I don’t know about COrdy, but I’d love to se BBFD bend Connor over. Man, I hate that kid.
They have these things called “laws.” One of them, in California, says that if a 22-year-old woman has sex with a 16-17 year old boy, that’s statutory rape.
And again. He’s 18. She’s 21.
And again. He was 16 four months ago.
Well, yessee, where I come from the age of sexual consent is 14 or thereabouts. Not that many people in their 20s have sex with teens, but I assume it happens.
And besides-- statutory rape is silly-- especially in this case (even if he was 16 last year…)
Um, the kid grew up in weird demon dimension. There’s probably no actual certainty about just how old he is. So unless Holtz had a calendar watch and did some fancy “one year in hell is like 2.45 weeks on Earth” calculation (even assuming that the conversion rate is constant), then Conner’s age is just a guess. Maybe last season they were guessing 16 and decided to up the estimate a bit.
And who the hell is going to prosecute Cordelia for statutory rape? The kid was born in an alley when his vampire mother turned to dust. You think he has a birth certificate?
IMO, deliberate mention was made in the episode of Connor’s age–18–so debates over statuatory rape wouldn’t be happening. Sure, it could be classified as a continuity breakdown, but can we just go with it already?
Actually, I think he does.
IIRC while Angel ran with the bomb in a blanket, Cordy, Gunn, and Fred took Connor to the hospital. They gave his last name as Angel. The doctor is asking for a first name to put on the birth certificate when Angel walks in and says “Connor. His name is Connor.”
If that's right then-
Legally Connor is about a year old. Which means that Cordy could be found guily of all kinds of things. It also means Connor will have massive problems attempting to get a license, see R rated movies, and has a much longer wait before he can buy beer.
There should be a firm rule against having sex with anyone whose diaper you have changed. Cordy and Conner is enough to throw someone off sex for a while. The least “sexy” sex scene I have seen since Deliverance.
OK, now
Rumor has it that a recently re-ensouled peroxide blonde vampire is scheduled to go missing for a few episodes of the other Buffyverse show, sooooo…
Maybe the PTB could arrange for Spike to be the father of Cordelia’s baby? I mean, hell, if Angel could do it with another vampire, why not a vampire with a soul and a human woman? Could potentially damage the Spuffy future I crave, but if y’all think it would be less idky than Conor being the father…
Spody? Hmmm… Better than Conner/Cordy but not as good as Spiles.
I shudder at the thought of Spike fathering a child on Giles. I mean, yeah, with all the mojo being worked in the Buffyverse, I guess it could happen, but, eeeewwwww.
I think somebody needs to lay off the slash for a while.
(I won’t name any names, but I’ll call her Spordelia-- a bit of foreshadowing, maybe?)
I think Spike being the daddy of Cordy’s kid could potentially even be done without technically violating the no crossover rule- just sort of imply his presence in L.A., imply that Cordy saw him, and that he saw her, and that they, um, saw each other, without actually showing the Peroxided One on-screen. I’m sure the writers at ME could pull it off.
I was just curious if there are going to call the baddie in Angel this season at any point, “From beneath you, it devours.” It’s seems like they’ve been hedging around this big bad being very similar.
And Finally, a demon hunt with firepower. I liked the twin .45’s and the shotgun. It made sense. I’m not a big fan of guns myself, but if I was seeing giant demons week in, week out, I’d start packing just as a back-up.
I was thinking the same thing during the whole episode. It seemed like they were trying to connect the BB to what’s going on in Buffy without actually coming out and stating a connection.
This page keeps a fairly up-to-date list on the upcoming episodes for most of the Sc-Fi and fantasy series, including some animated shows. I keep it bookmarked as a reference.
My take on what’s up - Connor fathers Cordy’s baby then sacrifices himself to kill the big bad. Cordy and Angel get together after Angel gets over Cordy having his grandson, and they have a kid together who is Angel’s grandson’s brother and uncle. Hee.
And then he has a daughter who marries the Master, who has somehow been mojoed back from the beyond, thus becoming her own great-great grandmother.
Hey you two, this show is set in L.A. not Georgia.
“Angel” set in Georgia - cool! Every time I think of Connor fathering Cordy’s baby then Cordy and Angel dating, I keep hearing the song “I’m My Own Grandpa” in my head.
I don’t really see them as similiar.
Angel Big Bad-
Just got to this plane of existence recently.
It may have arrived as a result of events caused by the protagonists (did Connor’s birth cause this thing? His return from Quartoth? Cordy’s return from beyond?).
Or certain things may have happened to the protagonists in order to create opposition to the Big Bad(was Connor born specifically to fight it? Was Cordy sent back to fight it? ).
So far, BB has had a discrete physical form and discrete physical powers.
Buffy From UnderNeath It Eats-
I’ve gotten the feeling FUNIE has been around a very long time. Remember that Faith once said that the Mayor created Sunnydale in order to feed the hellmouth. And the stone pentacle seems to have been made a long time ago. It isn’t that FUNIE just got here. It’s just that its finally gotten enough power to act.
Willow’s dark side spree likely fed it. But none of the characters had a hand in creating it.
Buffy was sent to Sunnydale due, at least indirectly, to the hellmouth. But she was sent to fight the symptoms. IMHO FUNIE is the cause. It is the evil spirit of Sunnydale itself. Think of the hotel in The Shining.
FUNIE has appeared in several places at once(Conversations With The Dead). It has no set appearance. It can be visible and audible to only one person. Its powers are undefined. But it clearly has many abilites that affect people mentally.
Yeah, well, no one ever kicked down Angel’s door and dragged him away for boffing Buffy. And in that case, we at least know for a fact that Buffy was underaged. Connor, let us not forget, was not only raised in a demon dimension where time flows at a different rate than here on Earth, he is also NOT HUMAN. He has a heartbeat, and apparently a soul, but he can also catch a hurled battleax with one hand from across the street, leap single story buildings in a single bound, and beat seven kinds of shit out of virtually everyone on the show except Angel himself. I say, anyone who can do the trick with the battleax is old enough to have sex. At least, I’m certainly not going to tell him he can’t.
