By the way, were you practicing for your wedding night that you missed the last DC Dopefest on Saturday?
snicker Good question, dc!
And if he doesn’t remind you to hit him for the title, I will.
AWESOME!!!
I was reading the title thinking, “Oh… well those things happen. That’s kinda sad but…”
Then when the page finished opening I got a huge grin!!! I am so happy for you two!!!
Love… Gosh, I love love.
I was wondering what Coldy was talking about. I’m happy for you, too, Cous’. It’s hard, this international-long distance relationship thing, but it’s worth it.
Discount international phone cards are one way, cheap airfare is another. E-mail me or start a separate thread for more, though. Stockholm is about 4100 miles from Washington, but right now she’s five feet from me in bed, so distance is relative. Again, I’m happy for you.
Persephone: The word you’re looking for, which happens to be one of the few Swedish words I do know, is gratular. In response, I say tack.
dcnewsman: Umm, no comment.
Zenster: Both my brother (the only invited guest, so far) and I are accomplished and capable photographers (he’s a filmmaker, too, to boot), so we’ll manage. You’ll be more than welcome at the post-nuptials DC Dopefest that will follow.
Tonight we went to the local Cheesecake Factory to celebrate. Anniz’s mother had sent her $50 for us to go out to dinner to celebrate the start of spring, but instead we used the money to see a movie, Enemy at the Gates, and ate a nice dinner at one of my favourite restaurants. And, since this was the best food she’s had in the US so far, it’s one of her’s as well.
We had a long chat about all the logistics of the next few months. Basically, I get to plan everything. And I thought eloping was the easy way to get married?
Good for you.
So I guess now racinchikki and I are going to have to take over the cheesy long-distance Doper romance role, eh?

Hey, why not? It’s not like they’ll win many realgames.
(Notice that in Western PA we successfully execute our smilies.)
And in Eastern PA we know how to win football games against our cross-state rivals.
All my best wishes for a lifetime of happiness!

Congratulations!
IIRC I believe there is a “Graceland” chapel in Vegas where you can indeed be married by an ordained Elvis impersonator. And, close by is a small seedy motel that one side of the Marquee board always reads “Elvis Slept Here”.
Be good to each other and be happy!
Just in case you’d like more info, I found the website…
http://www.vegasinfo.com/vegas/graceland_chapel.html
If you prefer the nontraditional…Our ELVIS impersonator is available to entertain at weddings or perform renewal services $120
Oh now I KNOW where I want to get my vows renewed! Let me find a white satin mini skirt and someone tell TD!
Thank god I have a year and a half to save up for a “milestone” anniversary to do it.
Thanks Anniz and Montfort…I now have a goal!
It’s a rare and magical event when this kind of thing happens! Wishing you both the very best in this most excellent of adventures. Congratulations!
I’m sure Anniz looks great in anything but especially in a sparkly white jump suit, veil and headdress. Viva Las Vegas!
All the best to you.
(There’s something to be said for the Internet, eh?)
[sub]yay![/sub]
Tequila Mockingbird: Thanks for the Elvis-info. We’d started doing some web searches about Elvis, Vegas, so I think we’ll be fine for that. Do keep your eyes open for a thread about it I might start in IMHO later, though.
Thanks again, everyone else!

“We?” I didn’t realize you were a member of the Turkeys…er, Eagles.
(I’d say something nice about Philly’s last NFL championship…but that occured before I was born.)
Montfort:
First you scare me half to death with your thread title, then you heartlessly gloat like this ? (I was going to add something about stealing away our beautiful Scandinavian women for low purposes, but never mind…) Some nerve you’ve got, mister - you’ll look pretty funny waiting by the altar in a body cast!
Seriously, what Shayna said goes for me as well. Huge congrats to both of you, I’m very happy for you.
And we want to see some photos from that wedding!
S. Norman
Gloat? Well, yeah, okay. It is nice posting while Anniz is gently sleeping here in my bedroom. But, I meant to offer some light for her to look towards in the future. I know what you’re going through… Hopefully, maybe, someday, you’ll know what I’m going through now.
I know, thanks mate. Just trying to get to grips with distances measured in thousands of miles, that’s all.
Really, this is damn inspirational. If you fellows can make it…
S. Norman
Just wanted to wish Shayna and Spiny Norman my best wishes.
And also thanks to the 2 of you and everyone else once again.
