul-selling contract is one that the Supreme Court has not taken up. Most contracts contain provisions in case one side or the other defaults, so we have to presume that Gunn’s contract said something about only being dissolved upon death of the demon.

But, my esteemed Mr. Dexter Haven, as anyone who has experience in killing off creatures with extreme regenerative abilities (trolls, for instance) knows, tearing them into bitty pieces will simply get you more of them.

Of course, if Wes were around, he’d have been able to tell the gang what would kill this particular type of demon, but he’s off being dismal.

Of course, he also has the “well, I have to recuperate from having my throat slit” and the “jeez, I’d love to help, but if I show my face, Angel will kill me” to deal with.

Gorgon Heap, yah, Cordy’s being very The Voice of Reason. It’s a bit annoying, but I think her relationship with Groo puts her firmly back in the “22-y.o. self-centered” camp. Angel’s her soulmate, but she can get puddy from Groo.

“Nobody can sulk like a vampyre.” Very good!

What’s wrong with the Supreme Court lately. They’d better get cracking and rule on some of these important issues!

My theory re Wesley is that after a brief sulking period, he’ll plunge into an obsessive research marathon, looking for a way to retrieve Conner.

Aided by Justine, natch.

Even if Wesley rescues Connor on his own, I don’t see Angel forgiving him. For one thing, Connor’s gonna be full-grown when he gets back (Obvious from the show, but also, in my channel-flipping the other day, I saw David Boreanaz on TRL (I’m so ashamed) and he pretty much let the cat out of the bag on that one), and for another, Angel will never be able to trust Wesley again. That’s why I’m at a loss as to how Wes will get back with the gang. It’d take something drastic, like stankow’s presumed joke, for Angel to be cool with Wesley again.

Well, all that being said, I figured with all the assorted demonkind that was present in the casino at the time, one of them knew how to permanently disable whatever kind of soul-sucking demon that guy was.

My 2p, anyway…

Just what is up with Cordy’s hair? As if its not bad enough that she changes it like every week. Now she has to dye it blonde and cut it short like a tomboy. Leave it alone and let it grow some!!

Because women can’t be attractive with short hair, of course.

Luna, they can, but her hair is hideous like that!

OK, so I’m a Buffy fan who’s been trying to get into Angel the past couple episodes. Now, I’m getting that Wes somehow kidnapped Connor because of some false prophecy, but I missed the ep. where it actually happened. Would someone care to fill me in on

–Why Wes took Connor and how?
–Where he took him?
–Why was there a false prophecy in the first place?

Any illumination would be much appreciated. And as to Cordy’s hair–Bleeeaach! She looks like a forty-year old librarian with 3.2 kids. Poor thing.

bella

My rationalizing about about Cordy’s terrible new hair-do is that it must be part of her becoming a demon.

–Why Wes took Connor and how?

Because the false prophecy said that the father (Angel) would kill the son (Connor). Wes took Connor to prevent that.

–Where he took him?

Wes took Connor to Holtz, Angel’s sworn enemy, so that Holtz could hide Connor from Angel.

–Why was there a false prophecy in the first place?

Sanjhan, a time-shifting demon, altered the prophecy to make it read that Angel would kill Connor. Sanjhan did this because there was a real prophecy that Connor would kill Sanjhan.

Sua

There was a prophecy on a very important scroll saying that the spawn of the vampire with a soul would kill Sajhan, a dimension shifting demon of some ill repute. Sajhan proceeded to wander through time, changing the scroll and transporting Holtz, someone Angel and Darla tortured horrendously in the 17th century to the present time. Holtz wants to hurt Angelus as much as Angelus hurt him. Sajhan needs Holtz because he is non-corperal and cannot affect things.

Wes decyphers the (changed) prophecy which now reads that Angel will kill Conner and he believes it. While he doesn’t trust Holtz, he talks with him to see if there’s a way to ally. Finally, Wes decides to take Conner and just go away with him, keeping him from Angel and Holtz alike.

