By those standards Buffy, Faith, and Kendra aren’t human either. Remember that Connor was raised by a warrior and vampire hunter. He’s been training his entire life. Plus, life in Quartoth would give him ample opportunities to fight.
I'd say that at this time, there is no definitive evidence what Connor is.
I dunno about the BB being different. Who’s to say that the Horned thing isn’t an agent of the From beneath you it devours BB in Sunnydale. It can’t be coincidence that both of the shows are going on and on about this evil that is clawing it’s way to the surface.
And I don’t think it’s Sunnydale, because Willow could feel the evil in the earth while in England, which leads me to believe it’s more of a global evil, than a SoCal centric one.
[spoiler] Question: With both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel slouching toward an apocalyptic showdown, any chance the Angel Investigations crew will team up with the Scoobies for the final battle? It seems odd for there to be no acknowlegement in Sunnydale of the rain of fire and brimstone in L.A., or for Angel and the gang not to check in with the Scoobs regarding whatever’s devouring them from beneath. — Sean
Matt: I’ve been asked a lot lately about the concurrent end-of-the-world scenarios on both shows, and while it seems odd that a Los Angeles firestorm wouldn’t attract notice in Sunnydale, even while they’re wondering what’s coming from below, it looks like the two storylines are (for now) parallel, not connected. As far as I know, there are still no plans for crossovers between the shows. The only character who’ll appear in both worlds seems to be Faith (Eliza Dushku), who I’ve been told will first spend some time on Angel, then head over to Buffy. Can’t wait.
Yeah, that’s how I get to watch 'em too. Except I have to say DAMN it’s hard not to spoil Angel with all the posts here on the SDMB for two whole days ahead of time!!!
Which is another reason that, plot and characterwise, the no crossover rule is silly. If the shows could cross over, all they’d have to do to find out if Connor was human or not would be to have Spike clock him a good one and see if it gives him a headache.
Nuh uh If you look at the air dates, there’s always been a December episode of Angel. http://www.tvtome.com/Angel/eplist.html If history repeats itself, there should be an episode on December 14th or 21st.
Yes, I agree: they aren’t human. Not quite. That’s why in one of these Buffyverse threads (Can’t remember which one, possibly the one we’re in right now) I defended Buffy knifing Faith as part of her Slayer duty: removing supernatural threats to mankind.
And Connor has a lot more going for him than just training. He’s got genuine super powers. Among them, apparently, is an immunity to slo-mo. When the action slows down for everyone else, he still moves at full speed. That’s why he can catch a thrown ax when he starts off standing entirely off-screen. I don’t care how much practice you get as a demon slayer, that’s not something you can train yourself to do: that requires the intervention of some sort of major mojo, such as being called as a Slayer or turned into a vampire. In fact, Connor seems to have all the vampire powers: he can move super fast, jump super high, and has supernatural strength. Maybe he’s some sort of living, soulled vampire.
And, since Connor has become the target of Buffyphile since Dawn stopped shrieking her fool head off in every episode, I’m going to make like erislover and stand up for the juniormost cast member. I like Connor. I think he’s an interesting character. I think the ambiguities in his relationship with Angel are fascinating. They aren’t doing a whole lot with Connor right now, but I think that’s partially because they’re moving all the other characters into position for some major Connor-centric plot developments.
I’ll also say that I’m not particularly grossed out by him bagging Cordelia. In fact, I’m glad they slept together. Go Connor!
Angel’s coming to DVD in February. Why haven’t I heard this before now? I won’t buy it since I didn’t really like the first season, but people should know!
