Angelic Voices - a Sunday Evening MMP

Woooo!!!

I am pleased

Yay, picunurse!

The higher up came back to me, pissed at the police dept, with instructions as to what to do if they don’t cooperate next week. I want to be clear here: both my firm and the client have been fine and cooperative, it’s the frickin’ *police department * asking me to do something illegal. And really, if I were to deliberately break the law and risk jail time, I’d pick something more fun than Civil Code Section 1185. :stuck_out_tongue:

Today was payday, so I paid my tithes at Target and Barnes & Noble. I came home with a bag of cat food, 2 CDs, a birthday card, too many books (including one Amazon said wouldn’t ship until December), a DVD, a laptop backpack, a gigantic bag of yarn for the Red Scarf Project, and a knitting magazine. I swear, all I went out for was a bag of cat food and a birthday card.

Yay, picu!

maternal feline type person -tis easy to break your coccyx giving birth. This is probably TMI, but when the baby is 10lbs, 4oz and 22 inches long, something’s gotta give…That would be #1 son. He is now 6 ft*, and 14 years old.

I am off to work. yippee. Feel a cold coming on, which is not good, given the work facing me next week. I miss #2 son’s soccer games for the next 3 Saturdays. :frowning:

*ok, 5’11". Let a mother brag.

We’ve been leaving our windows open at night and it’s lovely and brisk in the morning, but it’s not blowing out of the vents, costing me $$$$$!! I know the guy needed to test it all out, but doggone, when you’re done testing, turn the thing OFF!! sheesh…

Actually, forecasters were threatening us with 87 degrees today, so we may use the air yet… And good luck with your tit-squishin’. The discomfort doesn’t last long, but the peace of mind does.

Well, then *he’s * the one who’s wrong wrong wrong!! And you can tell him I said so!

YAAAAAAY, picu!!!

And now, off to play in clay! Mama Tiger, I’ll wave as I pass your vicinity!

Time to Swiffer the floors and do some laundry, then to work. It’s supposed to be hot this weekend, I may need AC for the critters.

doggio your cat pic in the other thread is skeeeery. I would be in constant fear.

Forgot to tell rigs: about your project partner… When I was an exchange student in grad school in Germany, one of the other Americans really got on my nerves initially. We would up being roommates on the first field trips and she about drove me nuts. I don’t even remember what was annoying about her. We kept running into each other in classes and other activities and eventually I was able to tolerate her and even shared a room with her on a different field trip and survived just fine. So maybe there’s hope (although she does sound particularly annoying).

Yay for the new AC, FCM. I was thrilled to have my new furnace/AC last year.

Meant to ask this earlier, Jahdra. How exactly does the police department get off asking you to do something illegal, Jahdra? Are they trying to get out of extra work? Sounded very bizarre.

I’m up and considering what to do on a rainy Saturday. Need to send a package to Far-Away Best Friend. Need to do laundry. I’m considering working on the kitchen floor. I’ll be painting it to remove the early '70s uglies. I’ve done that in the bathroom and really like how it worked out. (It’s been 6 years and it’s still fine…) Biggest issue is that it takes more than a week to finish off because you have to leave the original paint enough time to dry properly and then the polyurethane needs 72 hours to cure. I’m also cleaning out cupboards in the kitchen; guess I should do that first.

Hmmm…guess I’ll start with a bit of laundry and general clean-up.

GT

Good morning everyone.

picu, that is really good news. I’m so glad.

It’s most definitely fall here. Cool and wet. They say temps are supposed to reach mid 60s today and it’s not supposed to rain.

No big plans for today. Well, other than the boob smooshing thing. Mr. Taters is picking up his nephew and taking him down to DOL so he can take his HAZMAT test. After that, they’re going to visit MIL for a bit.

I’ll be downtown, so I won’t be doing any visiting. I need to buy a few vittles, but that’s about it.

I haven’t figured out what I’m making for dinner tonight. Something simple, maybe some sort of comfort food.

Off to cruise the Dope for a bit.

Hallo, Bumba! Good to see you. Now where the heck are Ex, Rue, and welby?

((((TatersFamily)))).
We went out to the museum and dinner, and then came home to find Driving Husband playing WoW on our computers. A romantic family evening.

picu - excllent news!

More excellent news, Baby Maddie, the Official Infant Mascot, came through her surgery in great shape. There was a cystic mass on her lung and the doc thought they might have to take part of the lung, but they were able to only clear off the mass.

