Ann Coulter on Herman Cain: "Our Blacks Are So Much Better Than Their Blacks"

Who else would you conflate her with? She is a Republican spokeswoman, gets lots of time on Fox and other conservative circles. She is not around the limelight because of Dems laughing at her. She is there because the Repubs put her on Tv so damn often and talk to her like she has relevant things to say. She is a pundit in Foxland.

Where did I say “conservatives who like Cain are racist”, please ? Because I’m pretty sure all I said was that there wasn’t a necessary contradiction between being a race-baiting ass and supporting a black politician. This lack of contradiction does not mean one necessary implies the other. This is basic Venn diagram stuff, young man. Kind of like I could say that you demonstrate that there is no inherent contradiction between being a tax attorney and thinking that flinging one’s own feces is a form of self-expression, and it wouldn’t mean all tax attorneys are drooling, shit-flinging troglodytes, yes ?

Sure, I may scream that when grabbing MY toy fire truck. Problem is that you scream that when grabbing other people’s toy fire trucks.

Look, the thing is that if you think a person is a racist (ie, one who believes thay people of another race are inherently and irredeemably inferior), and then you see something about them that could be inconsistent with that idea, it seems to me Ýou may want to re-visit that original idea. Instead of doing that, you take it as evidence that not only are they racists but they are even more mentally fucked up besides. Under your approach, Oscar Schindler could have been more of a Nazi than Hitler with addeitional mental problems that made him compulsively help Jews. Most rational people would just say that it appears that OS was not a racist.

“Taxation is theft! Welfare is communism! Government is the problem, not the solution!”

Which perfectly illustrates the particular form of flawed reasoning that radical anti-tax conservatives share with small children. Namely, they unthinkingly embrace the assumption “this is MY property and I don’t have to share any of it with anybody under any circumstances”, completely oblivious to how much their nominal ownership of “their” property depends on other people’s contributions and on fundamentally arbitrary social rules about property.

It’s rather hilarious seeing toddlers who are lucky enough to have been given nice toys screaming with indignation at the idea that they might be expected to share them, “because it’s MINE!!!” Yeah kid, keep on throwing that selfish tantrum and you’ll get to see just how much “yours” that fire truck really is.

Well, I don’t know, my shit-flinging friend. I do tend to think people might be racists who spout out racist shit on a daily basis and unprompted by a fascist state, yes. I can be surprisingly intuitive that way.
When those people who spout racist shit, which for purposes of simplicity and conciseness we shall hereby call “thoroughly repugnant racist shitstains”, also have friends or spouses of the very minorities they spend half their air time ragging on, I get intrigued and ask what the fucking fuck is up with that. And the answer I always get is along the lines of “it’s not the same”.
That’s not a theory I pulled out of the ether. That’s what I heard, in my lifetime, with my ears, quite a few times.

And, you know, is it *really *surprising that thoroughly repugnant racist shitstains would have deficiencies in the consistency or logic departments ? What with the whole being racist thing as a first clue that they’re not all that good with that confusing “thinking” stuff ?

Nope. We’re not oblivious to anything, we just recognize that the idea of property ownership is the best policy for a society despite the fact that some people think it’s “unfair” or failes to promote “social justice” (or whatever other words they want to use to just mean “I don’t like it”). And it turns out that policies for adults in a society can be different than what you teach toddlers to do when playing with each other, and that’s OK (so the consistency of your philosophy with how we raise toddlers is no great boon for your position).

The number one determining factor, statistically, for how wealthy a person will be in America today is how wealthy their parents are/were. Other major factors include their environment, access to education, and who they know. The first three are almost entirely out of their control, the last one is not completely out of their control, but is still heavily influenced by their upbringing. Still not seeing any problem with your system?

There’s your obliviousness right there: you mistakenly imagine that “property ownership” is somehow a simple or self-evident idea that can be objectively interpreted as “the best policy for a society”, full stop. That’s the same naive “but it’s MINE!!!” thinking that underlies the fundamental incapacity of toddlers to understand the different factors that contributed to making something “THEIRS!!!”, and the arguments in favor of sharing.

Liberals also recognize that the idea of property ownership is important in a functioning society. However, liberals in general are able to recognize that the idea and implementation of property ownership are more complex than radical anti-tax conservatives realize.

Nope. I don’t think property ownership is objectively the best idea (that is absurd). I am simply able to argue for the idea on a policy level (ie, showing why it yields results that I can argue are better than other policies). Liberals generally can’t do that–they generally instead argue on the basis of fairness (witness the use of toddler analogies and terms such as “social justice”).

Any further questions?

Can she just take our blacks like that?!

I swear to god, she’s an alien from another world, and about as ugly.

“End Woman’s Sufferage!”

How was that not a strawman?

Even this, per se, wouldn’t bother me too badly… It’s the fact that this one factor is increasing in strength. It’s more true today than it was forty years ago. If it would merely have held steady at the relative importance of that epoch (when, I believe, it was also true) we wouldn’t be in such bad shape. But that the influence of education is diminishing, and the role of opportunity for upward mobility is being reduced, and racial and ethnic divisions are widening are terrifying truths.

Trinopus

Careful not to get the Rands confused. One of them is an amoral egotist best known for penning simplistic screeds extolling the virtue of selfishness, and the other one died in 1982.

That’s not quite right… Both of them are amoral egotists best known for penning simplistic screeds extolling the virtue of selfishness.

Exactly. We’re moving closer and closer to that feared “Proletariat” setup, where the poor basically have no opportunity to get out of the crushing grasp of, well, being poor. Upwards mobility is, in America, a fucking joke–it’s incredibly unlikely to happen.

Which one had orcs?

I’m going to quietly lay my head down on my desk for a little while, just to rest my eyes.
