Annoyed at people being annoyed at people crying about the 2016 election results

Why wait? You don’t think that there’s anything worth condemning about a president elect who surrounds himself with literal Hitler-admiring white nationalists?

The fact that “they’re just neo-Nazis, so what” is even an argument just shows how the people supporting Trump will approve of absolutely anything their leaders support. I see no reason to think that they’ll start caring once these people are in power and start doing the things they say they want to do.

Name the literal Hitler-admiring white nationalists and object to them specifically. You have been stating as fact actions that have not taken place. You sound no different than the morons who claimed that Obama was going to institute Sharia law. That kind of nonsense serves the very people you have a problem with.

Maybe if we somehow could get everyone into seeing the elections as a way to put forward an actual political platform, as opposed to a contest to prove moral righteousness, we could have both less whining and less gloating. But good luck with that, it’s been proven concrete platforms are not the way to mobilize voters, appeal to emotion works better. In this one by the end it became about “We can’t elect a rude sexist bully supported by white supremacists” vs. “We can’t elect a corporate shill who’s always trying to hide something”.

I was about to ask the same thing.

New?

I’m not ‘annoyed’ at people crying about politics, but I think given the reality of politics in the US (‘fear for their lives’ is hysterical exaggeration) it’s a sign people are getting too wrapped up in politics. I wouldn’t say it’s as misguided as getting seriously upset at sports outcomes (which a lot of people also do), but it’s not healthy either. To use a sports metaphor politics in the US is still played mainly between the 40 yard lines. The exaggerated fear mongering which explains some of the crying and anger (according to the prevailing style of left and right) has become destructive IMO.

He sounds very different. He sounds like someone who watched Bush invade a country under false pretenses, killing tens of thousands and ruining the lives of countless more, having people kidnapped and tortured while Republicans waved it away or worse, approved of it. He sounds like someone who just listened to thousands cheer as Trump said he’d have people tortured too, and the families of his victims put to death for good measure. It is only right to expect the very, very worst of Republicans based on past behaviour.

Right-wing idiots screaming about Sharia law, on the other hand, did not watch the previous Democratic president go about implementing Sharia law. Nor did they listen to thousands of Clinton supporters cheer Secretary Clinton on as she promised to implement Sharia law. Right-wing whining about Democrats is not related to the past actions of Democrats but to their own prejudices and bizarre fantasies.

The sports analogy is good. To extend that, a lot of the cry babies don’t seem to understand what trash talk is either.

The Tooth, do you remember who voted for that war in Iraq?

Oh! Oh! I got this one!

It was Hillary, wasn’t it?

And didn’t she later say that she regretted that vote and it was based on faulty intel? Did Bush… or, hell, *any *of the Republicans do the same?

There was no vote for a war in Iraq. What there was, was a vote to leave the decision to Bush. Bush was not obliged to invade Iraq because Clinton or anyone else voted in favour of the AUMF. It was an authorization, not a requirement.

What does this have to do with anything I said regarding the right’s very real penchant for atrocity versus the left’s non-existent support of Sharia Law?

Some friends are acting like the country instantly turned into Mordor. I didn’t vote for the guy but their reaction has pushed me towards him. I didn’t suddenly turn into a fan but I choose to be hopeful that when he actually gets into office he will make decent choices. Rooting against him at this point is rooting against the country which is counterproductive. When he is in power and actually does something I don’t like I’ll let my voice be heard. Until then it makes no sense to panic.

Communist Party USA endorsed Hillary, yet we didn’t hear a word of this from the media. The KKK endorses Trump and its all over the news for the entire election period. Neither group has any power or numbers (CPUSA 3000), (KKK 5000). Just another Mainstream Media red herring.

Well I’m glad that’s settled.

Thousands of innocent civilians were killed by the Obama/Democratic Drone Campaign in Iraq and Afghanistan over the last 8 years.

I just think it’s pointless to either get bummed, hyped, depressed or any damned thing until something concrete happens. I think this could be one of the most disastrous things to ever happen to America, but 1) Trump is self-serving above all else and could easily sway to lead whatever way suits him best personally, and 2) no matter the outcome now, I still believe this is a galvanizing final hurrah. It’s always the darkest before the storm ends.
