Ann Coulter and Whittaker Chambers

Coulter does seem to be burning through her shock value rather quickly of late. Pretty soon she’ll have to come out topless and bite the head off a live liberal on the set to get any attention.

Does ANYONE actually take Coulter seriously? Besides Free Republic, that is.

Oh my God! She killed Kenny!
The Bitch!

Although I’m now having a wonderful parody of “Kyle’s Mom’s a Bitch” going through my head…

“Ohhhhh…
Coulter’s a bitch,
she’s a skinny little bitch,
she’s the biggest bitch in the right-wing world…”

I challenge you to find something Michael Moore has said or written that’s half as insane as Coulter’s latest train wreck. Yeah, Moore leans hard left at times, but Ann’s fallen completely off the scale.

Mike Moore is alleged to have said that 9/11 would not have occured if there had been more black men aboard the hijacked planes as they wouldnt have been ‘scaredy cats’ like the white passengers. That seems to me Coulteresque in its stupidity and I hope they never mate as it wouldnt be fair on the children. I consider him Exhibit A that while the correlation between rightwing views and knuckle-dragging stupidity is high, the left is not free of it.

Alleged by whom?

I would find this prima facie evidence that Moore is stupider than I currently view him, but I have never encountered this, so Coulter retains her crown for absolute, blindingly partisan stupidity until some evidence shows up on Moore.

Tom: In this interview, he says something very much like Eolbo said. I, too, want to say that I read an interview in which Moore made those remarks, but I have been unable to find it on the 'Net.

I first read it in the Age, which is one of the big Melbourne papers but have seen the allegation elsewhere such as here and it seems to be carried by many rightwing sites

Ultimate source is attributed to a column in ‘The Independent’ which I wasnt able to find in quick search just now.

Moore was making a statement about social class not race. He may even have a point.

Although identified as satire, it’s alleged here.

Although I’m still uncertain how I feel – we’re basically comparing:

a) calling your group cowards, (and then saying it’s an awareness-enhancing joke) [Moore]

 with

b) calling your group traitors and asserting it’s God’s truth (while probably thinking it’s an awareness-enhancing joke) – implying you can’t take a joke. [Coulter]

(Both while pushing a wheelbarrow to the bank).

There is another difference as well. Idiot that he may be I think Moore’s heart is in the right place whereas Coulter doesnt have one and is just a mean rabid bitch.

Eolbo, you may be right about Moore’s heart, but I’m not sure he’s any less rabid about the right than Coulter is about the left.

When has Coulter ever said anything funny?

Every time she opens her mouth?

Well, THIS card carrying lefty pinko commie thinks that Moore is a jackass. BUT, I would hesitate to consider Newsmax a reliable source.

Amazon’s got her at #2 behind Harry Potter. Any volunteers?

Somehow this post, Shodan, explains much of your political thought posted here. Your understanding is based of misinformation.

The “at long last, Senator, at long last have you have no shame,” line was from the mouth of an elderly Boston lawyer who was representing the Army in the McCarthy-Army hearings in, I think, 1954 or 1956. The proceeding were televised and had a huge audience. It was McCarthy’s claim that the Defense department was crawling with Communists and Soviet agents. As I recall about the only information he ever came up with to support his claim was that some drafted dentist who had belonged to a “communist front” organization in college had received a routine one grade promotion from Captain to Major on discharge. In the middle of the hearings, which were not going well for Tail Gunner Joe, McCarthy decided to go after the law firm that was representing the Army by claiming that the law firm was crawling with Pinko Fellow Travelers because on of the young lawyers in the firm had belonged to a communist front organization.

The lawyer, whose name was Welch, proceeded to expose before the whole nation the extent of Senator McCarthy’s ruthlessness, recklessness and dishonesty. It was a turning point more important than the Edward R. Murrow broadcast and probably weakened McCarthy sufficiently that President Eisenhower thought it politically safe to take him on.

The whole thing was enough to give my father, a strong McCarthy supporter who say a Commie lurking behind every tree, a bad case of the jitters.

  1. In more detail, here’s what happened. Two staffers of Sen. McCarthy, Roy Cohn and Joseph Schine, had gone to Europe to investigate Radio Free Europe and US funded libraries for communist books, I believe. In the middle of the trip, Schine got his draft notice, and Cohn started pestering the army to give Schine a deferrment. This, of course, got the army’s back up, and they resisted. McCarthy then started investigating the army. Finally, after he and the Army had been shouting at each other for a while, both sides agreed to hearings to sort out exactly who did what.

Now, during the hearings, it had come to McCarthy’s attention that one of Welch’s associates had been a member of a Communist front group during the 40’s.

When Welch (the army’s lawyer) was questioning Roy Cohn, he was pretty hard on him, and ended the questioning by making a pretty thinly veiled reference to Cohn’s sexuality. This upset McCarthy, who thought that he and Welch had an understanding…Welch doesn’t mention Cohn’s homosexuality, and McCarthy doesn’t mention Welch’s associate’s communist ties. So, McCarthy brought it up, and Welch made his famous answer.