She comes home Monday.

Last night went to the last Sox game I’ll catch this season. In the parking lot as we drove in, there was a flock of seagulls. I honked (I’m doing about 30). They all flew but one. I got feathers in my license plate holder today. The lady in the car behind me got mad at me, but hey, it was me or him, ya’ know?

I think it was the drummer.

What?
Don’t look at me like that, I HONKED, they al flew but one.

Still I’m going to watch for hostile flocks of birds following me around for some time.

Whew! That was some Friday night. It started with the Physics Dept Fall Gathering, and then I went with some of the older grad students down to the Canoe Club, a local bar, and then to the house of one of them where I tried my first car bomb. Okay, so I didn’t manage to finish it. Next time (though I’m not making any plans). It was good times. Especially sleeping in today.

And now I’m off to eat something, and then I’m going to get to work. I need to get the Math Methods homework out of the way so I have the rest of the week to work on the Mechanics homework. Yippee!

In other news, I finally beat this online game I’ve been playing. It’s called Project Monochrome, and it’s a space shooter game, but it has 70 levels, all different kinds of baddies and bosses, and dozens of weapons to buy. It’s a fantastic game, and I was thoroughly hooked on it. Last night I finally beat the End Boss Guy, and it was very cool. Now I can play it again on the next difficulty level!

YAY for picu and Baby Maddie!! throws confetti

Wow, they’re teaching students how to make car bombs these days? Man, times have changed!

Yay for picunurse and baby Maddie, the Official Infant Mascot!!

I’m sitting here allegedly working. Other than that, I got nuttin’ today.

Great news, picu! Yay!

It’s yucky here today - drizzly and raw, not too cold, but definitely a stay-inside-and-cuddle-the-kittycat kind of day

Cheers for baby Maddie!

Woo-hoo Maddie and picu!
Mr. Lissar has gotten the farm pics up. Here’s Mr. Lissar and Quasi-Daughter doing tai chi. QD is wearing my red Punjabi suit. QD in her natural habitat, tidying things. Driving Husband looking tough. Me standing around, with DH throwing knives and a shirtless Attacks Husband chopping wood. Man With Axe. QD wanting me to put the damn camera away. Mr. Lissar with guitar.
I should make some lunch.

Gah, lissla, you all look so young!

Get off my lawn!

Hey, I’m having an allergy attack and have no driver’s license. Of course I’m grumpy!

Nice pics Lissa.

Additionally, I’m glad things turned out well for baby Maddie. I really meant to address that further upthread, but was talking at the same I was posting. Obviously, my multi-tasking skills are sliding.

I’m all showered up and just need to dry my hair for my appointment. I actually had to shower twice, because out of habit, I used lotion and anti-perspirant. I was told I couldn’t do that, so back in the shower I went to wash it off. Now, I just need to remember to not spritz myself with a little perfume. I usually do that as I’m walking out my door.

I really wish I could just stay home, fluff some pillows up on my bed, and read a good thick bed. It just feels like it should be one of those type of days. Maybe another day…

Off to do a couple things then dry my hair.

Thanks. I turn 28 in two weeks, Driving Husband and Quasi-Daughter are 24 (she’s almost 25), and Mr. Lissar and Attacks Husband are 26. I stopped being carded at the LCBO a few years ago. A liquor store employee told me it was because they’re good at eyeballing people for age by style of dress- I don’t sport the ‘young beach babe/skater’ look, so I must be over 19.

Still get carded at clubs, though.

Good to hear that Mr. SCL is itch free, did you ever find out what it was? Also, now that I am sorta caught up with all of li-li’s husbands, perhaps you would be kind enough to 'splain the hockey thing. It doesn’t sound like school age kids, and you seem to be importing the team from Canada, not to mention Queen Beyotch in the Booster Club…I am corn-fused!

Yay picu for the good news, and I hope that it maintains it’s non-scary status.

And Taters I feel for you. I have been in the room when they have had to remove gunk from my sil’s lungs…prayers and good thoughts for your mil. And empathy on the boob smashing, it’s amazing how the girls can pop back into their normal shape after being sqeezed and flattened and all that lovely stuff! And congratulations on being a Great-Aunt again!

I bet once you get the hang of driving tel you are gonna love it. I miss having enough road to go on a decent road trip. We have enough pavement to spend maybe 20 minutes cruising, then it’s all washboard/pot holed gravel, not nice to ride on!

whoa rigs you beat me! My kids were all 22 inches long with 14 inch heads, but the largest was only 9 lbs 8 oz! I didn’t break anything, but she was the only baby I had to deliver in the delivery room, flat on my back with my legs strapped in, fricken uncomfortable as hell! The doc thought he was gonna have to pull her out, but no, once again the kegals came to the rescue!

