I tend to ignore candidate spouses; they’re not running for office, and for all we know they could be secretly hoping that their spouse loses so they won’t have to spend the next four years having their every move scrutinized.
However, I remember how despicable those on the right were to Teresa Heinz a while back. And to be honest, I don’t remember her doing much to deserve the opprobrium.
Mitt is your stereotypical rich, out-of-touch CEO type. Before the lying and mudslinging I wasn’t much bothered by him. But you would think that his spouse would be a more sympathetic figure: she’s not as rich as he is, and she’s more at ease with people, right?
Wrong. Like Truman says, every time she utters a word she comes across as entitled, condescending, and whiny. Seriously, they need to try the boys as campaign fodder, because I honestly think Ann’s a liability right now.
To hell with economic policy and our standing on the world stage. This country can’t afford the two-headed Romney gaffe machine over the next four years.