Holtz figures this out and his female assistant slits Wes’ throat, takes Conner, and delivers the baby to Holtz. Wolfram and Hart track down Holtz with Angel in tow, and there’s a big standoff. Angel and W&H want Conner alive, Holtz does too for his own reasons (to further torture Angelus). Sajhan shows up and wants the baby dead. He creates a rift to a hellish dimension with no way back and Holtz jumps through, taking Conner with him, much to Shajan’s surprise.

That’s the thumbnail version. Hope it helps.

And I think Cordy still looks hot.

I thought Wes wasn’t going to bring Conner to Holtz, he was going to raise him himself. If the female vamp killer wasn’t all beaten up by Holtz he never would have allowed her close enough to slit his throat. I think Wes decided he couldn’t trust Holtz, Holtz knew this and used the female vamp killer (what is her name?!) to get close enough to steal Conner.

“Why Wes took Connor and how?”

Why? Because he read a prophecy in an ancient text that Angel was going to kill Connor, and it was confirmed by a demon that took the form of a fast food order-taking-box. (Really, on that last part!)

How? By simply walking off with him.

“Where he took him?”

IIRC, Wes was just going to take him AWAY, anywhere else other than where Angel is. Holtz, a vampire hunter from Angel’s past out to take revenge on Angel(us) for killing his family, was going to take Connor somewhere and raise him as his own son. Wolfram & Hart wanted Connor alive for their own reasons. But at the big Angel-W&H-Holtz standoff, Sahjahn (a demon able to manipulate time and dimensions) appeared and threw Holtz into a hell dimension as Holtz was holding Connor. This was because everyone else wanted Connor alive (for good or bad reasons) while Sahjahn wanted Connor dead or otherwise totally out of the way (see below).

“Why was there a false prophecy in the first place?”

It was put there by Sahjahn (who can time-travel, remember) who wanted Connor dead because of a REAL prophecy that Connor (or Angel’s kid, to be more general) would kill Sahjahn.

You guys rock. Now I won’t be watching going
“…but what the hell?
…now how’d that work?
…WHAT!?”
and so on. Thanks bunches.

Angel has said repeatedly that he’s happy knowing that should he go evil again, Gunn or Wes will stake him without hesitation.

But when Wes, due to ancient prophecies and possessed drive-thru speakers, kidnaps Connor to prevent Angel from killing him-Angel gets mad.

What in the (&^^% is Angel thinking?
“You bastard! You were willing to do whatever was necessary to save Connor’s life! I’ll never forgive you for that! How dare you try to save my son’s life at the risk of you own!”
I would expect some anger, But shouldn’t Angel be more angry with Sajahn?

BTW-When exactly did “moment of complete happiness” come to mean sex and only sex? When I heard the prophecy (The father will kill the son) I assumed that Angel would be lookimg at his son and experience a moment of happiness. This would make him Angelus. Angelus, hating the good Angel, would kill Connor.
Alright, the prophecy was false but still- If the only way the Angel can be truly happy is sex, he should get a therapist.

It’s been argued here on the boards that, now that Angel knows about the “moment of true happiness” clause, it will taint any future happiness, preventing the sort of perfect contentment and bliss he got by boinking Buffy. Sounds good to me.

DocCathode, I think the reason Angel’s so pissed at Wesley is the same reason Fred should be pissed off at Gunn – Wesley should have just told Angel what the prophecy said. Imagine this happening:
WES: Angel, take a look at this prophecy.
ANGEL: Damn. This is bad. We should take steps to prevent it.
WES: Maybe I should sell you out to your sworn enemy.
ANGEL: Hm. No, that’s no good. How about you just watch me and make sure I don’t kill him?
WES: Ooh, good plan.

But that’s not what Wes did. His plan was ‘take baby, run far away’. He never planned to give Connor to Holz. He was tricked by Whatsername, who Wes had been trying to save from Holz. She got Wes to let his guard down, slit his throat and took the baby. This falls under the category of really screwing up, not selling-out-to-sworn-enemy.
As for telling Angel, since the prophecy says that he’s a threat, you don’t want him to know your plans. Presumably, he would have to become Angelus to kill Connor. Even keeping the details secret, Angelus would know that precautions had been taken and take precautions of his own. Wes should have confided in Gunn, Fred, Cord, and Lorn though.