Also yay for Maddie, MBG, lots of prayers in her direction as well.

Now that I know you have apple trees along with peh/CAHN trees, bobbio, feel free to send me a bushel or two! I’ll be checking my cd drive for them!

I haven’t looked at your pictures yet li-li but my oldest is 24, so you are all young 'un’s to me! You can play on my lawn, but you may only look and sniff the flowers, no picking them, or I breaky your fingers! (It’s what I tell all the kidlets in the neighborhood!)

Hey all! It’s Saturday morning, which would have been a good thing except skiffman closed the window all the way so Kazzpurr couldn’t get in. He was meowing, which was waking me up, but then the poms heard him and got all excited, and Fawn jumped on and off my head three times, so I gave skiffman a shove and told him to open the damn window, and that if I had to be up so did he. He tried to be all grouchy, but I wasn’t buying it, so he has gone off for coffee for us and doughnuts for him and the kids. I probably wouldn’t have grouched so much, but I been sick sick sick with my sinus abcess, and it’s not smart to mess with me first thing in the morning. Now that I am awake and have taken the proper medication to help drain the sinus and relieve the pain I am looking forward to the day. As usual the sun is shining brightly, but I betcha it will be grey and drizzly before noon.

The reason skiffman closed the window is because he (thinks he) is allergic to fresh air. Well, and it’s getting chilly here, too, but if he had prioritized a couple of chores we would be having our new heater installed this weekend. My contractor friend is coming over later to do some measuring and to talk about plans, and just maybe he will fit in the back deck project. The poms are able to slip through the rails on the deck, take a suicide leap to the ground, and then they are off running. I need to have the deck wired in on the outside, so the poms can’t climb the wire and leap from the top rail, and a gate installed to keep them in. It’s a very small job, and yet I have been griping about it for a year now…grrrrr.

It’s gonna be so cool when we get this bit of remodel done. With the walls removed and the carpet replaced with vinyl (for now, pergo later) I will be able to scoot myself around the house in The Chair of Doom and keep up with the housework better. I keep telling everyone that it’s not nice to put up obstacle courses for the gimpy woman, but I think they like to watch me try to negotiate my way around the house without falling, the wretches. But the trick is really on them, because if I am not feeling stable they have to pick up the housework I can’t get at, ha!

Yesterday I was really not feeling well, this sinus thing is chronic, and it gets so bad that my teeth hurt and the left side of my face swells up. Oh, it’s lovely…not. After much sudafed and benadryl I seem to be winning the drainage issue, I hate going on antibiotics, and avoid it when I can. I am still slightly swollen today, but it’s so much better than yesterday and the day before, so I am a happy camper.

Last night skiffman and the kids wanted McDonalds, which my system rejects totally, so I had sushi. I believe that I got the better part of that deal! It’s pot roast for dinner tonight, it’s easy peasy and I can also get in on the chores…like the never ending laundry pile! I have some new-to-my-collection Johnny Depp DVDs, so I will be watching my Johnny while I fold and match up the socks!

So, another novella from me, I hope you all have a good Saturday!

Soccer today, England against Mexico. England won, 3 to 2.
Okay, it wasn’t World Cup, just rec league. But WE WON! The Littlest BibKitty kid played almost the whole time, had two assists and kicked ass.
He’s quite the athlete.

The Elder BibKitty is out with friends for one last fling before heading off to the wilds of Philly and college. I’m sure she’ll be fine, but I’m still nervous. She’s still my baby.

No idea on what to make for dinner. Not in the mood - so I want something easy.

I’m out the door in 10 minutes.

My SIL just called to say that my hubby and nephew (SIL’s son) had just left to take the HAZTMAT test. Hubby left at friggin’ 8:45 this morning. But, first they had to BS, then they had to have brekkie, then nephew had left his wallet in his semi at work so they had to go get it, and now they’re finally on their way.

It’s a damn good thing hubby didn’t take my vehicle or I would have been screwed. I can drive his truck, but I really hate driving it in downtown Tacoma. The truck is a standard transmission and friggin’ huge. Plus, I have to park in an underground parking garage that is notoriously tight.

If I don’t get back before the end of the day, have a good day y’all.
